109: Volunteer testing

Ning could only think of one way to remove the Yin, and he did it.

Elder Neal and the lady watching him perform were both confused; the lady was curious why he would suddenly scream in pain and then start dancing.

On the other hand, Elder Neal was furious at everything he saw.

Not only did Ning cure a patient who should have belonged to him, but he was now celebrating his victory and happily dancing.

His anger prevented him from seeing the true situation.

As he reached the climax of his dance, the light entered his body, so he stopped the Yin Sound Conversion Technique.

The Yin immediately re-entered his body and began to attack it, but this time, he had a defender within him.

The Qi that destroyed any trace of Yin and Yang Qi was now working to destroy all the Yin. Although the Sun God's Morning Cleansing Technique no longer helped him cultivate his body, it had other applications.

After a while, all the Yin was eliminated by the other Qi. Ning finally stopped dancing and breathed a sigh of relief.

“Thank goodness I know this technique,” he muttered to himself.

“Are you finally done dancing?” Elder Neal looked at him angrily.

“Oh, yes,” he said. Then he turned to the lady and said, “Now that you’re fine, let’s go.”

“Uh… what about the money?” she asked.

Ning looked at Elder Neal, a slight smile on his face: “It’s free.”

“I wasn’t talking about your money. You took up my time, and that costs money,” Elder Neal quickly said.

“Oh, how much then, Doctor?” she asked.

“It’s… erm… one gold coin,” Elder Neal said. He really couldn’t say a higher price, or he would be complained about again.

The girl took out a gold coin and left with Ning. Ning reminded her not to train using that technique again, then returned to his room.

Elder Neal’s face was as red as a tomato, so much so that Ning barely recognized him. Ning waited for him to speak, but he just wouldn’t.

“My goodness, how angry is he? He must be brewing some God-knows-what plan in his mind,” Ning thought.

The rest of that day passed normally. People came, received treatment, and were sent back. Elder Neal didn’t speak to Ning for the rest of the day, apart from simple commands.

At the end of the day, Ning returned to his hut.

The rest of the week passed just like the first two weeks. He was forced to see the less popular doctors, especially the arrogant ones who thought themselves harmless.

Ning tried his best not to cause trouble, and nothing else happened until the day of the exam.

Finally, a week later, it was time for the volunteer exam. He had learned a few more things about volunteers in his free time and was fully prepared for the exam.

He walked into the examination hall early in the morning and found that only a few people had arrived before him. More people started to appear, and soon, the hall was full.

After a few more minutes, a new Elder walked in. Ning had never seen this Elder before, which meant he was one of the better Elders in the guild.

“I hope you are all ready now. We will begin the volunteer test shortly.” The Elder picked up a stack of papers and distributed them around the room.

“Alright, I will ask questions, and you can write down the answers. You have one minute to answer each question. If you are not done by then, I will not wait for anyone and will simply continue with the new questions,” the Elder said.

Everyone nodded, preparing to answer the questions.

“Question one: A patient has a broken arm, what do you do?” the Elder asked. This question was simple, something any aspiring volunteer would easily know.

“Send them to a doctor,” Ning wrote down. Volunteers were required to do so.

Volunteers could only treat illnesses or conditions that did not require the creation of different pastes or powders. They were also not allowed to treat major medical problems and had to refer patients to doctors.

“Time’s up. Question two: A patient has a problem with their upper chest, and you notice a red spot above their collarbone, what do you do?”

“Question three: A patient is a young person around 10 years old with a headache. You notice their eyes are sunken and their ears are slightly pale. What do you do?”

“Question 10: A Qi Condensation Realm cultivator enters with arm pain. What procedure do you follow to determine the cause?”

“Question 15: A Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator cannot collect Qi after breaking through. What is the reason?”

Questions flowed from the examiner’s mouth one after another, every minute. Ning listened to the questions and gave the best answers he could, without revealing the fact that he also possessed knowledge of the sect.

Soon, the Elder asked one last question.

“Finally, question 25: A patient has an illness, and you find it to be highly contagious. What do you do?”

Ning nodded, quickly answering the question on the paper. A minute passed, and the Elder asked everyone to stop writing and leave the room immediately.

Ning made sure his name was on his test paper, then left the examination hall.
