75: Chapter 1 Test

Soon, the hour they were given was up, and the person who had entered the hall from the beginning walked in once again.

“Alright, everyone, please return the books,” he said, gesturing for the sect members to take back both books.

Everyone quickly returned the books, some grumbling that they hadn't been given enough time.

“Now that you have all finished, we will have you enter this room one by one.

You, stand up,” the man said, pointing to a woman around Ning's age, “You go first.

Go in and state all the monsters you remember.

If you can also rank them from highest to lowest, you will receive extra points.”

“Every point here matters,” he said, then motioned for the girl to go forward.

Then he said, “Oh, I forgot to mention.

Only 100 people here will advance to the next test, and only 20 of them will join the sect.

Good luck,” he said with a smile.

Different whispers began all around, as everyone eagerly awaited their turn.

The person who had been there from the start entered the hall again.

Different whispers began all around, as everyone eagerly awaited their turn.

People began leaving the hall one by one, entering another room.

No one returned.

No one passed or failed until the final results, as only 100 people could pass, and they needed to test everyone.

Finally, it was Ning's turn for the test; he was called forward and told to enter the room like everyone else.

Upon entering, he was startled by the sight before him.

There were 10 cages, each containing different kinds of animals, all placed in the palms of these breeders.

Ning felt a bit queasy, but he didn't let that emotion stop him.

“What is your name?” the female examiner in the room asked him.

“Ning Ruogong,” he said.

These days, he didn't have many opportunities to use his full name.

“Alright, Ning, can you name these monsters?” she asked.

Ning looked at the 10 monsters in the cages; there were wolves, hyenas, snakes, giant hornets, crows, and more.

Ning only knew the names of four of them.

“Singing Ox, Beryl Hail, Autumn Wolf, Scarlet Hornet,” he quickly answered the four he knew, then paused.

Now, he had to use Qi Analysis to find out the names of everything else.

Using the second layer, he expended a lot of mental effort, but he hoped the monsters weren't that powerful.

He used his analysis to penetrate the different monsters and quickly named them.

Only the snake and crow were too high-ranked for him to contend with, but even so, he still managed to reach the second layer of each monster while keeping his mind clear.

“Damn it, that's a Sixth Empire Ripping Viper and a Fifth Empire Burning Crow.

They must be strong,” he thought.

“Oh, wow, well done on getting all ten perfectly.

Can you rank them?” the woman asked.

“Of course.” Ning said, listing the ranks of all the beasts there one by one.

The woman was stunned to see the young man's understanding of various beasts.

“Perfect score,” the woman said in shock, “You passed this test, and you can proceed.”

She said as she sent him to the next room.

The next room was also a large hall, where all the previous participants stood around, idling.

They were waiting for the results to be announced.

Soon, all participants had completed the first test, and the results were out.

As expected, Ning passed the test smoothly.

The examiner did not reveal each participant's score, only telling them who passed.

Soon, most participants left the hall with sadness and sighs.

Now only 100 participants remained in the vast hall.

Compared to before, the number was so small that it seemed almost empty.

The man from earlier returned and began to speak, “Congratulations on passing the first test.

I see many of you performed very well.

I am truly pleased to see such good potential in this batch of candidates.”

“For your next test, it will be something similar.

You will once again be given these books to read.

However, this time it is not based on who can remember the most, but on who can understand the most.”

The man gestured, and a group of people once again walked out from the doorway, handing each of them a small booklet.

If the previous two books were a hearty meal, then this book was just a small dessert after the meal.

However, when it came to meals, dessert was always what everyone wanted to eat the most.

Ning read the title of the book— “Rising Mist Talisman.”

It was a technique that allowed a person to use their Qi to create a talisman and then place it on a willing monster, taming them.

“You have one hour to read this book and understand this technique,” the man said before leaving.

Ning didn't want to read another book.

He said, “System, do the same thing and turn it into a technique, putting it directly into my mind.”

<Insufficient Energy>

“What? Again?” He quickly checked his status and realized he now had approximately 37 million energy, which, unfortunately, was still not enough to do anything.

So, he was forced to read the entire book himself.

He only had an hour to read and understand the book he had just received.

“This should be impossible, right?” he thought.

Even eidetic memory couldn't help at this moment; remembering what was said in the book and understanding what was said were two different things.

Finally, he couldn't do anything to avoid reading this book and taking the easy way out, so he turned to the first page and began to read.
