34: Imagine

More than a kilometer from the village, Hyesi was desperately digging a large pit in the ground. He had already collected many boulders from the seaside, preparing to build a home for Ning.

Ning was still unsure how long it would take to finish, but now that he could get five million energy every day, the speed was definitely getting faster and faster.

“When the people in the village see my white skin, will I be ostracized?” He was very worried. He actually didn't want to change his appearance, but it seemed he had no choice but to do so.

“Hey, System. Can I delete some things later if I want to?” he asked.

“With the Shop, anything is possible.”

This made him breathe a sigh of relief. “But I don’t even know if they will accept me. They don’t seem used to visitors. So introducing myself to them might not be a good idea.”

Hyesi continued to build the house for Ning. Ning planned to live in this house for a while before going to the village. Or even never go there. He might just leave this island for the mainland. At least that’s what he thought for now.

By night, Hyesi finally finished building the house. The stone house was nothing special, not even as good as an igloo. However, Ning felt that for its purpose, the house was not bad.

“Let’s go back. We’ll come back tomorrow and hide it with dry leaves and such,” Ning said.

“Okay, Inikaka,” Hyesi obeyed his command.

The way back was pitch black, and Ning couldn't see anything. But Hyesi could, and Ning envied him for it. “Should I buy Night Vision?” he wondered.

“Uh... it should help, right?” He thought, “Anyway, it’s not like I don’t have time for other things. I can live forever, so making some investments now is a good choice.”

“Hey, System. How much does Night Vision cost?” he asked. “In fact, for that matter, I also need to improve my visual clarity.”

“There are 3 levels of Night Vision.”

“Night Vision I: 500,000 energy.”

“Night Vision II: 5,000,000 energy.”

“Night Vision III: 50,000,000 energy.”

“Hmm, 3? What’s the difference between them?” he asked.

“Night Vision I is infrared vision. It displays images in grayscale.” “Night Vision II amplifies normal night light, providing vision as close to daytime as possible.”

“Night Vision III allows you to see things even in places without light.”

“Wow. Night Vision III is amazing. I should buy one sometime,” he thought.

“Okay, purchase Night Vision I, and tell me the Night Vision distance I can purchase.”

“Confirmed.”

“Congratulations on acquiring Night Vision I.”

“You can purchase your vision focal length at a price of 200,000 energy per meter.” “That’s 5 meters per million, right? Hmm... because I have over 5 million, maybe... no. Give me 3 million in extra focal length.”

“Confirmed.”

“Your field of vision has increased by 15 meters.”

Ning decided to look out. “Wow,” suddenly, he could see things in the dark. It looked like a movie on TV, all gray.

And he could see farther and clearer.

“I can finally see clearly more than ten meters ahead.”

Ning checked how much energy he had left. “Status.”

“Status.”

“Name: Ning Ruogong.”

“Energy: 2,347,948.”

“Skills: Synchronized Thinking, Basic Map, Elementary Clavis Language, Candlelight, Yin-Heat Conversion Technique, Night Vision.”

“Hmm... I still have a lot of strength left. I wonder what to buy.”

As he was thinking, Hyesi suddenly spoke, “Ah, they must be cooking fish again. Hurry up, Inikaka.”

“Hmm...” Ning tried to look towards the center of the village, but the center was blocked by trees and buildings. “How can you tell they’re grilling fish? You shouldn’t be able to see the center of the village from here,” he asked.

“Of course, it’s because I smell fish, Inikaka,” Hyesi said casually.

“Smell? Oh my! That’s right, it’s smell. System, why haven’t you given me a sense of smell yet?” he asked.

“The host has never made any requests for a sense of smell, and the sense of smell is mostly provided by the human body they create.”

“You can purchase perception, but the System suggests you wait for the main body.” “Uh... I guess so. I should be able to restore my body within 20 days.” Hyesi had already gotten the fish and was eating. “Do you like eating fish?” Ning asked softly, seeing him devour the fish.

“Like? Not really. But I don’t dislike it either. It’s just food.”

Hyesi said.

“Then why are you eating so fast?” Ning asked with a smile.

“Oh, that’s because I’m hungry. You know, I haven’t eaten in days,” Hyesi said with a smile after finishing the fish.

“Are you hungry? Then why don’t you eat every day?” Ning asked.

“What are you saying, Inikaka? Of course, we get hungry. But we don’t have anything to eat,” he said.

“What about the fish in the storeroom?” Ning asked.

“Oh, those are the foods we store for when the cold weather comes. During the cold weather, we won't show ourselves for many days, and we won't have time to farm.

So we need to live on food for a shorter period,” Hyesi said.

“Oh, so they don’t have much to eat because they’re preparing for winter. No wonder they put the fish in the storeroom, covered in salt. But...” Ning wondered.

“Hey, Hyesi. Then why don’t you catch more fish? You’re so close to the sea here. You can catch one whenever you want, right?” he asked.

“We can’t, Inikaka. Because of that damned demon, Fufuriki, all the fish around here have run away. Because of him, we rarely catch fish,” Hyesi replied, gritting his teeth.

“I see... I wonder what I can do to help them.”
