85: Beast Technology

At 2 PM, Ning arrived at the Beast Feeding Hall and saw Soria.

“Hello, Sister Soria,” he said as he walked in.

“Oh, is it your turn today?” she asked.

“Yes,” he said.

“Strange, I don’t remember seeing you here this morning,” she said.

“Oh, Brother Regiel told me to go straight to the beast grounds to meet him, so I didn’t come here. Now I need food to feed the livestock, so I came here,” he said.

“Oh, I see. Then go find him, he should be inside,” Soria said.

Ning nodded and went inside to find Regiel. “Brother Regiel, I’m here,” he said when he found Regiel. Regiel was deep in thought when he suddenly heard someone call his name.

“Ah? Oh, Brother Ning, you’re here. Is it time already?” Regiel asked.

“Ah, yes, so I came to get food for the beasts,” Ning said.

“Come on,” Regiel said, handing Ning a small bag.

“A beast bag? No, it’s a storage bag,” Ning thought in surprise. This was the first time he had seen a beast bag. “How much can this bag hold?” he asked.

“About 500 kilograms,” Regiel said.

“I see,” Ning said. “As for my energy, how much is that? 250 million? That’s not as much as I thought,” Ning said. He left the Beast Feeding Hall and went to the beast grounds.

Just like this morning, he fed the beasts in the enclosures. It took him less than 30 minutes to feed all of them. Without Regiel explaining everything to him, the process was shortened by at least a third of the time.

After he was done, he returned to his room to cultivate again, and in the evening, he went to feed the beasts again before returning.

The next day, he did the same thing. He fed the beasts three times: morning, noon, and evening.

“Alright, Little Brother Ning, you have at least 10 days off from any work,” Regiel said.

“10 days? I was planning to do it twice a week, but I didn’t expect it to be 10 days,” Ning said.

“Haha, we have 6 people working, so we changed it to 2 days of work per person, rotating every 12 days. Here, 30 coins,” Regiel said, handing Ning 30 hard coins.

“This is… why so early?” Ning asked.

“Oh, you only need to do this two more times, so you’ve already received a third of your salary. You might need it too,” Regiel said.

“Yes, I will. But what if I don’t come for the other two times? Shouldn’t my salary be reduced by 10 coins for each feeding I miss?” he asked.

“Oh, I forgot to mention. If your losses exceed what you are owed, you can no longer work here. Now, you won’t do such a foolish thing again, right?” Regiel asked with a smile.

Ning returned to his room and began to think. “Am I really going to stay in my room for the next 10 days?” he wondered. Cultivation was good, but he was now back at the first stage of cultivation, so it would even take him some time to make a breakthrough.

“Wait a moment.” He thought, and hurriedly took out the rule manual from his storage, flipping to a certain page.

- All-Sect Beast Tournament held at the end of each month

“That is…” He quickly counted the days, thinking, “Within four days.” He finally saw hope that the next four days wouldn’t be boring. “This is a beast tournament, so I need to train Night Demon.” He thought.

“I should visit the Skill Hall,” he thought.

Early the next morning, Ning woke up from cultivation and collected heat energy again. He now had about 250 million, which was far from enough.

By this time, night had fallen, so after he finished his cultivation and training, he went to the Skill Hall.

The Skill Hall and other halls were at the foot of the mountain, so it didn’t take him long to get there. He was allowed to enter just by showing his identification.

However, as an outer disciple, he could only stay in the hall for 2 hours. “I wonder how long inner and core disciples can stay,” he thought.

The hall was divided into two parts: one for beast-related skills and the other for human-related skills.

Claw skills, combined with my cultivation foundation, are enough for me now. Besides, the competition only uses beasts, so I should find some skills for Night. Hopefully he can learn them within four days, Ning thought.

He entered the avian section of beast skills and began to look for anything that resembled good skills. Beaks, feathers, wings, claws, eyes, tails. Countless skills, even just for birds, were scattered along the corridors of the room.

Ning looked at the wing and claw sections. Night was good at flying and had good eyesight because he was a carnivore. Moreover, his beak was curved forward like all eagles, and his feathers were not for attack, so Ning didn’t understand why he would get them, and the same went for the other two.

Soon, he found 2 skills he really liked and could afford.

The first was called “Dizzying Scent,” which made the wings fly very fast, generating a large amount of wind with Qi, stinging the enemy’s eyes and temporarily blinding them in the process.

The next skill was called “Multiple Scratch,” which allowed the bird to scratch multiple times with its claws when scratching the enemy. One scratch was done by the bird itself, while the other scratches were done by the Qi released when using the skill.

It cost Ning about 16 gold coins in total, which was a considerable amount, but he thought it was worth it.
