50: Quick Work

"How much will it cost for the two of us to teleport together?" Ning asked the System.

"Ignoring distance, it will consume 1,560,000 energy."

"Okay, even if we combine, our weight shouldn't be too much," he thought. He grabbed Hyesi's shoulder and commanded the System, "Teleport to my farm on the other island."

"Confirmed."

The two instantly arrived at the farm without any sensation of movement. Suddenly, Hyesi was startled by the change in surroundings and quickly looked around.

"Where are we, Inikaka?" he asked.

"It's the island you told me about," Ning replied.

"On... the next island?" Haisi was shocked. He began to look around to make sure it was indeed the correct place. "These trees do look similar to what I remember, but it's been so long, I don't even know if we're really on the next island," Haisi said.

Ning ignored the boy and instead began to search for some fruit on the trees, picking them from high branches with Telepathy, rinsing them with filtered water, and then eating them.

He picked some more fruit, ate some, stored some, drank some water, and then it was time to farm.

"Hyesi, come here," he said, calling Hyesi to where he kept his hoe and shovel. He picked up the hoe and handed the shovel to Hyesi.

Hyesi looked at the shovel as if it was the first time he had ever seen it. "Damn. It's possible," Ning thought.

"Do you know what this is?" he asked. Hyesi looked at it for a moment longer, then said, "A shovel?"

"Oh, so you do know what it is. Then why were you staring at it as if you'd never seen one before?" Ning asked.

"Lord Inikaka, yes, I have seen shovels before. But I have never seen a shovel that can shovel this... rock," Hyesi said.

"Rock? No, this isn't rock, this is metal," Ning replied. "Oh dear, I forgot these primitives don't know what metal is. It's going to be a bit troublesome to explain. I hope I don't have to." Ning had to. Hyesi kept asking questions, so he began to explain what metal was using the knowledge he remembered from his studies on Earth. He hadn't bothered to buy knowledge about metal because he thought it was a waste of time.

"Well, since you know what a shovel is, I hope you also know how to use one. Go dig a hole like this," he said, pointing to the hole he had dug in the field to collect filtered water.

"Yes, Inikaka," Hyesi said, then went to the spot Ning indicated to dig the hole. Meanwhile, Ning decided to clear the weeds and dig a proper path, which he had left behind when he was digging with Telepathy, to make the field more like a farm.

After about fifteen minutes of clearing the path, he was interrupted by Hyesi. He turned around and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I've dug the hole," Hyesi said.

"That was fast. Well, go ahead and do the remaining two," Ning said, turning back to his task, when Hyesi spoke again, "I've finished all three, Inikaka."

This made Ning stop what he was doing, "What did you say?" He turned his head and saw three piles of earth dug out on the ground, each higher than the one he had dug.

"My goodness. How strong is this boy? He didn't even take 5 minutes to dig a hole," he thought. "I need to check." Ning found a relatively empty spot and said, "Dig one over there too."

Hyesi turned back, picked up the shovel, and walked towards the spot Ning pointed to, striking the ground with the shovel without hesitation, as if cutting a cake with a knife.

Like a robot, he began to throw the dirt behind him and then dig.

Dig, throw the dirt behind him, dig, throw the dirt behind him. He did this for a little over 4 minutes, and the hole was dug. This hole was larger than the one he had dug.

"This cultivation is no joke. I thought it was inferior to ordinary Qigong cultivation because they can use any technique. But if you can do this with your body, what need is there for fancy techniques?" he thought.

"However, the best way is a combination of both. Fly very fast and punch very hard, just like Superman. I should learn that too," he thought.

He had originally wanted to ask about techniques but quickly realized how awkward it would be to ask about a technique that could make him stronger, according to the Villagers. "I need to change my approach," he thought.

"Come here," he called Hyesi. "Tell me about your Sun God Morning Cleansing Technique. Who taught you?" he asked.

Hyesi was momentarily confused and asked, "This Sun God's... uh... what technique?"

Ning was surprised, "You don't know the name of the cultivation method you practice every morning?"

"Oh, I... so our morning training has a name? I didn't know, Inikaka. I've always just imitated what the elders do," he said.

"So you haven't received any formal education?" he asked.

"No, Inikaka."

"This is a problem. Do I have to go find the Chief now?" he wondered.

"Wait, who knows the most about this?" he asked.

Hyesi thought for a moment and replied, "Perhaps the elders, because they have practiced this dance the longest. However, I'm quite sure they also learned it the same way from their ancestors."

"This is too complicated. It seems no one in the village can teach it perfectly.

Alas, I might have to buy a perfect version from the Shop."
