113: Too popular

Rosso walked out of the volunteer room in the evening and returned home, his hair half-white and half-black, showing that he was almost 30 years old.

Today's volunteer work was over, so he was leaving. He opened the door, expecting to see many people, but there weren't that many.

"How strange. Why has the number of people suddenly become so small? It's been decreasing for the past 5 days."

Initially, he thought it was a coincidence that people were feeling down, but now, he was sure something was amiss, so he finally decided to go and see.

He hadn't walked far when he saw a truly massive queue. He was surprised to find that one volunteer had more patients than he did. After all, he had been working there for four years and had been considered the best for over a year.

"Who is this volunteer?" He took a few steps forward, wanting to see.

"Hey, don't cut the line, go to the back," someone shouted at him.

"What?" He was a little surprised.

"Go on, oh, wait... Is that you, Dr. Rosso?" The person suddenly became docile after realizing who he was.

"Yes. Can you tell me who that volunteer is? Why are so many people still queuing for him?" Rosso asked.

"Oh, don't you know Dr. Ning? He's one of the best volunteers here. His massages can instantly relieve your body pain. Moreover, he's very fast, only 5 minutes per person. So, everyone is queuing here to get in," the man said.

"A masseur? A volunteer doing a masseur's job? Bah, when did volunteers become so lowly?" Rosso thought.

"You can all go home, it's getting late today," Rosso suggested.

"Oh, no. Dr. Ning stays an extra 2 hours every day. We still have time to treat 24 more people," the man said.

'What? An extra 2 hours? Is he trying to commit suicide? How could such a person pass the volunteer test?' Rosso just shook his head and left.

The next day was his day off, so he returned on the second day, arriving at the volunteer hall at 7 AM, but there was already a long queue.

However, what surprised him most was that there were only a few people queuing for him, while the queue for the newcomer, Ning, was much longer than anything he had seen before.

In fact, Ning was actually taking patients away from all the other volunteers.

"Hey, hello, what's going on here? Why are there so many people here?" Rosso asked, suspecting that something had changed the day he left.

"Don't you know? Dr. Ning's massages are the best," the person said.

"Is that all?" Rosso sighed and went to work. He started seeing patients at his own pace, but after a while, no more patients came.

"What on earth is going on?" Rosso asked, coming out to find almost everyone queuing for Ning.

Those who came for others had already been checked and left, and Ning's queue was getting longer and longer. Rosso saw other volunteers also coming out of their rooms, and they were also angry.

So, he decided to complain to the management. He gathered different volunteers and personally went to see the President of the Doctors Guild.

After a while, they all walked out, happy with their mission accomplished, and returned to their respective rooms, waiting for all of this to end.

Ning had been happy for the past few days. For almost a week, he had been accepting patients seeking massage therapy, and thus he had received a solid 5-point coupon.

"I have about 1000 coupons now. I just need to do another week, and I can easily complete one of the exams," he thought, as he performed the 10-finger heaven massage technique on an elderly woman complaining of back pain.

However, he knew that was just nonsense. They just wanted massages and kept falsely reporting various pains. He had seen the same person come twice in one day. Some were also repeat patients.

But, he didn't care, as long as he could get the steady coupons he needed to become a doctor, he could accept it.

After finishing the massage for the old woman, he sent her out and waited for another patient.

A bald middle-aged man walked in. "How can I—uh, are you a patient?" Ning asked after seeing the man.

"No, I'm not. I'm an administrator from the Physicians Guild. May I ask what you are doing here?" the man asked Ning.

"Me? I'm treating the common people as usual. They come here with troubles and leave without them," Ning said. However, deep down, he was screaming.

"! I knew this wouldn't last forever. They've already shut this down here. Damn it, couldn't they let it last one more week? I'd be one step closer to becoming a doctor," Ning thought.

"I heard that your services are not entirely what a volunteer should be doing. It seems we heard correctly. Mr. Ning Ruogang, I cannot tell you whether what you are doing is right or wrong; that is not my job. You can judge for yourself."

"My job is to ensure that all volunteers receive at least a few patients during the day so they can do something. Therefore, I hereby order you to cease all massage services at this institution, except for those who truly need a massage."

"Please decide for yourself. If we receive the same complaint again, we will be forced to revoke your volunteer status, understood?"
