41: Killing two birds with one stone

A few more days passed, and life was so uneventful that Ning couldn't be bothered to think too much. Every morning, he would wake up, wait for his energy cap to be used up, and then absorb five million energy.

He spent the rest of his days teleporting around, looking for more food to send back to the Villagers. So far, all he had sent was fruit. There was nothing else on this island he could send.

He spent millions of energy to increase the weight limit of his Cross-dimensional Storage space so he could send back more things at once and not waste energy on multiple trips.

He had now traveled to every corner of the jungle and truly knew how terrifying it was. The animals he encountered at first were nothing compared to the monsters deep within the forest.

However, they only scared him. To the Villagers, who could easily lift stones and whose muscles were harder than steel, these monsters were probably as cute as pets.

Ning was tired of teleporting. Since he knew there was nothing here, he wanted to go back.

“Hmm…” He heard something and looked up. A crow-like bird with black feathers and white claws landed on the ground next to him. It was there for the berries he had just sent back.

Since there were still some left, the bird started eating them.

“Wow, what a big bird,” he thought. This bird was even bigger than an ostrich kept in a zoo. It also looked like a crow.

“Damn, this bird is enough to feed an entire village. It might be heavier than that fish,” he thought. Just then, an idea popped into his head.

“Should I kill this bird?” he thought. Instinctively, he wanted to jump into the bird's body and start absorbing its energy until it died, but he remembered that his absorbed energy had reached its limit, so he couldn't do that.

“Then, is an Air Cutter enough?” he wondered. “Let’s try it.” He aimed at the bird and decided to release a fairly large Air Cutter. He released an Air Cutter worth 50,000 energy.

He spent 40,000 to make it 2 meters long to fit the bird's size and spent the remaining 10,000 energy to increase its damage.

Swish!

The blade of light flew from the air and landed on the bird.

CAW!

The crow cried out loudly. The blade mark barely penetrated its body, revealing a little blood, but it was not enough to cause any significant damage to it.

“Damn it,” Ning thought. Seeing the bird trying to escape, he immediately used another Air Cutter on it. Only this time, he used 100,000 energy.

With six times the power, the aerial slash went straight for the bird, cutting it in half. The bird was able to fly for a short distance before disappearing.

“Whew,” Ning sighed as he watched the bird break into two pieces. “Damn it. It almost got away,” he thought. He watched the beast's internal organs slowly spill out and couldn't help but wince.

“Oh my god. This looks worse than the fish’s stomach or those crows that swallow their prey.”

Now it was time to deal with the corpse. He managed to kill it, but now he needed to send it back to another island. But this bird was too big and heavy to put into his storage. So, he started to worry.

“Hey, System. Can I teleport that corpse back to another place without storing it in my storage?” he asked.

<YES>

“Oh, nice. However, it looks pretty heavy. How much will it cost?” he asked.

<THIS WILL COST YOU 1,692,000 ENERGY>

“Wow, that heavy?” he thought. “But… if I send it now, I can spend the rest of the day freely. Heh heh, I just need to send them a few monsters once a day, and that’ll be enough,” he thought.

“Okay, send.” He looked at the corpse, expecting it to disappear from his sight. However, nothing happened, and he only received a system prompt.

<YOU MUST BE IN CONTACT WITH THE OBJECT YOU WISH TO TELEPORT>

“Ugh. You should have told me earlier. Alright, teleport me on top of that object,” he said. The stone he was residing in disappeared from where it appeared above the two halves of the bird's corpse. Thankfully, the two halves were stacked together, so he didn't have to worry about teleporting them separately.

“Okay, can you send it now?” he asked.

<YES>

“Finally, alright, do it.” He said, and only then did the bird's corpse disappear from his sight.

“Now that that’s done, what else should I do?” He began to wonder.

“Should I go kill more monsters and send them back to the Villagers?” he thought. This was the idea he came up with at the time, but now he had to consider if it was a good idea.

He thought for a moment and said, “Their problem isn’t a lack of food and needing my help. Their real problem is the demon they call Fufuliki. If I can somehow get rid of that demon, I won’t have to kill all these monsters. They can do it themselves. They’re probably much stronger than me.”

“Alright, for now, I’ll just occasionally collect some food and send it back.

At the same time, I’ll save energy and buy myself some useful things.

Hmm… maybe trying to use sound energy to increase the cap might even be a good idea,” he thought.

“So be it. No more single-mindedly helping those humans. I’m going to start using energy for myself now and get Telepathy and a human body as soon as possible.”
