37: New Island

"The nearest island is 8.3 kilometers from here." "Teleport," Ning said.

"This will cost you 22,000 energy. Are you sure?" "That cheap? Of course. Let's do it then."

"Confirmed."

One second Ning was looking at Hyesi with curious eyes, the next he was already standing on the beach, looking directly at the blue ocean.

"So it's another island," he looked across and saw the same vegetation he had expected. "Exactly as I imagined." "Oh, yes, System. That teleport was very cheap. Can you tell me why?" he asked.

"Teleportation cost depends on the distance traveled and the weight of the object you inhabit."

"The total energy cost for teleportation is the total distance (in kilometers) multiplied by 2000 plus the total weight (in kilograms) multiplied by 15000."

"Then... no wonder it's so cheap now. By the way, how much does permanent teleportation cost?" he asked.

"Permanently unlocking instant movement costs 10,000,000,000 energy."

"Permanently unlocking teleportation will only consume energy based on the teleportation distance and can be used for objects of any weight."

"However, permanent teleportation will not allow you to leave a planet unless you possess 10% of that planet's energy."

"Oh dear, that might take a long time," he thought. "Oh, yes, you said this place is about 8 kilometers from another island, right? Hmm..." He tried to think of something but couldn't.

"System, can't the map acquire distances?" he asked.

"The map is starting to distance itself from the beginner's map."

"Oh, I guess I should buy one too. Alright, then I'll buy a beginner's map of Kumiya Planet."

"This will cost you 1,500,000 energy. Are you sure?" "Hmm, somehow I remember it being more expensive. Has my judgment of more and less changed so much?" he wondered. "Yes, buy it."

"Confirmed."

Immediately, a flood of information rushed into his mind.

"Oh... oh... oh oh oh," he screamed inwardly as he saw the numbers on the map. The map in his mind became clearer and larger.

Now he could easily see the individual islands scattered across the vast ocean.

He looked at the circular outline of the North Continent, covering most of the Northern Hemisphere. Then he looked at the islands and began to calculate their distances.

He quickly realized that it was impossible to deduce his location with just this map. There were hundreds, even thousands, of such islands, so he would have to use other information to find his current location.

"My goodness, this world is so big, no wonder it can accommodate so many humans.

System, how does this compare to Earth?" he asked.

"Kumiya Planet's surface area is 23 times that of Earth, thus it can accommodate many humans."

"I see. Then it will take me a very long time to travel across this land," he thought.

Suddenly, something appeared on the beach. A bear-like creature was looking for food left by the ocean. It sniffed around the beach and eventually approached the stones.

"Alright, let's go see what the inside of this island is really like." He didn't hesitate to use the parasite on the bear, then began to ride it wherever it wanted to go.

"System, can you mark my last location on the other island as some kind of checkpoint?" he asked.

"Done."

"Oh. I thought that would cost me energy. I didn't expect that." The bear found some dead fish washed ashore and ate them. After that, it returned to the jungle. Ning looked at the various plants and wildlife in the jungle, feeling a bit nostalgic as it reminded him of the animals in the Zoo.

The interior of a Zoo is usually designed to resemble the habitat of the animals kept within, so most animal cages have trees.

"If there were tigers or lions here, that would be difficult. What if they were as strong as the tigers or lions of the South Continent?" he wondered.

Fortunately, there didn't seem to be too many predatory animals here, so he should be fine for now. When Ning reached what he believed to be the center of the island, he used the parasite to inhabit a large tree and began to use it as a host.

This tree was very tall, much taller than the others, so he could see the ocean in the distance. He even vaguely saw the shadow of the island where Hyesi and his tribe lived.

Then he looked across and only saw trees, dense, large trees, with no sunlight penetrating. "No wonder they don't want to stay here. This is a terrible place for them," he thought.

"Hmm... now that I'm here, what should I do for them? Should I look for trees with food, or should I kill some animals? How should I do these things?" he wondered.

"Hmm... should I learn skills like Telepathy? System, how much does Telepathy cost?" he asked.

"The Telepathy skill costs 240,000,000 energy." "I guess I won't be learning that anytime soon. Hmm... then should I continue with my plan to get a human body? That should be faster," he thought. Then, he looked around the jungle, which contained tens of thousands of trees, tens of thousands of animals, and who knows how many insects.

"Yes, no. The body can't move for now. How can I ensure the body's safety after I create it? Hmm... I think I should use Telepathy now. Or find a nimble animal to control its body. That works too."

"Ahhh, I'm too mentally exhausted right now. I'll think about it after I sleep for a bit. System, wake me up when I can absorb energy," he commanded.

"Confirmed."

Slowly, he lost consciousness and fell asleep.
