80: Entrance
“So, when did you learn to tame beasts? I started learning when I was three years old. When I was three, my father bought me a crimson hamster, and I played with it throughout my childhood. Oh, do you know who my father is? He’s the head of Flying Beast Company. If you guys need to go anywhere, just let me know. I can give you a free ride around the island.”
“We actually get our monsters from the forest. Most people don’t know, but there are a lot of flying beasts in the forest. Speaking of which, how was your day in the forest today? I had a great time myself. You know I caught an Iron Ape, right? To be honest, catching it was a bit difficult. If my father’s men hadn’t told me there were Iron Apes in a certain area, I would never have known about them.”
“Speaking of which, I was actually with my father’s men, looking for more beasts for his company. We found a lot of beasts. He was using a bow and arrow, haha. We don’t want to kill them. Just injure them enough to stop them from moving, and then bring them back. We’ll heal them and tame them afterwards.”
“Man, there was a really fast bird I wanted to catch. I only threw one arrow at it. I think I grazed it, but it got away afterward. Damn, it was too good. I wish I knew what kind of bird that was.”
Ning felt his ears going deaf from the incessant chatter of the man named Ya Zi. However, he wasn’t even the primary listener of this conversation.
The ones truly being tormented right now were the two girls, who wanted absolutely nothing to do with that guy, but he just wasn’t getting the hint.
At some point, one of the two girls turned to him, looked him straight in the eyes, and said, “I have a boyfriend.”
Ning chuckled a bit at this; the girl was so fed up with him that she used the most effective phrase to get a boy to leave her alone.
When Ashius heard the snickering, he turned and glared at Ning, then turned back to talk to the other girl. He only spoke for another minute before that girl turned to him and said, “I have a boyfriend too.”
“Pfft,” Ning couldn’t hold back his laughter this time. “Hahahaha,” he burst out laughing.
Ya Zi laughed, “What are you laughing at?” He walked towards Ning, speaking as he approached. Ning couldn’t stop laughing, and the person he was laughing at walked right up to him and stared at him.
Ning still couldn’t stop laughing, only laughing even louder.
“You…” Ashius was about to say something when the examiner walked in with 15 different people.
“Alright, the 20 of you have passed the examination. Stand around, and I will tell you more about this sect.” The 15 people brought in by the examiner mixed with the remaining 5.
Ashius retreated to another spot, slowly walking towards another female who had just entered.
“The Mist Origin Sect is the largest sect in Star Eye City, the strongest beast-taming sect in the Scattered Archipelago, and one of the top ten sects in the Scattered Archipelago, with the strongest sects only found on the main continent.”
“Everything in the sect costs gold coins. Even staying in the sect might cost money. So be sure to acquire or earn some from time to time.”
“As long as you have enough gold coins, you are free to use any facility in the sect. Every month, there will be a competition between your beasts, which will determine if you stay in the sect.”
“However, you don’t have to worry about this, because, you know, coins.”
“All of you will start as Outer Disciples and must live with other disciples. Five of you will live in one room. Inner Disciples will have two people per room, and Core Disciples will all have their own houses,” the examiner said.
“However, as a sect member, you must participate in one of three different sections: Beast Healing, Beast Feeding, and Beast Training.”
“Members of the Beast Healing section will be responsible for cleaning and ensuring the beasts in the sect remain healthy.”
“Members of the Beast Feeding section must feed the beasts daily, including food and water.”
“Disciples of the Beast Training section, when taming beasts, must train the beasts to obey new disciples. This is the most difficult, so not everyone can choose to do this, and one must take a separate examination for it.”
“Any questions?” he asked.
A new disciple raised his hand and asked, “How do we advance from Outer to Inner Sect?”
“Ah, good question. As I said, there’s a sect-wide competition every month where your beasts will fight. If you rank in the bottom half, you will have to pay to stay. However, in the top half, more precisely, the top 16, if you manage to get into the top 16, you will be promoted as long as you are under 25 years old and at the Qi Condensation 4th stage.”
“You will soon learn the requirements for Core Disciples.”
“Now, go in. These disciples will help you shape your identity and show you to your new lodgings,” he said.
Soon, the disciples began to walk away, and Ning followed. He was a bit sad that he had to share a place with four other people, but he didn’t really care.
Before long, he was led out of the hall and into the true grounds of the sect.
“Wow,” he said, looking at the place. The place was too big. There was a small slope where most of the buildings were located. On the lower slope, there were the sect buildings that most people visited.
They walked up the mountain, where the residences for Outer, Inner, and Core Disciples were located. At the top of the mountain was where the elders lived.
Ning and the others were led to a building at the foot of the slope, where he received his identification card. Apparently, he could now enter and exit the city without paying at the gate.
Besides that, he also received a rulebook and a… bag.
“Is this a storage bag?” he wondered. He had heard of these things. They could store many items in a very small space, similar to his Cross-dimensional Storage. He had seen them in use but had never seen the real thing.
<No, this is a Beast Skin Bag>
Ning didn’t expect that. “Beast Bag?” He tried to recall if he knew what this thing was, but he only knew it was used to store beasts.
“Can you tell me more about it?” he asked the system.
