128: Corpse Gas
By the time Ning woke up, she had already placed her palm on the man's bald head, and it began to rot quite quickly.
Ning used his Dual Step movement technique and his Qi to propel himself forward and kicked the woman. The woman once again blocked herself quickly enough.
She smashed into the rubble behind her and got up unharmed. "Haha, it's over, kid. He'll start fighting for me now," the woman said with a wicked laugh. "Look at his body—"
Ning's arm was placed on the bald head, and he slowly pulled the Yin Qi. His head no longer rotted and even regained its previous luster.
"What—what did you do?" the woman shouted as he ran forward, swinging her sword at Ning.
Ning brought his hand back and grabbed the spear with both hands, blocking the woman.
Clang!
A loud sound rang out as the sword collided with the spear shaft. Ning blocked the attack without issue; however, the woman stared in shock as her sword was chipped away.
"You!" she shouted, about to attack again when she noticed something. Her previously blue hands slowly started to warm up. She was losing her Qi.
Ning let out a slight hum as it slowly started to grow larger. The woman looked at him with a hint of fear in her eyes and said, "What exactly did you do? What did you do to my Corpse Qi?"
"Corpse Qi?" Ning finally knew the name of the unique Yin Qi he had been struggling with for so long.
"You! You bastard!" the woman screamed, slamming her sword into his staff again. However, this time the sword did not chip.
"She's getting weaker?" Ning realized. "Is it because I'm taking the Corpse Qi?"
Ning immediately started taking as much Corpse Qi as possible, and the woman's skin slowly lost all its blue color.
She was now just a normal 7th Qi Condensation Realm cultivator.
The woman was terrified as she could feel herself losing most of her strength. "Oh no," she immediately turned around and started to flee.
But Ning would not let that happen. He immediately rushed to where she was and made a huge horizontal swing with his spear like a baseball bat.
The woman realized she was under attack and immediately used a technique that made her sword glow blue. She placed her sword to her left, blocking the incoming spear. However, she greatly underestimated Ning's strength, as she no longer had Corpse Qi.
Not only was the sword unable to stop the spear, but it was actually pushed towards the woman, eventually slicing her body in half.
Even in death, her face could only maintain an expression of disbelief.
Seeing the woman dead, Ning turned to help the man. Fortunately, only his leg was cut a little, and he would be fine once he received some medicine.
Ning took his staff back, and the man limped back to the Doctors Guild. Ning, on the other hand, ran elsewhere to collect more Corpse Qi to destroy it.
"If I steal the enemy's Qi, I can help the people win more battles," he thought. He then ran around, looking for places where battles were happening.
He encountered another battle between a woman and another woman who was using a bird and a cat monster. She was a member of the Mist Origin Sect, and for them, fighting with tamed beasts was just a daily occurrence.
However, this woman was clearly losing to the enemy. Ning saw a rotten, broken snake corpse a little further away.
She had already lost another beast.
Ning approached, wanting to help. Just then, he realized he knew this person.
"Sister Soria?" he said in surprise.
The woman glanced to the side, then refocused on the battle. Now was not the time for distractions.
"Oh, that person seems to know you. A friend?" the blue-skinned woman asked.
"Why does that matter to you?" Soria asked. Soria did not get a good look at Ning's face, so she could not tell who he was from the cloth and bald head.
The blue-skinned woman said nothing and rushed forward to attack with her sword. Soria had her own sword, and she used it to block the incoming sword.
However, the woman changed the sword's course at the last second, blocking the spear coming from the side. However, that was useless.
The spear pierced through the sword and slammed into her head, shattering it in one shot. The blow from the true spear was too much for her to handle.
"Oh, she's dead? She must be weaker than the last girl," Ning said.
Soria looked on in shock before her. The woman who had given her so much trouble, and even lost a tamed beast, was killed just like that.
"How..." She could not express any thoughts in her mind.
"Are you alright, Sister Soria?" Ning asked, as he began to steal all the Corpse Qi she and her beasts might have gotten. The dead woman was within range, so Ning also managed to steal from her.
"How do you know my name?" Soria asked. She still had not recognized who he was.
"It's me, Ning. It's only been a few months, how could you forget me?" Ning asked.
Soria finally recognized him, and her eyes widened. "You...how did you get so strong?" she asked in shock.
"Let's not worry about that now. I need to go help more people. Can you go get some help yourself?" Ning asked.
Soria nodded and started to walk away. Now was not the time to catch up on lost time. Ning also left the area. He needed to help as many people as possible.
