101: Three buildings
Ning opened his eyes, which gleamed with a new light. After 30 days of studying various books, he had neglected both cultivation and energy accumulation.
Fortunately, he could quickly gather energy with Qi. Even so, his cultivation still lacked a lot of effort. He had been practicing slowly, but the vast amount of information in his mind distracted him.
However, after fully understanding the knowledge he had acquired, he was finally free to cultivate, and within a day, he broke through in both body and Qi.
He was now a cultivator at the Six Qi Condensation Realm, with his body cultivation close to the Seventh Level, which was something he had never dreamed of achieving in Clavis in less than a year.
Ning walked out of his room, still bald as usual, but with a calm heart and a bright smile, he headed towards the Disciple Hall, where they assign you to work at the Physicians Guild.
“Hello, I’ve been here for a month and need to start working at the Physicians Guild as per regulations. Do you know what I should do?” he asked the person registering different people.
The bald man looked at him and smiled gently, saying, “Good morning, brother. Please give me your identification, and I’ll give you a note so you can go to work at the Physicians Guild.”
Ning did as requested, took out his identification, and handed it to the person, who made a small note and gave it to Ning.
“Take this to the person at the Physicians Guild registration, and they will tell you what to do,” the person said.
“Thank you, big brother,” Ning said before leaving the sect. He walked for a few minutes until he reached the other side of the city center and arrived at the Physicians Guild.
He walked to the registration desk and handed him the registration slip. “I’m starting work today. Please tell me what to do,” Ning said. The person looked at the slip and called someone.
“What’s up, big brother?” a bald young man came out from inside.
“Brother Ning is new. Let him see what you do every day. He will follow you today,” the person at the registration desk said.
“Ah, I understand. Good morning, Brother Ning. My name is Samode. Please follow me. I’ll give you a tour of the Guild,” he said as he walked into the Guild. Ning had been there once before, so he knew how large the place was.
The registration hall outside was insignificant compared to the entire building. Ning followed Samode, who introduced him to the entire Physicians Guild.
The Physicians Guild not only had people from the Pure Purification Sect, but most of them did come from there. There were also some who just wanted to learn to be a doctor but didn't want to join the sect.
Therefore, the Guild was divided into three sections: the Volunteer Hall, the Doctor Hall, and the Study Hall.
The Study Hall was where different people learned new knowledge to become doctors. This place had the same books as the Pure Purification Sect, but studying cost money. If they wanted to read for free, they had to join the sect.
The Doctor Hall was the main attraction of the Guild, where practicing doctors resided and provided treatment to different patients who came here.
The Volunteer Hall was similar to the Doctor Hall; however, these people were those who wanted to become doctors, and they could only treat minor illnesses and injuries, which was just a waste of time for more qualified doctors.
These people also didn't earn money, and thus usually only worked there to gain experience for when they became doctors.
Ning was a bit surprised when he heard this. “Can anyone become a volunteer?” he asked as he walked down the corridor of the Volunteer Hall.
Samode said, “No. If you want to start volunteering, you need to pass a small test. They need to make sure you can treat injuries before they send injured people to you.”
“Of course, that makes a lot of sense. So, I guess volunteers also have to take some tests to become a doctor?” Ning asked.
“Oh, yes,” Samode said. “They actually need to take three different tests. The first identifies injuries, the second identifies different ingredients, and the third identifies which injury each medicine is used to treat.”
“That’s quite a lot of tests, isn’t it?” Ning asked.
“Yes, but we need these doctors so we can select the best ones from the volunteers who can do their job with the lowest error rate,” Samode said.
Then he led Ning to the Doctor Hall. The Doctor Hall had multiple different rooms, each with its own doctor.
“This is why most of us come here, Brother Ning. Our job is to take care of the doctors. You only need to do it once a day, but if you end up becoming a master of a doctor, they can keep you with them forever so you can learn from them.”
“This is exactly what most people truly want to do. Receive guidance from a talented doctor, pass the test to become a volunteer, and then learn enough to eventually become a doctor. Ah, what a beautiful dream. Unfortunately, people like me will never achieve it,” Samode said, frustrated.
“I believe you will succeed one day, Brother Samode. You just have to keep hoping,” Ning said.
“Sigh, that’s true. I always feel despair when I think about these things,” Samode said. Ning smiled and walked behind him, leading him through corridors until he reached a special door.
“It’s right there, that’s where Elder Neil works. I’m his assistant today. Come on, I’ll show you what happens.”
