106: Medical knowledge
"Did you touch it?" her brother asked.
"Yes, but only once. I threw it away after getting pricked a bit by a thorn," the girl said.
Upon hearing this, Ula's eyes sparkled. "Little girl, can you tell this uncle what that flower looked like?" he asked.
"Um... it was this big," she said, making a small shape with her hands that were covered in rashes and bumps. "And... and... its color was like this," she said, pointing to the purple lining of Ula's clothes.
"Do you remember anything else about the flower?" Ula asked.
"Um... it had little hands reaching out from inside it," she said.
"Flower of Hell," Ula said with sudden realization.
"Ning, bring me my board," he said.
Ning nodded with a smile and quickly retrieved the slate for the doctor, handing it to him. Ula began to take out different materials and started crushing them.
However, he made them into powder, divided the powder into two different parts, placed them on different papers, and then folded them.
"Give her one today, mixed with a cup of water, and another one tomorrow morning as soon as she wakes up. That should be enough," Ula said.
"Thank you, Doctor... What about the price?" he asked.
"It's... 4 gold coins," Ula said.
"This is 5 silver coins higher than the actual price, but it's fine. He's not as bad as Elder Neil, who would take 4 more gold coins," Ning thought.
The man paid 4 gold coins and left the room after thanking Ula. Ning took the gold coins outside and returned to Ula.
"Ah, thank you for coming back. I was really afraid I'd mess up my first time and not be able to properly examine that girl," Ula said.
"It's alright, it's alright. I know it's your first day, you need some time to adjust."
"Yes, yes. Here, please take this as a thank you," Ula said, handing him something. Ning stepped forward to see what it was; it was the 5 silver coins he had given him.
"What is this for?" Ning asked.
Ula said, "You helped me, didn't you? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have figured out the problem, so as a thank you, I've given you all the silver coins I took from the patient. However, I probably shouldn't have taken 5 silver coins, and just given you something from my own pocket."
Ning smiled at the answer.
For the rest of the day, Ning had to help him from time to time, but Ula was competent for most of the work. By the end of the day, he was no longer nervous and finally started acting like a true doctor.
Ning returned to his small hut to rest after another day of cultivation.
In the following days, Ning was constantly assigned to seemingly incompetent doctors, not because they didn't know what they were doing, but due to other factors.
Some were new, some were very old, some were too arrogant, which was detrimental to themselves, and some just didn't like to work, so they would try to prolong each patient for over an hour.
On the other hand, the registration hall kept sending patients who looked disgusting or bloody directly to the doctor he was assisting.
He didn't even need to guess; he knew it was all Elder Neil's doing.
"Bastard, in two more weeks, I won't have to do this kind of thing anymore," Ning thought.
Today was his day off; he only needed to work 6 days a week, and on the 7th day, he could go to the study hall to learn new things.
Today, Ning wanted to see if there was anything interesting inside, so he walked over and checked it out. There were elders giving lectures in the grand hall, teaching people different things.
Ning stood and listened for a few minutes, then realized there was nothing there he didn't already know. So, he walked to the book section and flipped through different books.
The books here were different from those he had learned from in the sect library back then, but he quickly realized that the content was largely the same.
"There's nothing left for me to learn in the Pure Purification Sect," he thought.
"System, tell me all the medical knowledge about diseases, poisons, and other things on Kumiya Planet," he said.
<This is the medical knowledge required for Kumiya Planet>
<Kumiya Basic Medical Knowledge - 36,000,000 Energy>
<Kumiya Beginner Medical Knowledge - 360,000,000 Energy>
<Kumiya Intermediate Medical Knowledge - 3,600,000,000 Energy>
<Kumiya Advanced Medical Knowledge - 36,000,000,000 Energy>
<Kumiya Omniscient Medical Knowledge - 360,000,000,000 Energy>
"How much energy do I have?" He quickly checked his status and found that he now had about 7 billion energy. "Hmm... most of it came from Qi, so it should be discarded because it's useless."
He said, "System, buy the intermediate version."
<Confirmed>
Information flooded his mind, more than he had imagined. He soon learned that the Pure Purification Sect only knew 2% of the whole matter.
"I guess that's understandable; their cultivation level is very low," Ning thought.
He also had to purchase information about ingredients, as many new names he knew nothing about suddenly appeared in his mind. Therefore, he spent 2 billion energy to purchase the intermediate version of the knowledge.
After learning all of this, he knew he no longer needed to learn anything from the Physicians Association's study hall. So, he walked to the part of the study hall where they took exams and signed up before returning to his hut.
Soon, he would also become a volunteer.
