154: Confident show
Xu Zhiyou contacted the program's PD, obtained information about the returning or debuting groups, and started looking at the group members and song themes.
It took her an hour to go through all the materials. Lisa felt like she didn't even know her anymore; the Xu Zhiyou she knew would never put in extra effort if she could be lazy.
She never expected Xu Zhiyou to look at materials for an hour without blinking. "Oh my! Jisoo, isn't Zoe sick?"
Kim Ji-soo couldn't understand what Lisa was being so dramatic about. Why make such a fuss just because someone is looking at documents? "What's wrong?"
"Besides comebacks, I've never seen her take anything so seriously. It's just an MC job; there's no need to study for such a long time, right?"
Kim Ji-soo was truly frustrated. Every time she went to be an MC for Inkigayo, she practiced over and over again, just to avoid making mistakes.
Xu Zhiyou spent an hour on this, and Lisa thought it was too much time, which made Kim Ji-soo feel uncomfortable.
"Lisa! Is an hour a lot? I prepare for an entire night. Are you trying to disgust me or praise her?"
"Pfft hahahaha~~"
Park Chaeyoung and Kim Jennie exchanged a look, and finally couldn't hold back their laughter. Kim Ji-soo's expression, as if she had eaten something foul, was truly hilarious.
"Mianhae! Jisoo, I really wasn't targeting you. For Zoe, an hour is a lot of time, after all, she's not like us."
"Pfft! Even more frustrating."
This sentence not only failed to comfort her but also reminded her of the days when she first became an MC, staying up all night, every night, preparing for battle.
Then looking at Xu Zhiyou, who finished everything in an hour, damn! Why is the world so unfair? It's practically killing Show Ge.
"Hahaha! Lisa! I think if you keep talking, Jisoo will really get depressed. Don't you know how much effort she put into being an MC?"
"Uh???" Lisa really wanted to cry.
She didn't think anyone in the entertainment industry could compare to Xu Zhiyou's intelligence. An MIT high-achiever, is there even a need for comparison?
Seeing the silent Lisa, Kim Ji-soo still offered a word of comfort, "It's okay! Lisa, I'm just reminiscing about the past, it has nothing to do with you."
Xu Zhiyou tidied up the materials and said with disdain, "If you three have nothing to do, go rest in the waiting room. What are you doing in the control room?"
Park Chaeyoung immediately shot back, "Can't we come and see how you and Jisoo operate as MCs?"
"Fine, fine! Just don't cause trouble, got it? If you make me laugh on stage later, I'll come down and fight you."
"Is that how you ask for a favor?" Park Chaeyoung actually had that intention. The main point of a music show MC is to be cheerful.
A laugh might even improve the show's effect. There's a saying, 'a smile that could topple cities,' which suits Xu Zhiyou and Kim Ji-soo perfectly.
"Then how should I ask? Should I bow down to you?"
"No need for that, I can't accept such a grand gesture. Just a few dozen solo songs will do."
"Chaeyoung! I've noticed you're missing something."
"Missing what?"
"A beating!"
"There are so many people here, try touching me. Don't you believe that tomorrow there will be rumors of the BP leader bullying the main vocalist?"
The staff also cooperatively turned their heads away, pretending not to notice. A few dozen solo songs at the drop of a hat? Even if she got a beating, fans probably wouldn't say anything.
"No one's looking now, prepare to die."
"Yah! If you mess up my makeup and styling, you're finished. I might not be able to do anything to you, but Leah Unnie is right outside. Think carefully before you act."
Kim Jennie pulled Lisa aside to hide, and Kim Ji-soo also wisely stepped back. Xu Zhiyou hated being threatened the most, and she detested being cursed at.
During her trainee days, she punched people upstairs and downstairs at YG, mostly for these two reasons. When she went crazy, she'd even beat herself up; she was too brave.
Lisa glanced at Park Chaeyoung, who was still showing off, "Jennie-oni, should we save her?"
"Who's fault is it if she courts death? Besides, she has to go on stage soon, so she won't be dealt with too harshly, don't worry!"
Xu Zhiyou found their little actions somewhat speechless. "What are you doing? Do I look like someone who can't take a joke? What's with hiding so far away?"
Kim Ji-soo reminded her, "Don't you dislike it when people threaten you?"
"I dislike real threats. If this counts as a threat, I'd be busy to death."
Her temper was a bit volatile, but she wasn't crazy. It seemed she needed to salvage her image in their minds in the future; it was too heartbreaking.
"Uh???"
The three exchanged glances; it was true. They had only thought of her fierce past exploits and had forgotten this detail.
Park Chaeyoung then realized why the three of them reacted that way. After all this time together, was this all the trust they had?
"Yo-ho! Zoe, look, this is their true face. Do you see it clearly now? From now on, besides work, it's better to keep your distance. Our feelings have truly faded."
"Yah! Chaeyoung, what do you mean? What kind of face do we have? And our feelings have faded? Are you trying to show off?" Kim Jennie went over and gave her a cat scratch.
After getting hit, Park Chaeyoung came to her senses. She had indeed gotten a bit carried away and quickly admitted defeat, saying, "Jennie-oni, I was talking about Lisa! Not you."
"Chaeyoung! Was that 'them' referring to me? Can I split myself, or what? You really want to die, don't you? So good at courting death."
Xu Zhiyou checked the time. She planned to use the remaining time to watch the hosting styles of previous MCs and draw some inspiration.
"Show Ge, kick them out. They're an eyesore in here."
"I agree, they're just causing trouble."
"Yah! How are we an eyesore?" The three were all indignant.
Kim Ji-soo stepped forward, taking Jennie with her left hand and Lisa with her right, sending them off in one go. Next was Park Chaeyoung. After finishing, she didn't forget to exclaim, "Wow! The whole world is quiet."
"Pfft~~" There weren't many people in the control room, and the sound of suppressed laughter was particularly grating.
They had seen online that BP had a good relationship and could joke around freely, but they hadn't believed it until they saw it firsthand.
Words like bullying, faded feelings, and estrangement—all sensitive terms—were thrown around casually, along with the act of directly picking people up and throwing them out.
If this was acting, their acting skills would have to be incredibly good. In any case, they couldn't tell.
Kim Ji-soo saw Xu Zhiyou watching videos of previous MCs hosting, and finally found an opportunity to show off.
"Zoe, if there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me."
Xu Zhiyou looked at her, with her expression saying, 'Ask me, I have experience,' and felt like laughing. However, she truly had nothing to ask.
"Nothing!"
"You should ask! I really do have experience, like acting cute on stage, that trick works wonders... Yah! Why are you laughing? Are you looking down on me?"
"I truly have no questions for you. You're a senior in this MC field, why would I look down on you?"
"You clearly do!"
"I really don't! It's your own inferiority complex acting up, and you're blaming me?"
"You're the one with an inferiority complex! I'm a top popular idol, the Kpop visual mountain range, the most popular MC, a future Blue Dragon Best Actress, a Chungmuro actor... do I need to feel inferior?"
The more Xu Zhiyou listened, the more she felt this person had become so shameless, really patting herself on the back. There were still other people around; it was truly unbearable to watch.
"Pfft hahahaha~~"
The staff truly couldn't hold back their laughter. Fortunately, the show hadn't started yet, otherwise, such a blunder would have directly caused a broadcast accident.
Kim Ji-soo had been an MC here for several months, usually maintaining a demure and cute image, nothing like how lively she was now.
