43: Debut showcase

As soon as the V Live broadcast room opened, a lot of people poured in. Their group could be said to be the most heavily promoted group by YG.

Bigbang and 2NE1 were constantly having issues, and a successor group was urgently needed to hold the fort.

Many groups like TWICE's nine members, Red Velvet's five members, and SEVENTEEN were all waiting in the live broadcast room.

There were also K-pop fans from Xia Nation, commonly known as Panda Sisters. If there was a Xia Nation member in any Peninsula group,

regardless of their skill, they would first click follow. As fellow compatriots, Panda Sisters were very supportive, and if the member showed some promise, they would become absolutely loyal.

The host began to cue the flow.

"Yeorobun!"

"Today marks YG's first new girl group in seven years, broadcast live on V Live, and will also feature the first public release of the debut song MVs for 'Whistle' and 'Boombayah'."

"This group is a bit special. The songwriting and lyrics are entirely handled by the leader, Zoe, and the MV content was collaboratively decided by the five members, with Zoe directing the filming."

"They are also the first creative girl group in K-pop. Now, please enjoy the behind-the-scenes footage of their MV filming and song recording."

The first scene on the big screen was of the five of them self-directing and self-acting, and the live broadcast room was buzzing with excitement.

"Is this still the creative girl group I understand? How come they're even taking on the director's role themselves!"

"All lyrics and music, shooting their own MVs, choreographing their own dances, ugh! Actually, they don't have to go this far; songwriting and composition are enough!"

"I thought this was the female version of Bigbang, but it seems Bigbang wasn't this awesome!"

...

In the Red Velvet dorm, Kang Seul-gi, munching on potato chips, kept making sounds while watching the live broadcast.

"Seulgi, if you make that sound again, I'll throw you out!"

"Don't you think they're amazing? They're truly original from start to finish. I can accept the choreography and lyrics, but even directing themselves? Do they have to go this big?"

"Do you have to make sounds if you think they're amazing? Are you sick? When will you change your bear-like behavior?"

"Uh! That's true, I'll shut up." Kang Seul-gi was glared at; if she said anything more, she might get beaten by her leader.

Kim Yerim didn't even have time to tease Kang Seul-gi; this was somewhat disheartening. Did YG really need to do this?

If all groups had to develop in this direction in the future, they would truly be worked to death.

After watching the MV filming bloopers, the interspersed scenes made Xu Zhiyou want to cry. She covered her face and sat on the ground, feeling dejected.

"What's wrong?" Kim Ji-soo didn't understand what kind of trouble she was stirring up again, looking like her father had died.

"What the hell is the publicity team doing? They only showed the scene where I was being chased by Chaeyoung with a slipper, and they edited me to look so pathetic. How am I supposed to make a living in the future? Don't I have any dignity!"

"Hahahaha~"

Originally, everyone just thought it was funny, but after she said that, everyone, including the manager and staff, couldn't hold back their laughter. The backstage was filled with joy.

"It's okay! You still have your highlight moment in the recording studio. You looked really cool scolding us!" Kim Jennie comforted her.

"Then let's watch again and see how the editor cut it. They made me look so pathetic. They want extra chicken legs for this? They're not even sticky enough for chicken shit."

Leah had a bit of a headache. "Yah! Don't say such things."

The scene switched to the recording studio. After watching, Xu Zhiyou's heart shattered. The earlier pathetic parts were bad enough, but then they cut in all the quotes where she critiqued the four members.

Her life was completely dark. She hadn't even debuted yet and was already labeled as a funny, silly girl. How was she supposed to play this?

"Zoe, is her name Zoe? How can her personality be so goofy? Haha~"

"She called our Rose a 'dead clipper' and said her voice was suitable for cracking walnuts. No wonder she was chased and beaten with a slipper. But I really like Zoe's personality. Haha!"

"At first, I thought it was because she, as the leader, couldn't command respect, but it turns out it was because her mouth was too sassy that she got beaten. Hahahaha!"

"Although her mouth is a bit sassy, her strength is truly impressive, amazing! No wonder she can be the leader!"

"Indeed, our Jennie was very strong during her trainee period, but I didn't expect Zoe to be able to guide her. She really has something!"

...

Even after watching all the bloopers, there were no powerful or imposing shots of her. Instead, Park Chaeyoung was edited to be a brave warrior who dared to swing a slipper at her leader.

Seeing Park Chaeyoung grinning widely and happily, Xu Zhiyou got angry and kicked Park Chaeyoung in the butt.

"Laugh, laugh, what are you laughing at? Everyone's calling me an idiot now, and you're still enjoying it."

"I didn't edit it. If you have the guts, go kick the editor. Why kick me!"

"I'll just kick you. Got a problem? Then hold it in."

"Hahahaha~"

Park Chaeyoung rarely saw her looking so dejected, so she didn't care about being kicked and just enjoyed the moment.

Previous debut VCRs were all unremarkable. Yang Hyun-suk thought that since Xu Zhiyou was shameless enough, they could use her as a promotional gimmick.

Who told her to be the leader? If she didn't sacrifice, who would? There would be no loss. From being chased and beaten at the beginning to later for her sassy mouth,

it also set the stage for her personality. Rather than trying to establish a persona for her, it was safer to let it gradually unfold.

The host remained expressionless after watching, while the reporters below were all having a great time. He, however, showed no emotion at all.

This is called professionalism, but a closer look would reveal that the curve of his lips betrayed him.

In the TWICE practice room, the nine of them were also having a blast. This Xu Zhiyou was too funny. At first, they thought she was a cool and aloof older sister.

But it turned out she was just a goofball. Her mouth was like a machine gun, spitting out all sorts of jokes, and she would even PUA her members.

"Tzuyu! Look, you're both from Xia Nation, but her mouth is like it has a motor, while yours is like it's blocked with cement. Learn from her."

"Nayeon-onni, you were both elementary school classmates. Look how steady Kim Ji-soo is!"

"Yah! Are you saying I'm not steady enough?"

Chou Tzuyu didn't answer Lim Nayeon directly but instead asked Minatozaki Sana next to her, "Is it obvious? Sana Ouni!"

"Not obvious, I didn't hear it, hahahaha~"

"Yah! I'm going to kill you two, believe it or not?"

...

The host composed himself; he still needed to cue the next part of the program.

"Yeorobun!"

"The first song combines hip-hop and electronic dance elements, with a strong rhythm, very suitable for listening in summer."

"Next, let's enjoy BLACKPINK's song MV, 'Boombayah'."

Bullet comments streamed across the screen.

"It's here, it's here, the long-awaited debut song is here."

A rhythmic melody started on the big screen. The song's intro was Xu Zhiyou, and her opening lines immediately injected soul, drawing the audience's attention.

"I love this Miss's rap. A little mouth with a motor is perfect for rapping."

"Haven't you noticed it's very catchy?"

"It seems like it will be popular. The five of them have so much star power; a top girl group is about to be born!"

"First time delivering, not much experience!!"

...

After Xu Zhiyou sang the opening lines, Kim Jennie's main rap part followed. This part perfectly suited her vocal color, coupled with her cool expression.

"Jennie! Your rap is so soulful. No wonder you were designated as the ACE, amazing!!!"

"I love this Unnie's rap too. She looks so cute! I really want to poke her cheek."

...

Then came Kim Ji-soo's part. Her clear, cool voice was also suitable for this segment, bringing out each person's unique characteristics to the fullest.

Next were Lisa and Park Chaeyoung, and the bullet comments were flying, especially during the 'wiping the floor' segment, with everyone saying Park Chaeyoung wore the most expensive clothes to wipe the cleanest floor.
