81: Cheating
Bae Joo-hyun forgot to be angry and stared at her with wide eyes, asking, "You really don't know them?"
Xu Zhiyou really wanted to say, isn't it obvious enough how I am? What kind of question is that! She winked frantically at her.
She wanted to say she knew Lim Yoona, but that would be too tactless, implying that Lim Yoona was famous. Thinking it wasn't appropriate, she decided to treat everyone equally, so no one would have an opinion.
Bae Joo-hyun was certain, she really didn't know them. "Zoe, you need to catch up on this. It's easy to be targeted in variety shows later."
"Irene, aren't you going to introduce them? Are you really going to make Show Ge do it?" This girl was too clueless.
Kim Ji-soo was already nervous enough, and she was made to stand there. She winked at her, but Bae Joo-hyun pretended not to see it, insisting that Kim Ji-soo speak for herself.
"Oh, no need. They just introduced themselves. How about you, which one do you want to start with?"
"Which one is the visual? They all look very pretty! Let's start with the prettiest one." You won't be able to trick me, let's see how you handle this.
Bae Joo-hyun really wanted to kick her to death. What kind of nonsense was that? Who was she supposed to introduce?
"Irene, what's wrong? Don't you know who the visual is?" Lim Yoona looked at her with a cheerful, devilish smile. Lim Yoona was too cunning; Bae Joo-hyun couldn't afford to offend her.
She turned to look at the other seven, who were all smiling at her. "I don't know them, you ask them yourself!"
She sat back in her original seat. If she couldn't afford to offend them, couldn't she at least avoid them?
Son Seung-wan nudged Kim Jennie with her shoulder and said, "Zoe has something going on. Look at what she did to Irene."
Kim Jennie shook her head and said nothing, thinking, sure enough, she still had that personality of getting revenge overnight. Bae Joo-hyun made her embarrassed, and she immediately paid her back.
"What's wrong? You're still shaking your head. Did she used to trick you guys like this too?" Son Seung-wan saw there was gossip to be had.
"Not really, the key is we couldn't out-trick her."
Kim Jennie wanted to trick her but didn't dare. Xu Zhiyou would constantly tell her ghost stories and even use underworld music as her alarm clock. She couldn't stand it.
Son Seung-wan felt Kim Jennie shiver, so there must be a story. "Tell me, quietly, she can't hear us."
"It's really nothing!" Could Kim Jennie say that Xu Zhiyou had scared her so badly several times that she almost wet herself? Definitely not.
"Then I'll ask Lisa, she definitely knows." Son Seung-wan looked at Lisa, who was trying hard to suppress her laughter. She definitely knew.
"Wendy *oni*, I don't know. I'm hungry. Ask Chaeyoung." She lowered her head and fiddled with her grass.
Kim Jennie had been teased by Xu Zhiyou in various embarrassing ways, so she definitely couldn't say anything, otherwise Kim Jennie would kill her.
"Chaeyoung, why don't you tell us!" Son Seung-wan turned her gaze to Park Chaeyoung.
"How would I know? She and Jennie-oni have always been mysterious. I wanted to get involved, but they wouldn't let me!"
Who hasn't been teased? Everyone has a dark past. This door cannot be opened; once it's open, it's over.
"Kim Ji-soo!"
"I don't know either!"
"I'm even more curious now." Son Seung-wan's curiosity was piqued; she had to find out.
Xu Zhiyou was currently chatting animatedly with the eight members of Girls' Generation, with no time to listen to them. She was no longer that hopelessly illiterate person.
Having read so many books and endured so much hardship studying, it was time to show off; she had to show off.
She used her usual flattery, saying whatever sounded good, which greatly amused the eight of them.
Bae Joo-hyun recalled Xu Zhiyou praising her back then, and looking at her now, she couldn't help but sigh, "Indeed, people are always like this when you first meet them, hypocritical and polite."
"Hahaha! Irene, you're good at summarizing." Kang Seul-gi also felt that this description fit Xu Zhiyou quite well.
Before they knew each other, she called her Seulgi Unnie with such enthusiasm. After they became familiar, it was, 'Hey, that Silly Bear,' truly unparalleled.
"Actually, she's quite good this way. She speaks to people in their language and to ghosts in theirs. Such a person can get by." Kim Yerim admired her greatly; at least she couldn't do it.
As for face, Xu Zhiyou seemingly never cared much about it. She would say how important it was, but in her actions, she didn't take it seriously at all.
"Zoe, when do you guys have a break? Let's go for a barbecue."
"Yoona Eonni, we have variety shows, and award ceremonies, and a year-end Gayo Daejejeon. We don't have time!"
"Variety shows? What variety show?" Lim Yoona was quite curious.
BLACKPINK had not appeared on any variety show since their debut. They usually shot magazine covers and advertisements, and that was it.
"Weekly Idol. You've been there. How are the hosts? They won't make things difficult for me, will they?"
Xu Zhiyou heard that Peninsula variety show hosts liked to make things difficult for green card members, and she didn't know if it was true.
If they made things difficult for her, should she just use her iron fist, or kick them? She needed to think about this carefully.
"You're asking me? How would I know? But, I guess, probably not."
Someone like Xu Zhiyou, who clearly had a lot of power, wouldn't usually be offended by ordinary people. Everyone in the entertainment industry was a shrewd individual.
"That's good then. I'm afraid I won't be able to resist slapping someone."
"That won't do. If you hit someone on the show, do you not want to be in the industry anymore?" Lim Yoona didn't know why, but she felt like Xu Zhiyou would actually do it.
"I'll try!"
She was too lazy to explain. For those who actively provoked her, she would never choose to swallow her anger. She was an illegal immigrant; why would she care about such things?
Kim Ji-soo suddenly remembered Xu Zhiyou's personality and turned to Bae Joo-hyun, asking, "Do the Weekly Idol hosts make things difficult for green card members?"
"Jeong Hyeong-don sunbaenim is very respectful and won't deliberately make things difficult for people, so don't worry!" Bae Joo-hyun could understand her concerns.
Some shows were indeed disgusting, but that was only a small portion. Most were just trying to make money and weren't so brain-dead as to deliberately target people.
"It seems I'll have to thoroughly investigate variety shows before accepting them in the future." Kim Ji-soo noted this down. She didn't object to Xu Zhiyou beating people up.
But it definitely couldn't happen on a show. Privately, anything was fine, but if it became public, it would be difficult to resolve.
"Is there a need for that? Which artist doesn't suffer grievances? Just endure it and it'll pass."
Even as natives of the Peninsula, weren't they still put in difficult situations? Since they chose the path of fame and fortune, this phenomenon was unavoidable.
"It's different. She doesn't need to!"
Kim Ji-soo could understand Xu Zhiyou. She truly didn't care about these things. Not only did she say it, but her actions were also clear enough.
When it came to part distribution or dance highlights, she always had the least. Kim Ji-soo always had a feeling that she would leave the group tomorrow.
The more she didn't fight or contend, the more anxious Kim Ji-soo became. The first few stages after debut were full of passion, but the more they went on, the more she slacked off.
The dinner ended shortly after. In the car, Xu Zhiyou was busy chatting with Lim Yoona; the two of them chatted from beginning to end.
Lim Yoona taught her many secrets for doing variety shows. This was something she had to learn well. It was their first time on a variety show, and Kim Jennie and her two socially anxious members would need it.
