271: A hot pot meal
Seeing how perfunctorily she was treating her, Lisa’s gaze swept to Kim Jennie, who was sitting there constantly scrolling on her phone. Her eyes swirled, and an idea sparked.
She moved in front of her, tugged at her sleeve, and said with a look of indignation, “Jennie-oni, look at her! She’s gotten to the point where she can’t even be bothered to pretend to care about us anymore…”
“Get lost!” Kim Jennie swatted her hand away. This kind of low-level provocation was an insult to her.
Lisa, unwilling to give up, tried to provoke her further: “Oh my, Jennie-oni, could it be that you…”
Seeing that she was still incessantly chattering, Kim Jennie turned her face towards Kim Ji-soo.
“I don’t want to hear it, and I don’t care, Three Mouths.” After saying that, she continued to scroll on her phone.
Lisa looked at her eldest Unnie’s expressionless face, then glanced at the quiet and obedient Park Chaeyoung next to her, and felt a chill down her spine.
She shook her head and obediently sat back down. She was a delinquent, not an idiot. Even the most boisterous Park Chaeyoung was quietly shrinking back.
How brain-damaged would she have to be to go looking for trouble? She couldn’t afford to provoke her at all. Time to retreat, retreat.
Kim Ji-soo noticed Lisa shaking her head at her, raised her eyes, and glanced at her indifferently: “What? Do you have an opinion?”
“Huh!” Lisa shivered, waving her hands repeatedly, “Aniyo, how could I? You must be thirsty, right? I’ll go…”
Kim Ji-soo, seeing that she was about to slip away, stopped her: “Alright, sit there. Am I going to eat you?”
“I…”
“I don’t want to say it a second time.” A calm, expressionless face, coupled with a toneless voice.
Lisa was so scared that she plopped back down onto the sofa, and Park Chaeyoung and Kim Jennie next to her also shrank their necks in fright.
Park Chaeyoung’s inner monologue: “Look, in the daytime, she acts like a weak, white lotus, but at night, she transforms into a tigress. With white lotuses in power, the world is truly going downhill!”
She turned her head to look at Kim Jennie, and remembering the image of her constantly using a feather duster to explain physics, she shook her head and continued to grumble: “None of the Kims are any good, ptooey~”
Kim Jennie, on the other hand, kept praying silently: “She can’t see me, she can’t see me. Amen… Amitabha, mwah!”
Xu Zhiyou saw Kim Ji-soo’s gloomy expression. She threw all thoughts of 2NE1 and starting a company out of her mind; watching the show was most important.
She slid over to Kim Ji-soo’s side, put her hand on her shoulder, and said, “Show Ge, come on, tell me your sorrows and let me have a good laugh.”
Even without her saying it, she knew it must be about the drop tower from the morning. She had experience with this kind of thing.
Before, she and Park Chaeyoung were the only ones who were experts at being embarrassing, but now they had a new formidable member, which was worth celebrating.
Kim Ji-soo looked at her smug face, a tic-tac-toe symbol appearing on her forehead, and swatted her hand away: “Scram~”
“If you’re not going to tell me, then I’ll look myself.” She snatched her phone and darted to the side, “Oh my, oh my, oh my.”
“Are you trying to die!” Kim Ji-soo reached out to grab it, “Give it back to me.”
Xu Zhiyou dodged with a quick movement: “Show Ge, fans are asking if you peed yourself?”
If Kim Ji-soo was just gloomy a moment ago, now she was furious, the kind of furious that would kill someone if not vented.
“Aish.” Regardless of whether she could beat Xu Zhiyou, she grabbed a cushion from the sofa and started hitting her, “I’ll kill you.”
“Hey, hey, hey! I… Oh my, you’re really going for it… Ouch~” She tried to speak again but was hit by the pillow.
Kim Jennie and the other two, seeing this situation, couldn’t sit still and hid in the bathroom, peeking through a crack in the door to watch the show.
Lisa watched Xu Zhiyou being chased up and down, grinning and saying, “Should we go and break it up?”
“Break it up?” Park Chaeyoung looked at her incredulously, “Lisa, are you sick?”
“I…”
Kim Jennie interrupted her: “Lisa, it’s not me talking, but at a time like this, instead of thinking about handing over a feather duster, you’re thinking about breaking up a fight. What exactly are you thinking?”
“Uh???” Lisa suddenly felt these two were so unfamiliar.
Partnering with these two, she wondered if she would die young. She wanted to jump ship, but she didn't know if it was too late?
Peninsula, Cube Entertainment, Minnie was watching the MV for their new song… or rather, a hastily recorded studio video of them singing.
“The song is so good, why make such a video? If you don’t have money, tell me. Is YG that poor?”
Song Yuqi picked her ear: “I say, Nicha, are you focusing on the wrong thing? Isn’t it enough that the song is good?”
“No, you don’t understand. A song this good, if the MV and everything else were strengthened, it would definitely be a huge hit single. As it is now…” She suddenly trailed off. It seemed that even without an MV, it was still incredibly popular.
“Hmm?” Song Yuqi, seeing her suddenly go silent, asked curiously, “Why did you stop?!”
Minnie scratched her head: “I forgot the song is already a hit. This damned professional sensitivity, I got too carried away. A miscalculation, a miscalculation.”
“Uh???” Cho Mi-yeon stared at her blankly, wondering if she was seeing herself.
She shook her head, shaking off this inexplicable thought: “Rainie, what do you think Zoe is thinking?”
“The internet is mocking her for using too many songs to create buzz. If she released them herself, wouldn’t that prove it?”
“What can one song prove?” She shook her head, “Besides, if people say she’s creating buzz, is she really going to release everything? Is she still going to live her life?”
“Didn’t she say she would release a proper album?” Minnie interjected, “Isn’t that enough proof?”
“No!” Song Yuqi wagged her index finger, “It can prove it, but that’s not her style.”
“Then…”
“Alright, Nicha, don’t ‘then’ anymore, and let’s not guess. We’ll know when the time comes. Anyway, we won’t lose anything.”
At the TWICE dorm, the other members were listening to music, but Lim Nayeon was the only one constantly laughing foolishly while watching a video of Ji-soo’s exaggerated facial expressions.
“Pfft, hahaha! Ji-soo has no face left now. When will their new reality show air? I’m so excited, hahaha~”
Minatozaki Sana was scrolling through the song’s comment section and casually replied, “It should be tomorrow.”
Lim Nayeon finished laughing and came to her side. Seeing that she was still listening to the song, she asked, “Sana, aren’t you tired of listening to this song?”
“No, not at all. The more I listen, the more I feel it.” She tilted her head, “Look, aren’t the others listening too?”
Lim Nayeon glanced at the others and couldn’t help but click her tongue in admiration: “When it comes to songwriting, it has to be Zoe. Who would have thought that a song she came up with during a hotpot meal would be so popular? Tsk tsk!”
“Hmm???” Minatozaki Sana thought she misheard, turned her head to look at her, “You said this song was written by Zoe while eating hotpot?”
“What else?!” Lim Nayeon shrugged like a bear, “Although it’s hard to believe, that’s the truth… Ah~”
She didn’t finish speaking before Minatozaki Sana grabbed her: “Yah! Are you trying to kill me? Your nail is digging into my flesh!”
“Mianhae, I didn’t mean to.” Minatozaki Sana quickly let go, ignoring her resentful gaze.
She then asked: “When did this happen? And are you sure this song was really written by her while eating hotpot?”
“Ji-soo said so, so it should be true!”
Minatozaki Sana heard her flat tone, as if she didn’t know her, and straightened up: “Then why are you so calm?”
From her understanding of Lim Nayeon, she should be praising her profusely right now. This calm demeanor didn’t match her usual behavior of being a sycophant to Xu Zhiyou.
