37: Filming debut MV

“It’s just an example, don’t worry about it!”

“Then you can use Lisa or Chaeyoung, why me?”

“I’m talking about you! If you have the guts, hit me. If you don’t, shut up, or I’ll give you the complete collection of supernatural stories.”

“No! I won’t say anything else.”

“Tch!” What a coward.

Park Chaeyoung and Lisa were watching from the side, wanting to laugh badly but not daring to, fearing the war would spread to them, so they were holding it in, quite uncomfortably.

Kim Ji-soo also came out with her head down after recording, which left Xu Zhiyou speechless. What did she mean? It’s not like she hadn’t done a feature before.

Wasn’t she very excited back then? Why was she like this now, with her?

“Come over and watch, it’s my part now. We’ll eat after I finish recording.”

“Okay!”

The four of them huddled together, watching Xu Zhiyou. They were also eager to see how strong Xu Zhiyou’s abilities truly were; they already knew she was very strong from her singing during the recording earlier.

Xu Zhiyou’s part was very short, just a few lines, so she finished in a few minutes. This was even with her not being satisfied; otherwise, she had the skill to do it in one take.

The four looked at each other, no wonder she had such high demands on them; even their vocal teacher wasn't at this level.

“Sigh! Vocals are stronger than Chaeyoung, dancing is stronger than me, rap is stronger than Jennie-oni, and visuals are even a tiny bit higher than Jisoo. This…?”

“It’s a lot of pressure being teammates with her!” Park Chaeyoung said, looking at Xu Zhiyou tidying things up in the recording studio.

The first thing Xu Zhiyou did after leaving the recording studio was to tune and then produce. After another hour, she listened to it once—perfect!

“You guys come listen and see if there’s anything else you’re not satisfied with, and we can change it.” She threw the headphones to them and sat down beside them.

She handled the entire process herself, having plenty of time, which saved her from communicating with others. She knew exactly what kind of feeling was best.

“Uh! Chaeyoung, is this your voice? Your natural voice sounds so good.” Lisa was amazed by her timbre.

“I didn’t expect it either! My voice can sound this good.”

Xu Zhiyou had brought out the unique characteristics of their voices to their fullest potential. Being together every day, Xu Zhiyou had a thorough understanding of their individual traits.

All five of them had their own unique characteristics, yet they didn’t clash, which was fitting. Those temporary groups had weak fan retention, mainly because they were too focused on showcasing themselves and overlooked overall coordination.

It’s fine for artists to showcase themselves, but not for BP. If they want to showcase themselves, there will be plenty of opportunities for solo activities later; they should focus on developing the team first.

It’s not hard for one person to break out, but it’s truly not that easy for an entire group to break out. I believe that in this life, every member of BP can become even more popular.

“Any other questions?”

“None! It’s great, you truly are our beloved leader, come give me a kiss.”

She quickly dodged Lisa’s mischievous attack, as getting a face full of saliva would be rather unseemly.

Lisa saw her smooth dodge and said, “Are you disgusted with me?”

“Is it that obvious?”

“Yah!”

“Ouch!” The transition between “yah” and “ouch” was too smooth.

Xu Zhiyou picked up the microphone nearby and hit her with it, “Feels good, next time I’ll get a microphone-shaped weapon.”

Lisa’s resentful little eyes made her look like a bullied young wife, but no one paid her any attention.

“Whistle” took two days to record because of the whistling, followed by choreography. This wasn’t difficult for her; her main focus was on being wild and cool.

After half a month of practice in the studio, they were pretty much in sync. After all, she had been a trainee for ten years in her previous life, so she could easily handle formations and such.

“Why did the company make me the visual? Will the audience be convinced?” Kim Ji-soo was a bit confused by the company’s decision; Xu Zhiyou was clearly more attractive than her.

“I really don’t have that kind of feminine charm you do. Your features are delicate, your figure is slender, and your smile is captivating. My smile makes people want to punch me, it’s that simple.”

Upon hearing this, everyone’s mouths twitched involuntarily. With that analysis, she indeed wasn’t suitable to be the visual center.

“Then why did they give me ACE?”

“ACE needs to balance the stage! To put it simply, it’s a patch-up role, moving wherever needed. I don’t want to do that kind of thing.”

“Do you think I believe you?”

“You have to believe it, even if you don’t. If you really don’t believe it, go find the CEO; he made the decision, not me.”

“Uh!!!”

“What about the main dancer then?”

“Lalisa, I’m the creative director and leader. If I also take on the main dancer role, I’ll be swamped. The same goes for the main vocalist; I barely have any lines. If these roles are given to me, what would you all do?”

“So, re-divide…”

“Are you all done or not? I already said this is good enough. If I want to showcase myself, I can release solo songs.”

“Right now, I’ll make a small sacrifice, and tomorrow, one of you will make a small sacrifice. Just don’t have any complaints later. To put it plainly, it’s for the team’s benefit, understood?”

The four of them finally understood why their CEO insisted on her being the leader. She had a strong sense of teamwork and was willing to make some personal sacrifices for the group’s development.

With such a leader, who in the group wouldn’t be convinced? She led by example, and moreover, she wrote all the songs herself.

“No, absolutely no objections. If any of those three have an issue, I’ll help you beat them up.” Kim Ji-soo was the first to set an example.

“Me too, I’ll help Jisoo beat up those two.”

“Yah! Jennie-oni, what do you mean? Why do you think we wouldn’t be sensible?”

“Exactly, Chaeyoung and I are very reasonable, aren’t we?”

“So this is so much better. Don’t be like those groups that make a mess of things just to grab a spotlight. The five of us will work together to go global.”

“Yes, Captain! Hehe!” The four of them were quite happy, with internal harmony.

“What are you pretending for? When there’s trouble, I’m the Captain, but when there’s no trouble, I’m ‘that person.’ You all said you’d listen to me, but as soon as we step out, you don’t treat me seriously. Tch!”

“Uh! It’s a habit. Haha!”

“Forget it, I won’t bother with you all. We’ve also finished practicing the choreography, so let’s go shoot the MV. The CEO promised a month, and more than half of it has passed, so I hope it’s still in time.”

“Can you really shoot an MV? But you’ve never shot one before!”

“Park Chaeyoung, do you think I wrote all those film and TV insights for nothing? If I can’t do it, who can?”

“Alright!”

Although it still felt unreliable, what would happen if they just tried it?

At the MV shooting location, with makeup done and clothes changed, she wanted it to be as cool as possible, which required some wire work.

Sitting in front of the camera, directing the four of them, it felt quite good. When she had time, she’d try directing a TV series; she still preferred directing over acting.

“Show Ge, try to make your expression as alluring as possible, yes, yes, just like that.”

“Lisa, I told you to be a bit crazy, not to act like a complete lunatic. Tone it down a bit.”

The set was filled with laughter every day because of Xu Zhiyou; her words were too amusing.

At first, the four of them would blush, but after about ten days, they became immune, having heard all sorts of outrageous remarks.

Now, she regretted why she had studied acting, as it cut off the only chance to mock her. Her previous dramatic acting would have surely made everyone on set go wild with laughter.

“Dumpling Ni, be cool. Your eyes, pay attention to your eyes. You have a sassy face, but your eyes make you look like a coward.”

“Chaeyoung, pay attention to your features; they’re fighting an internal battle just like your limbs. Where do you get such a rich and varied expression?”

“Yah! That’s enough, your features are flying all over the place!”

Park Chaeyoung wanted to throw the brick in her hand at her. With so many staff members around, she wasn’t leaving her any face at all.
