21: Summoned to the office

Walking along the Han River, I suddenly recalled a news report I'd seen, claiming the Han River had excessive levels of Viagra. I wondered if it was the same in this world.

I really wanted to get a test strip to check it, but would people think she was crazy? I decided against it.

There were talent scouts everywhere here; you couldn't walk a few steps without one handing you a business card.

If you didn't take them, it was disrespectful. If you did, they'd immediately start rambling about their company—some crappy agency with only two or three employees, yet they insisted on hyping it up as a "super potential stock."

Right in front of us was a guy spouting off incessantly, his menacing face paired with a fluctuating tone as he gave a passionate, dramatic presentation.

With that gift of gab, it was a real waste for him to be a talent scout instead of a salesman.

"Stop, stop, stop! Buddy, I suggest you change careers. I think sales would suit you well; you're definitely in the wrong lane."

"No way! I'm very passionate about this job."

"Look at the five of us—our figures, our looks—can't you tell?"

The guy rubbed his smooth head and asked, confused: "Tell what? You're all very suitable to be stars, especially you—you have such a star quality!"

"Oh my god! Let me be blunt: we're trainees from S.M. Entertainment, the kind about to debut."

"Is that so?"

"Of course! We'll be going now."

After getting far away, Kim Ji-soo asked, puzzled: "Why didn't you just say it? We're public trainees; there's no need to hide it."

"But I'm not!"

"Uh???" That was damn reasonable.

"Let's go, let's get a mask to seal away this young lady's magnificent beauty."

Hearing this, the other four looked at her face. They couldn't deny it; all the way here, the talent scouts had basically been attracted by her.

But they weren't bad either! These scouts were just blind, only staring at Xu Zhiyou.

After wandering around for about half an hour, it became boring. "Let's go back to the dorm, this is pointless!"

The four of them had been to this place many times; they only came because she was interested, otherwise, they would rather have stayed in the dorm sleeping.

Just as they were about to head back, they saw an ice cream machine on the side of the road.

"Do you guys want ice cream? They're selling it over there."

"Let's buy one and share it among the four of us; that way the calorie intake won't be too high." Park Chaeyoung couldn't stand it—she really wanted to eat it but couldn't.

"Did you guys do this often before?"

"Occasionally! Most of the time we don't dare to eat it; we can only eat vegetarian food."

"I mean, you lick it, I lick it—isn't that unhygienic?"

Park Chaeyoung took off her shoe and threw it at her. This person's words were too infuriating. "Lick your grandpa, get lost!"

"Fair point. We're already in this state, neither of us should judge the other."

"Say that again!" The other shoe flew over. Was it really necessary to be so gross about eating a little snack?

"Give my shoe back. What are you doing? Licking my sole?"

Park Chaeyoung saw her pick up the shoe and thought she was giving it back, but she didn't expect her to just walk away with it.

"Park Chaeyoung, how thick is your face! Lick your sole? Didn't you see me throwing it in the trash?"

"What am I supposed to wear if you throw it away?"

"Who knows? You were the one who threw it, I'm just responsible for delivering it to the trash can. Watch my precision shot."

Two shoes flew into the trash can with a swoosh. Park Chaeyoung was stunned, and not just her, but Kim Ji-soo and the other three as well.

They didn't expect Xu Zhiyou to actually throw them. Recovering, Park Chaeyoung ran over and delivered a flying kick; she probably thought the move was quite cool.

Running with her legs spread, the height she jumped at the end wasn't even twenty centimeters; she was a living, breathing version of a running free-range chicken.

"Free-range chicken, jump a little higher!"

After being easily dodged, she knew she couldn't kick her, so she jumped onto her back. "You threw my shoes away, so you're responsible for carrying me back."

That pair of shoes was already broken anyway; throwing them away wasn't a big deal.

"Are you sure you don't want them? You can still wear them if you pick them up."

"I don't want them. They were already broken and rubbing against my feet. Carry me back, little pony."

"Do you believe I'll throw you into the Han River? There's a shoe store there; we can just go buy a pair."

"Oh! You wouldn't have thrown them away just because you saw they were broken and planned to buy me new ones, would you?"

It was actually possible. After a month of getting along, she had discovered that despite Xu Zhiyou's carefree appearance, she was very attentive and knew how to take care of people.

"I think you're really getting carried away; I just wanted to throw them, that's all."

"Would it kill you to say you care about me! Mua~" She planted a big kiss on her neck.

"It's over!"

"What's wrong?" Kim Ji-soo looked at her expression, which was like someone who had just lost their father.

"I'm not clean anymore; I've been molested!"

"Tch!" She couldn't be bothered to deal with this crazy woman.

After messing around, they arrived at the shoe store. They went in and picked through the items. She also chose two pairs; dancing was rough on shoes, so she bought a few extra to keep on hand.

"You guys should pick two pairs too. Look at the state your shoes are in—if you accidentally hurt your toes, you'll be crying about it later."

"I knew you must have felt bad for us wearing broken shoes and that's why you threw them away, but you wouldn't admit it." Hearing this, Park Chaeyoung confirmed her hypothesis.

"Stop being so conceited, hurry up and pick."

"Alright! Thanks, Hubby Zoe. Hehe~"

"Ugh! Get lost."

A few days after they returned from the Han River, the five of them were lying on the floor of the practice room when they suddenly received a notification from Yang Hyun-suk for her to go to his office.

"Why is the CEO looking for you?"

"I don't know, but I've been performing quite well lately, so it shouldn't be to criticize me."

Kim Ji-soo was completely speechless. You call your performance "good"? There's someone still in the hospital, right?

Besides, whenever the CEO called for a meeting, it was never anything good. The four of them had been called in plenty of times, and each time they were belittled as useless.

"Jisoo, your worry is a bit redundant. She's done so many outrageous things in the company, and the CEO hasn't blamed her, has he? It'll be fine."

Kim Jennie was the sensible one. Not to mention she had some background, and with her temper, it would be a miracle if she obediently took a scolding.

During this time, it wasn't like no one had tried to trip her up. For the ones who went too far, she would just raise her fists and fight, resorting directly to physical violence.

For those who didn't go too far, she would unleash a torrent of fluent "Zuan" insults that made the other person question their life. Her main principle was never to suffer a loss; if she accidentally did, she would beat the hell out of them.

"Jennie-oni, why does the way you say that make me feel like you've given up on treatment?"

"Oh, cut it out! Which of those people who provoked you didn't get a beating? The most important thing is that you're completely fine, so what am I worried about?"

"You make it sound like I'm so violent. My popularity is actually pretty good."

She did indeed have good popularity at YG. She never provoked anyone, and the ones she beat up were just clowns who liked to bully others.

She couldn't control them bullying others, but if they bullied her, she would teach them a lesson. One serious case had several ribs broken by her and was currently in the hospital receiving treatment.

Who told her to ruin her family photo? It was something she carried with her at all times. If not for Kim Ji-soo and the others holding her back, Xu Zhiyou might have really crippled her.

"Watch your attitude, don't just fly off the handle." Park Chaeyoung was genuinely worried that she would be fired one day; it was a miracle that she had stayed this long considering what she had done.
