28: Let the performance rub
Feeling an intense sense of oppression, it felt like their boss was nothing more than a younger brother in front of her parents. The two of them were usually terrified of their boss, so how could they not be nervous?
“Drink some water, you good-for-nothing!”
“It’s easy for you to say! If you’re so brave, come home with me next time and see what you’re like.”
“Australia is too far, I’m not going!”
“Hmph! Just say you’re scared.”
Park Chaeyoung glanced around her room, seeing only musical instruments.
“You have so many instruments, can you even play them?”
“Oh my god! I, Xu Zhiyou, actually have a day where I’m questioned.”
She pulled out her bedside table and took out the examination certificates inside for them to see. They didn’t believe her when she said it back in Peninsula, but now with so many certificates at home, they couldn’t refute her, right?
She even pulled out the entire drawer and dumped everything onto the bed. “Open your dog eyes wide and look carefully, I’m not to be trifled with.”
“Piano Grade 10, you have this talent too? It’s not fake, is it?”
Hearing Lisa say that, she almost coughed up blood and died. How much did she look down on her to ask such a question?
“Lalisa, what makes you think I’m so useless?”
“Your acting! You’re still second to last or first to last, I forgot.”
“Fourth to last. Did you forget the assessment from two days ago?”
“It’s not important, isn’t it still last place?”
“You only know about acting! I told you I’m a music student, can you stop fixating on acting or not?”
“Then show us your other talents! We’ve only seen your dancing. You can’t expect us to believe whatever you say you can do, right?”
“That makes so much sense!” She was speechless.
She silently put away her certificates and medals. These two idiots had been locked up in YG for training since they were eleven or twelve, barely attending school, so what would they know?
The feeling of failing to show off was too uncomfortable. As she was tidying up, Park Chaeyoung saw an Olympiad gold medal and snatched it.
“Oh my! You, with a head full of muscles, participated in the Olympiad?”
Hearing that, her hands paused while tidying up. It was so hurtful, wasn’t it?
“Give it back to me! I swear, if I ever talk about these things with you again, I’m a pig, damn it, illiterates!”
“Who are you calling illiterate? Just because you went to college doesn’t mean anything!”
“You’re nothing!” She snatched her medal back.
“You didn’t make it yourself, did you? You’re so nervous!”
Damn it, she went to the side, opened her computer, typed in her certificate number on a website, and threw it in their faces.
“See? This is me, and I have videos as proof. Can you believe it now?”
“You really participated in the Olympiad? And it’s a gold medal! Are you that smart?” Park Chaeyoung looked at the information on the official website, as if she was seeing her for the first time.
“Otherwise, what? Do you think I need to fake things to put on a show? You’re nothing!”
“We were locked up in the company for closed training since childhood. Besides vocal, rap, and dance, it was all various language classes. No one would tell us about these things, and we didn’t have access to them!”
“So, Piano Grade 10 is real too?”
“Yah! Lalisa, do you want me to play something for you?”
It was just that there was no piano in the room, otherwise she would have shocked both of them.
She opened the certificate verification website for her to see, “See?” Then she opened the video of her grading exam. “Open your dog eyes and look.”
Seeing their dumbfounded expressions, she felt incredibly satisfied. Why hadn’t she thought of this method back in Peninsula?
Damn it, if those two were here too, it would be even more satisfying to show off.
“No, if you’re so amazing, why have you been hiding it at the company?”
Park Chaeyoung truly didn’t understand. She knew that Piano Grade 10 wasn’t that easy, which was why she doubted her certificate.
She had never seen it in person, and combined with Xu Zhiyou’s usual performance, she mainly exuded an unreliable feeling.
Her dancing was great because she had practiced martial arts, and her love for fighting also confirmed that she was indeed well-developed physically.
But she was simple-minded and prone to making mistakes. From every angle, she didn’t look like a favored child of heaven. How could the truth be so magical? It was truly amazing!
“Oh! Right, you called my university a diploma mill. Open your dog eyes and see clearly, is it a diploma mill or not?”
She directly threw the detailed information of the Juilliard School in their faces. “This QS ranking is one of the most famous university rankings in the world. If you don’t understand, look it up.”
The two of them had no interest in listening to her rambling. They knew about Harvard University, and this ‘Harvard of music,’ ranked first in the world for performing arts, with an appallingly low acceptance rate and employment information.
Each of these points was so shocking. They used to think Berkeley was the best music school in the world, but they never expected there to be one even better than Berkeley.
“So, you really didn’t lie to us?”
“You’re still doubting me even now. Why don’t you just search for it? You don’t know how to use it, do you?”
It was actually possible. If she hadn’t been poor in her previous life and couldn’t afford paid web novels, often going to shady internet cafes to download pirated e-books, she wouldn’t have known how to use it either.
Trainees didn’t need PPTs or anything like that; everything was handwritten, so they didn’t use computers at all.
“Who are you looking down on? I grew up playing with computers, how could I not know how to use one?”
“You’re quite rich, then? So why didn’t you have money for barbecue?”
“That was an accident. After successfully competing among so many people, I got carried away and felt like the world was at my feet. In a moment of impulsiveness, I said I wouldn’t need them to support me anymore.”
“Me too. When I beat the people I competed with from Thailand, I also said that to my mother. Looking back now, I regret it so much.”
“Hey, hey, hey! Why are you two empathizing? Hurry up, don’t interrupt my showing off.”
“I’m not looking it up. No matter how good you are at music, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re last in acting, does it?”
“Park Chaeyoung, it’s fourth to last. I’ll remind you again, it’s fourth, fourth, did you hear clearly?”
“I heard clearly, two places from last!”
“Pfft ~” Spitting blood.
“Hahaha ~”
Too lazy to bother with those two idiots, she needed to go out and seek comfort. Damn that acting, she would definitely practice until she was the best when she got back this time.
It was disgraceful that she, Niu Kulü Xu Zhiyou, was being suppressed by acting.
Only after she left the room did the two of them start looking closely. How could they not be shocked? They were just pretending to be uninterested because of her smug demeanor.
As she closed the door, Park Chaeyoung slid over to the computer desk and started browsing her school. “This street hooligan is actually so amazing!”
Lisa also nodded in agreement. She couldn’t help but be impressed; the more she looked at the school, the more incredible it seemed, though there weren’t many personal performance videos of her.
But her information was there, things like “one of the most talented geniuses,” “fastest graduate in history,” and several other accolades.
“You know, we’re the same age, how is she so outstanding? I even said I’d teach her dance if she taught me vocal back then! Sigh ~”
“So, when she said she looked down on our company’s vocal teachers, it wasn’t arrogance, she really had the ability!”
A five-year bachelor's and master's program completed three years early, she certainly had the right to be proud. Lisa was quite impressed.
“Why didn’t she say anything back then? She made us look like such fools!”
“Uh! She did say something, but we didn’t believe her, and we even called her school a diploma mill, remember?”
“That’s still her fault. It’s all her fault anyway, who told her to always do such unreliable things?”
