41: Debut trailer response
Bae Joo-hyun saw her acting crazy again and didn't even spare her a glance. She had finally gotten some free time recently, and instead of resting, she was just messing around.
"No interest."
"Really, you know BLACKPINK, right? All five of their members have been announced."
"So what? Don't bother me!"
How many groups debut or disband every day? Besides, even if they debut, they'll be in competition with them, so why get so excited?
Kang Seul-gi knew her leader valued looks, a.k.a. a 'face connoisseur,' so she went straight for the big guns.
"Two members in their group have visuals comparable to yours, and one even surpasses you. Are you really not going to take a look?"
"Higher is higher! What's the... Wait, what did you just say?"
Who doesn't love looking at beautiful women? She was the top visual of the fourth generation, and someone with visuals even higher than hers piqued her curiosity.
"Here!" She handed her phone to Bae Joo-hyun.
"How are they? Two great beauties. Let's find a chance to get to know them. I absolutely love both of their visuals."
Kang Seul-gi was also a face connoisseur; she fell in love with Kim Ji-soo and Xu Zhiyou's faces at first sight.
Bae Joo-hyun ignored her and seriously looked through BLACKPINK's information. A self-producing girl group, the first in K-pop history. After reading it, her stress levels shot up.
Kang Seul-gi didn't notice Bae Joo-hyun's expression was off and kept showing off. Indeed, she wasn't called 'Bear Seulgi' for nothing.
"Especially this one called Zoe, the first foreign leader and producer in YG's history. I heard she handled all of their debut songs herself. Isn't that amazing?"
Looking at the incredibly boastful Kang Seul-gi, she couldn't quite understand why she was so excited, acting as if she were the leader, with such a cheap expression.
"Why are you so excited? What do they have to do with us after they debut?"
"I was... Oh, right! Why am I so excited?" Kang Seul-gi finally realized that BLACKPINK's debut would also be a fourth-generation group, making them competitors.
"Hahaha~" Kim Yerim looked at the dumbfounded Kang Seul-gi, who was acting like a complete idiot.
"Yeri, are you making fun of me?"
"No!"
Kim Yerim saw her death glare and quickly turned her head away. The best way to deal with someone brainless was not to engage.
Park Soo-young and Son Seung-wan, after reading BLACKPINK's information, had the same thought as their leader: they seemed destined to be crushed.
It wasn't surprising they thought this way; Bigbang's track record was there for all to see, having thoroughly crushed all their contemporaries, both male and female groups.
In terms of skill, a group of five people, four ace trainees, and one producer. Who could withstand such a luxurious lineup?
"TWICE and MAMAMOO are already difficult to deal with, and now another strong rival has appeared. Our lives won't be easy! Alas~"
Park Soo-young felt that being an idol involved competition during their trainee days, and even more so after debut. It was as if an invisible hand behind them was pushing them forward.
After a moment of reflection, she picked up her phone again. As idols, their mental fortitude was incredibly strong. After countless days and nights in the basement, if their mindset wasn't good, they wouldn't have debuted.
Son Seung-wan patted her shoulder. She was quite cheerful and didn't dwell on such thoughts. It wasn't necessary to reach the top; having a stage was enough.
"We're not bad either. Oh, never mind! You guys adjust yourselves." She lay back on the bed, contemplating life.
As the leader, Bae Joo-hyun should have adjusted their emotions and given them some encouragement, but she really couldn't make anything up. If they were truly a self-producing group, their ability to attract fans was undeniable.
As for whether they were promoting under the guise of being self-producing, she hadn't even considered it. YG wasn't stupid; they wouldn't do something so foolish.
"Haha~" Kang Seul-gi, with her extremely low threshold for laughter, couldn't hold it in when she saw her leader like this.
"Yah! Kang Seul-gi, this is all your fault, you 5G internet surfer! How can you still laugh?"
"I didn't! I just saw the great leader slacking off for the first time, and it felt a bit magical, that's all."
"Yah!" Bae Joo-hyun felt like strangling her. If it weren't for this bear, she might have already been asleep.
While they were discussing BLACKPINK, Lee Soo-man and Park Jin-young also had headaches. Yang Hyun-suk had gone a bit too far this time.
Kim Ji-soo and the other three were public trainees; their information had been available for a long time. They knew they were strong, but it was acceptable.
However, Xu Zhiyou was making her first appearance. As soon as she was announced, people went to investigate, and they couldn't find anything. They couldn't figure it out.
What were they thinking? Instead of being an artist, why come here to be an idol? The minds of geniuses were indeed unfathomable.
If Park Jin-young knew that Xu Zhiyou almost went to JYP, he wondered what he would think. Which company wouldn't want such an all-rounder who could sing, dance, and write?
At Pledis Entertainment, in SEVENTEEN's practice room, The8 also saw BLACKPINK's debut information, especially since the group's leader was his compatriot.
Following Victoria Song and Lu Yangyang, she was the third Chinese leader in K-pop. Being a member on the Peninsula was already impressive, let alone being a leader.
Kim Mingyu saw The8 holding his phone for a long time, which wasn't like him. "What are you looking at?"
"BLACKPINK, just checking them out."
Kim Mingyu also knew that YG's promotions made it hard not to know. Starting so hot, if their skills didn't match, they might be heavily criticized.
"Little Eight, as the main dancer, what do you think of their dance skills?"
"Very strong. If I didn't know they hadn't debuted yet, I would have thought they were a group that debuted years ago."
Kim Mingyu also agreed with The8's statement. He also had the ability to discern and recalled Bigbang's achievements back then.
"Do you think we'll be like those groups that debuted at the same time as Bigbang, and get crushed by BLACKPINK?"
"I don't know, it depends on their reception after debut. However, with Jisoo and Zoe, two high visuals, even if this group doesn't become hugely popular, they won't flop!"
"That's true." Some people are the center of attention just by standing there, and coincidentally, all five members of BLACKPINK are this type.
In TWICE's practice room at JYP Entertainment, Lim Nayeon looked at the information of their last member. Her elementary school classmate, Kim Ji-soo, had already been announced the day before yesterday.
Lim Nayeon wanted to understand the skills of Kim Ji-soo's teammates. She already knew Kim Jennie and the other two; they had fans even before debuting.
She was very curious about this last one, who was mysterious with no information at all. As soon as she was announced, Lim Nayeon started looking. She was from the same country as their maknae, and both were great beauties.
"Tzuyu, come here!"
Chou Tzuyu was a bit confused, wondering why she was being called. But since her unnie called her, she obediently walked over.
Lim Nayeon directly handed her the phone, "Does your country produce a lot of beautiful women? This could start a whole series!"
"Uh!"
With wide, rolling eyes, she looked at her: "How are they? Have you had any private contact?"
Chou Tzuyu pouted. They were together every day; didn't she know what she was doing? That was such a thoughtless question.
Besides, she was busy all the time; where would she meet people? And there were many trainees from her country here; she couldn't possibly get to know all of them.
"No, but Minghao Oppa should know them."
As a social butterfly, The8's friend circle, in Chou Tzuyu's eyes, was endless. If there was someone she wanted to know about, asking him was always the right choice.
