198: Scare Meat
Xu Zhiyou arrived at the office door, first opening a crack to peek inside. Seeing no one, she walked in boldly: "President Nim, what do you need me for?"
Yang Hyun-suk didn't respond to her, busy signing documents. Xu Zhiyou didn't mind that he ignored her.
She plopped down on the side sofa and started playing on her phone.
Yang Hyun-suk watched her play like that, then threw down his document and started to scold: "Zoe, playing games in the office, you..."
"I'm done." He was cut off before he could reach his climax, and the key was that Yang Hyun-suk couldn't find a reason to refute her: "I... Sigh~"
"Why the long face?" Xu Zhiyou recalled her recent behavior. "President Nim, I promise I haven't gotten into any fights lately."
"Who asked you about fighting?" He rolled his eyes and cut straight to the chase. Arguing with Xu Zhiyou was pointless; he could never win against her.
She was too good at deflecting; he couldn't stand it: "When will Jennie's solo songs be ready?"
"President Nim, you don't know, for the company's development, I..."
"Hey! Not again! When I ask you when the songs were written, just answer honestly. Where do you get all this nonsense?"
"Uh! The mood was just right; it would be a shame not to play along a bit. Hehe~~"
Yang Hyun-suk rolled his eyes: "What mood? When I ask you to do something serious, you act like this. I... Sigh~"
"I know, seeing me annoys you, right? Then it's simple, I'll disappear immediately." She turned and tried to run.
"Hey!" Yang Hyun-suk truly couldn't stand it anymore. "Zoe, can you have a little less trickery and a little more sincerity?"
Xu Zhiyou heard 'trickery' and immediately slammed on the brakes: "President Nim, if anyone's tricky, it's you."
"I remember when I first came, you played me like a monkey. What you're saying is a bit heartless! And..."
Listening to her chatter like a machine gun, he quickly raised a hand to interrupt her: "I say one thing, and you have ten waiting for me."
"Just tell me, is it true or not?"
"Uh!!!" Yang Hyun-suk rubbed his forehead. "Zoe! With so many artists in the company, you are the only one who leaves me utterly helpless."
"That's why you're the best President in the Peninsula. Look at S.M and JYP next door, also rated among the Peninsula's three major entertainment companies."
"Lee Soo-man runs a dictatorship, Park Jin-young is always thinking about singing and dancing, but you do your best. I truly admire..."
"Stop!" The more Yang Hyun-suk listened, the more pleased he became, his resentment dropping exponentially from her flattery. "Don't think that just because you say nice things, I won't hold it against you..."
"Why would a big President like you bicker with a small employee like me? Besides, I'm not a company producer, so it's not necessary, right?"
"Mm!" Yang Hyun-suk had just nodded when he reacted, glaring at her. "Hey! We're talking about you tricking me, why are you going off on such a tangent!"
"I didn't trick you. Jisoo's solo songs were taken from my album, and iKON's title track was purely an burst of inspiration."
"Writing five songs in three days, either they're filler or just messing around. We're all on the same team, when have I ever been that unreliable, right?"
Yang Hyun-suk had seen the songs and knew that writing five high-quality songs in one night was completely unrealistic, so this reason convinced him.
"Even if you didn't trick me, when I asked you if you had any stock, what did you say?"
"Not much, just enough for us. Is there a problem?"
"Uh!!!" Yang Hyun-suk was stunned. "Zoe, you're really something. The few brain cells you have are all used on me. Sigh~"
"Kamsahamnida, President Nim. Everyone says I have no brains, but you're the only one who acknowledges me. Wuwuwu~"
"Get out~"
"Alrighty!" She sprinted to the door, opening and closing it in one fluid motion, leaving Yang Hyun-suk dumbfounded.
A 'bang' sound brought him back to reality, realizing Xu Zhiyou had just left, making him see stars in anger.
"Aish, not again..."
Unfortunately, Xu Zhiyou couldn't hear him. The first thing she did after leaving the office was to divert Yang Hyun-suk's call.
"Chaeyoung! Let's see you act crazy with me, it won't scare you to death. Hehe~~"
"Huh! You want to die, looking so lewd?" Park Chaeyoung had been squatting in the corner waiting for her, and Xu Zhiyou came out of the office with a sly smile.
"Nothing!" She put away her phone. "Why are you here?"
"I was going to eavesdrop, but the soundproofing was too good, so I gave up." She pulled Xu Zhiyou aside. "What did President Nim say to you that made you so happy?"
"He wants to dig into my songs, what else could it be?" Thinking about transferring Yang Hyun-suk's call to Park Chaeyoung's phone, she needed to leave quickly.
"Chaeyoung, there's no point in me staying here. Tell Show Ge I'm going back to the dorm first."
"Why is it useless? Stay and guide me!"
"Guide what? There's still plenty of time, practice slowly." She shrugged her off and darted away. Park Chaeyoung was about to chase after her when her phone suddenly rang.
She paused for just a moment, and Xu Zhiyou was gone without a trace. Park Chaeyoung could only answer the phone, pulling it out to see it was her President.
She almost smashed the phone on the ground. She glanced around, then at her phone again, and reluctantly pressed 'answer'.
Before she could speak, Yang Hyun-suk's roar came through the phone: "Get back here immediately, there's something else I haven't told you... *beep beep beep*"
"Huh!!!" Park Chaeyoung glanced at the surveillance camera above her, thinking Yang Hyun-suk knew she had been peeking through the door crack.
"I knew I shouldn't have come, sigh!" She walked in with her head down. Yang Hyun-suk looked up and saw Park Chaeyoung: "Is something wrong?"
"Huh???" Park Chaeyoung scratched her head. Shouldn't she be the one saying that? It felt like they had it reversed.
"Rosie! Hey, why are you spacing out?"
"Aniyo." She pulled out her phone and opened her contacts. "President Nim, you told me to come in, I..."
"When did I call you?" Yang Hyun-suk took her phone; it was indeed his number. "Did you run into Zoe?"
"She told me to wait at the door, that's why I came over." Park Chaeyoung immediately sold Xu Zhiyou out. This blame was perfect for her to carry.
"Where is she?" Yang Hyun-suk's mind wasn't on her.
He just wanted to figure out why he had clearly called Xu Zhiyou's phone, but it had rung on Park Chaeyoung's phone.
"She said she was busy, so she left." Park Chaeyoung was a good girl in front of Yang Hyun-suk.
Yang Hyun-suk called Xu Zhiyou's phone in front of Park Chaeyoung, and Park Chaeyoung's phone rang.
Park Chaeyoung's mouth twitched. She had felt a little guilty earlier about blaming Xu Zhiyou, but that girl was truly heartless when it came to selling her out.
Yang Hyun-suk rubbed his forehead: "We both got tricked by her, sigh!" He waved her off, signaling her to leave first. Yang Hyun-suk was truly exhausted.
Seeing this, Park Chaeyoung grabbed her phone and ran. Lisa saw her return looking melancholic: "Chaeyoung, what's wrong?" She glanced behind her. "Where's Zoe?"
"She's not human, may lightning strike her dead, that damned person, I..." She spewed a bunch of encrypted language.
"Stop, stop, stop!" Kim Jennie interrupted her. "What exactly did Zoe do to make you so resentful?"
