30: Overeating
Jiang Ling saw her eldest daughter like this and knew it was hopeless. They could go negotiate, but if her eldest daughter refused, she could still bring her back, making it all for nothing.
"You, tell me, why did you call her stupid? Although I also think she's brainless, you can't say it in front of your sister!"
"Mom, what do you mean! Isn't it inherited from your IQ? Is it necessary to belittle your own child like that?" Xu Wen was very upset. Was she still their biological daughter? To talk about her like that.
"No, I didn't, Sister, believe me, even if I thought you were stupid, I wouldn't say it out loud."
Xu Zhiyou, that cursed woman, infuriated her with just one sentence. Her own little sister, don't be angry! She didn't mean it, Xu Wen kept hypnotizing herself, trying to calm down.
"Alas! It's ruined, wouldn't it have been better not to say anything?" Xu Lisong sighed, rubbing his forehead helplessly.
"This is what happens when you spend all day fishing with him!"
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Let her make more friends, learn more about social etiquette, why is she so lifeless?"
"That's true!"
She lacks the refinement of social etiquette, speaks without thinking, says whatever comes to mind, commonly known as having low emotional intelligence.
"How about we just let her go home! With her current state, do you believe she can survive in the entertainment industry?" Xu Lisong also began to seriously consider this issue.
The entertainment industry is truly a place where stepping on the low and praising the high is taken to the extreme. Their daughter's personality might be a problem!
"She only knows how to sing; what else can she do?" Jiang Ling thought about all the skills she had learned over the years, which were all entertainment-related.
"She's only eighteen, why not let her try college again?"
"That's a good idea, but what should she study?"
Before the two of them could finish discussing, Xu Zhiyou refused, saying, "No, I won't study, not even if you kill me. What's so good about school? You still end up working after graduating. I'm proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy, and painting; I'm very satisfied."
She would be crazy to suffer through that. At most, she'd be a street singer; why would she need such an impressive degree?
Her self-awareness was very clear; living this life well was enough, why ask for more?
"I think Mom and Dad are right; if you don't use your brain, it'll rust."
"Who says I don't use it? I write songs and sing; don't these require a brain?"
Seeing her so resistant, the three of them didn't push her further. They decided to let her try it out first; when she got tired of it and lost interest, perhaps she wouldn't even need them to tell her, she would go take the exam herself.
After finishing dinner and clearing the dishes, she remembered her older sister's friend. She decided to ask about it first, just in case she got fired by YG, she could go there.
Who could predict her temper? It was always better to ask first, but she was met with a cold shoulder and was kicked out of the house after only a few words.
If she hadn't brought friends home and just stayed in, that would have been fine. Her two friends were clearly uncomfortable, and she hadn't even fulfilled her promise to show them around, just kept nagging her endlessly.
Walking down the street, Xu Zhiyou looked a bit down. "Sigh! You tell me, would it kill them to tell me which company it is? That way, if the CEO kicks me out, I can just pack my bags and move in, how much easier would that be!"
"Are you really planning to leave YG? Aren't you debuting with us? Didn't the CEO want you to be the leader?" Park Chaeyoung didn't understand her thinking.
"We're not on the same path, it's hard to mesh. Maybe the CEO knows that himself, which is why he never arranged for me to practice with you all."
"What's the difference? It's all singing!" Park Chaeyoung was still relatively naive now; she wouldn't ask such questions once she debuted and started interacting with all sorts of people.
"Girl groups focus more on stage performance and audience interaction, while I specialize in classical music."
"Is there a difference? It's still singing!"
"The difference is that the target audience is different, and the performance styles are also vastly different. This would take a lot to explain; you can just search it up when you have time."
Lisa took out her phone after hearing this and then remembered her phone bill was overdue. What a disaster; ever since she met Xu Zhiyou, she had also caught the habit of being careless.
She walked over, took her phone, opened the browser directly, and started searching. The more she scrolled, the more introverted she became, reading about the short lifespan of pop music, the youth-dependent nature of the industry, and so on.
Xu Zhiyou leaned over to glance. "Why are you looking at this? These comments are just nonsense from people who don't know much. Why do two genres have to be compared? Sick!"
"This music hierarchy really does exist! You're at the top of the food chain from the get-go, I'm so envious!"
"Oh, you believe my music is really strong now?"
Lisa looked at her smug expression; if she wasn't so smug, she would be very willing to praise her a few times.
"You wouldn't look down on us, would you! After all, you belong to the classical music realm, you're an artist."
"Exactly, exactly, I'm also curious, is it because you look down on us that you can't even be bothered to show off your skills?"
"Are you two crazy? Don't you know what state I'm in? Have you forgotten that my performance was last?"
Lisa thought about her experiences during this time. "That's true, busy with homework all day, no time to show off talents!"
Park Chaeyoung asked with a puzzled expression, "How did you do that?"
"Just so-so. When I was eight, I heard music in a mall and wrote it on the spot. Do you want me to sing it for you?"
"No, no, no! I mean, you're so talented in music and even in studies, how did you manage to perform so poorly?"
"Aish! Park Chaeyoung~"
"Hahaha~" Lisa didn't expect Park Chaeyoung to be so surprising, and she couldn't hold back her laughter.
"Haha! I won't tease you anymore. Sing now, and I'll give you feedback."
"Sing your great-uncle, get lost! I'm not in the mood."
"I really made a mistake, look how good my attitude is in admitting it!" She blinked her sparkling, innocent eyes, exuding a simple, goofy charm.
She slapped her face away and walked into the roast duck restaurant. How could they come to BJ and not eat roast duck? The two of them hadn't eaten much lunch, just being shy.
"I'll take you to try the signature roast duck, and then we'll have a few bowls of stir-fried liver before heading back to Peninsula."
"I know roast duck, but what is stir-fried liver?" Park Chaeyoung had visited China as a child and had eaten roast duck before, falling in love with it on the first try.
Next, Xu Zhiyou took them on a food tour, driving them around the nearby food cities since she had a driver's license.
"No! I can't eat anymore, if I do, I'll definitely be punished tomorrow."
"Put away those resentful little eyes of yours, did I make you eat?"
"You brought us here, who else should we blame if not you?"
"Park Chaeyoung, Park Chaeyoung, your thought process is truly bizarre. Do you believe I'll hit you until you throw it up!"
She had told them to go explore other places, but the two of them kept running to the food city, and she couldn't stop them.
Now that they were stuffed, they blamed her. She really wanted to give each of them a slap and send them back.
"You have that ability? It saves me from inducing vomiting, come on, but will it hurt?"
"I can't afford to offend you two ancestors, goodbye!" It was truly speechless. Her older sister kept calling her stupid, but compared to these two, she was already quite good.
Before leaving, she still couldn't give up. She ran to their workplace to ask what her friend's company was called, so it would be convenient for her to move in later.
Her behavior made Park Chaeyoung and Lisa extremely disdainful, but the result was very touching: she got a beating, was bruised and swollen, which delighted the two of them immensely.
