168: A day at work

Xu Zhiyou flicked her forehead. "With your almost negligible guts, stop spouting such big words."

"Yah! You dared to flick me."

Xu Zhiyou answered her question with action, "Do you think I dare?"

"Yah!"

Xu Zhiyou ran off in a flash, making Kim Jennie chase after her furiously, while Kim Ji-soo, holding the two still watching the show, followed suit.

The next day, as expected, Xu Zhiyou overslept again. Kim Jennie couldn't wake her, so she directly dragged her, bed and all, off the bed.

Xu Zhiyou felt a sharp poke. "Ow! Dumpling Ni, can't you be gentler?"

"The assessment starts at nine, and it's already eight. Get up quickly. Can't you be more serious? Today is your first day on the job."

"I'm getting up! I'm getting up!"

"Hurry up." After saying that, she went to wash her face and brush her teeth. Xu Zhiyou heard it was only eight o'clock and climbed back into bed to continue sleeping.

Kim Jennie also slept until eight in the morning, feeling refreshed and looking at her soft, glowing face in the mirror.

"Sure enough, sleep is the best beauty treatment. Not bad, not bad!" She hummed a little tune while brushing her teeth. After washing up, she didn't see Xu Zhiyou.

Returning to the room, she saw her lying back down. She pulled back the covers, dragged her to the living room, and sprayed toner on her face.

"I shouldn't have trusted you. Are you waking up or not?"

"I'm awake! I'm awake!"

Dragging her up from the floor, "Go wash up quickly."

Xu Zhiyou rubbed her sleepy eyes and headed towards the room. Kim Jennie massaged her forehead and pushed her into the bathroom.

"Hold this firmly, don't grab the wrong toothbrush." She placed her toothbrush in her hand, afraid she might be too bleary-eyed to pick the wrong one, as it wasn't the first time it had happened.

"I'm really awake."

"Hehe!"

After finishing her skincare and makeup, it was 8:40. She grabbed the breakfast sent by her assistant and ate it on the way.

In the company's practice room, rows of trainees stood waiting. After each assessment, someone would leave.

The law of the jungle was fully demonstrated among the trainees; those with poor psychological resilience simply couldn't handle it.

Xu Zhiyou arrived at the practice room door right on time. When she opened the door, everyone looked over. The trainees, seeing Xu Zhiyou and Kim Jennie, bowed in greeting.

Xu Zhiyou felt a toothache. Hundreds of people bowing to her gave her a strange sense of being sent off, which was very unsettling.

Kim Jennie felt her tense body and almost couldn't hold back a laugh. Even the fearless Xu Zhiyou had such moments; it was truly rare.

But now was not the time to be spaced out. She poked her lower back, and Xu Zhiyou also came back to her senses.

"Hello everyone, please sit down. For a long time to come, I will be your assessor. The time is quite long, so there's no need for everyone to stand. Please sit!"

"Yes! Senior."

Xu Zhiyou wondered, "Don't just say it! I don't eat people. Relax a bit, don't make the atmosphere so oppressive."

The trainees looked at each other, but no one sat down. They had never heard of sitting during an assessment, so no one dared to move.

The Peninsula's senior-junior system was clearly manifested at this moment. If this were in China, the more outgoing ones would even joke with her.

"I can't control what others do, but while I am your assessor, you will do as I tell you, OK?"

"Yes!"

Xu Zhiyou rubbed her forehead, "Sit down, all of you. I won't say it a second time."

Hearing her words, the trainees gradually began to sit cross-legged. Xu Zhiyou pulled Kim Jennie to the prepared seats.

There were also three women and three men assessing with her, professional teachers specializing in rap, dance, vocal, acting, variety shows, and posture.

After greeting them, Xu Zhiyou sat down. She was considered the superior of these six people; an assessor was that powerful.

A single word could decide a trainee's fate. Usually, countless people vied for the position, as it could bring in a lot of money if managed well.

After sitting down, she adjusted her microphone. "Before we start, let me say a few words. Don't be nervous, because I'm not a good person. Ah, ptooey, I said it wrong."

"Pfft~"

Xu Zhiyou had excellent hearing and thought to herself that being a clown really worked.

"Everyone here, entering YG proves that you have extraordinary talent in a certain field. Nervousness, anxiety, self-doubt, these are actually completely unnecessary;

Look at it from another angle, what if you get eliminated? If you're eliminated this year, you can participate in YG's trainee selection next year;

The main point is to freeload on training. By the time you've learned all the skills and reached a certain age, even if debuting is hopeless, you can go find a small company…"

"Cough cough~~"

"Dumpling Ni, what's wrong? Is your throat uncomfortable?"

"My ancestor! You're off-topic."

The trainees all lowered their heads, but their trembling shoulders showed they were trying to hold back laughter.

"Alright, that's enough rambling. Now, let's officially begin the assessment."

Because of Xu Zhiyou's previous remarks, the atmosphere was much better, no longer as oppressive as before, but the inevitable mistakes still occurred.

"Hanna! I don't know why you're nervous. In one song, you forgot lyrics, had shaky vocals, went off-key…"

The young girl's face grew paler and paler as she listened. Xu Zhiyou didn't continue, "Hanna! You're only fourteen, you need to be confident, OK?"

"Zoe Senior, can you give me another chance? I'll work very hard."

"Don't cry! Aren't there still several items to test? Life is already hard enough, if you can blame others, don't blame yourself;

Just think of it as me being idle and nitpicking you, try to prove me wrong in the next few items. Doesn't thinking that way make you feel much better?"

"Pfft!" She was very sad, but Xu Zhiyou's words made her laugh. She wiped her tears and looked at her, sincerely saying, "Kamsahamnida, Senior! I will work hard."

"Break time is over. Take a good rest and then continue the test."

"Yes! Kamsahamnida, Zoe Senior."

"No problem! Fighting."

The trainees waiting in line for their assessment all thought they were definitely going to get scolded, but to their surprise, not only were they not scolded, but they were even comforted.

This incident elevated Xu Zhiyou's image even more in their minds, adding the label of a caring older sister to her already existing one as a talented woman.

When she walked out of the practice room, Kim Jennie followed her. She wasn't familiar with these six teachers either and couldn't find much to talk about.

Catching up to her, Kim Jennie pouted, "Zoe, you really do have a prejudice against us. You're so gentle with the trainees, but with us, it's all kinds of sarcasm."

"Are you crazy? Have I ever mocked you?"

"You said Chaeyoung's limbs had a mind of their own and fought each other during key moves, you said I was 'tea-like' and looked like a dead white lotus, you said Jisoo…"

"Can they compare to you four? No matter what I say, you all won't get angry. Am I stupid or foolish to offend people?"

"Then didn't your initial 'run away' speech offend the company?"

"You don't understand that, do you? How many trainees come and go at the company every year? It's highly likely that not a single one of these people today will debut."

"Nonsense! Do you take me for a fool?"
