129: Chapter 129 Spare No Effort
Han Qing closed her eyes. "I, Han Qing, never do things by halves."
"Fine, I'll accompany you so you don't have to do it by halves."
The corners of Han Qing's mouth curled slightly, but she didn't speak.
But she was silently counting in her heart:
Tonight was the third day of her ovulation period, the optimal time.
It must succeed.
It must.
...
The next day, Han Qing became a changed person.
Perhaps the intimacy of the past few nights had completely broken down her psychological defenses.
Perhaps the thought that she "must succeed" gave her the courage of a person with nothing left to lose.
She no longer dodged him.
During breakfast, she sat beside Qin Lin with poise, picking up food for him and handing him milk.
Her movements were as natural as if they had been a married couple for decades.
Su Yuran saw this, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.
Lin Wanwan smiled gently and said nothing.
Xu Xue didn't notice these details.
Li Ying glanced at Han Qing, her eyes carrying a hint of knowing amusement.
She had already guessed what would happen.
Only Han Yurou ate with her head down, not saying a word.
"Yu Rou, why aren't you talking today?" Su Yuling asked with concern.
"It's nothing."
Han Yurou didn't even look up. "Sleepy."
"Didn't sleep well last night?"
"Yeah, a bit." Han Yurou kept her head down as she shoveled rice. "Maybe it's because I had a nightmare last night."
"What kind of nightmare?"
"I don't remember, I just remember it felt very uncomfortable."
Su Yuling patted her shoulder.
"It's okay, it's just a nightmare. I have them sometimes too. You'll feel better once you're fully awake."
Han Yurou smiled but didn't speak.
Would she really feel better once she was awake?
But she was awake, and those images were still there.
She subconsciously looked toward the other end of the dining table.
Her mother was chatting with Li Ying, discussing some clothing styles, smiling quite happily.
Qin Lin sat at the head of the table, occasionally interjecting a few words, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over her mother.
That kind of look...
Han Yurou hadn't noticed it before.
But now, she noticed.
It was a... gentle gaze, one filled with a certain emotion.
It was different from the way he looked at her.
She lowered her head and shoveled rice vigorously.
"Yu Rou, eat slower," Lin Wanwan said worriedly, "don't choke."
"Okay."
She responded, but ate even faster.
Han Qing glanced at her daughter, feeling a bit guilty in her heart.
She had been running out every night these past few days, and she had indeed neglected Yu Rou.
She would have to find some time to spend with her later.
After the meal, Han Yurou went to the ecological box to take care of the plants.
Watering, loosening the soil, and picking ripe strawberries.
These tasks allowed her to temporarily forget those thoughts.
"Yu Rou, what's wrong with you today?" Su Yuling ran over.
"I'll help you!"
"Okay."
The two worked together. Su Yuling chattered away while Han Yurou occasionally responded.
A few more strawberries had turned red, each one plump and emitting a sweet fragrance.
"This one is so red!"
Su Yuling pointed at the largest one.
"It's ready to be picked!"
"Yeah, pick it."
"Let's save it for Brother Lin?" Su Yuling said with a giggle.
"He loves strawberries the most."
Han Yurou's movements paused for a moment.
"Okay, save it for him."
After picking the strawberries, she picked out the largest and reddest ones and placed them in a small basket.
Han Qing was sitting in the living room.
She originally wanted to go see her daughter.
But Qin Lin was in the Drivers Cabin. She hesitated for a moment and then went to the Drivers Cabin.
Just for a little while.
She would spend some time with Qin Lin and then go spend time with Yu Rou.
She comforted herself this way.
In the Drivers Cabin, Qin Lin was looking at a map.
Han Qing pushed the door open and entered. He looked back, and his eyes instantly glazed over.
She had specifically changed her clothes.
A black spaghetti-strap bodycon dress with a very low neckline, revealing delicate collarbones and a deep cleavage.
The dress tightly hugged her body, outlining breathtaking curves—a slender waist, rounded hips, and a hemline that barely covered the tops of her thighs.
On her feet were a pair of black stiletto heels. Her entire aura had instantly shifted from a 'professional doctor' to a 'femme fatale'.
"You..."
Qin Lin's throat felt dry.
"What are you doing?"
Han Qing closed the door and leaned against it, a hint of a smile on her lips.
"I came to find you. Is there a problem?"
"No, no problem..."
Qin Lin's gaze moved away from her, but he couldn't help but look back.
"It's just... this outfit..."
"Doesn't look good?"
Han Qing deliberately did a turn, her skirt fluttering up to reveal a section of snowy-white thigh.
"It looks good..."
Qin Lin's breathing grew heavy.
"It looks too damn good..."
Han Qing laughed.
She walked up to him, placed her hands on the back of his chair, and looked down at him.
"Then what are you waiting for?"
Qin Lin pulled her into his arms with a sudden motion.
"Aunt Qing," his voice was low and raspy.
"You're playing with fire."
"Mhm."
Han Qing hooked her arms around his neck.
"I just happen to like playing with fire."
The door to the Drivers Cabin was locked from the inside.
Han Qing was truly sparing no effort in her quest to get pregnant.
...
In the ecological box, Han Yurou was absentmindedly picking strawberries.
One, two, three...
She had picked a full small basket, all of them the largest and reddest ones.
Usually, she would save these strawberries and give them to Brother Lin when he passed by.
Sometimes he would pat her head and say thank you, and sometimes he would eat one on the spot and praise her for growing them so well.
Those moments were the happiest times of her day.
But now...
She thought of the scene she had witnessed last night, the way her mother looked coming out of Qin Lin's room.
She thought of her mother's sexy black dress today.
She thought of the eager look in her mother's eyes when she followed Qin Lin into the Drivers Cabin.
Her heart felt as if it were blocked by something, so stifled she could hardly breathe.
She looked at the bright red strawberries in the basket and suddenly felt they were an eyesore.
Why?
Why did her mother have to be like this?
Didn't she tell her to keep her distance from Qin Lin?
Then what about her mother herself?
She could go, she could wear so little, she could cling to Brother Lin all day.
Then what was she supposed to be?
Han Yurou blinked hard, suppressing the sourness in her eyes.
She took a deep breath and picked up the strawberries.
Regardless, the strawberries still had to be delivered.
This was her habit, and also her... obsession.
She walked toward the Drivers Cabin.
The corridor was short; she reached it in just a few steps.
The door was closed.
She raised her hand to knock, but suddenly heard some strange sounds coming from inside.
They were very light and low, but she heard them clearly.
That was her mother's...
Han Yurou's hand froze in mid-air.
She stood there, motionless.
The strawberry basket in her hand suddenly felt very, very heavy.
Inside the door, the sounds continued.
It was her mother's voice, a voice she had never heard before, filled with a kind of panting and suppression.
There was also Brother Lin's deep voice, saying things she couldn't understand.
Han Yurou's face turned red instantly, then turned pale.
She finally knew what those sounds were.
She finally understood what her mother was doing every night.
She finally knew why her mother wanted to wear that black dress and why she followed Qin Lin into the Drivers Cabin.
Tears welled up without warning.
She bit her lip hard, not allowing herself to make a sound.
Then she turned and ran away quickly.
Strawberries scattered across the floor, the bright red fruits rolling everywhere like a shattered heart across the ground.
