213: Chapter 213 Eating melons
Qin Lin followed Li Ran into the room.
He looked around, getting a clearer view of the situation inside.
The room was large, seemingly converted into a communal living space with several beds lined up side by side.
Besides a guilty-looking Su Zhenyun and an angry Li Ran, there were five other young women.
One, in her early thirties with a gentle appearance, was likely Li Ran's younger sister.
The other four were even younger, in their twenties, and all quite beautiful.
Qin Lin silently counted; including Su Zhenyun and Li Ran, there were exactly seven people.
One man and six women—this arrangement... He couldn't help but give a mental thumbs-up to this father-in-law he had never met before.
From the north to the south, from those in their twenties to those in their early thirties, he had a full variety. One had to respect his taste and methods.
He himself only had such a setup because of the apocalypse, the System, and the RV.
But this man had managed it all before the apocalypse even began.
He had to admit, this father-in-law was truly something else.
Li Ran sat down on the sofa, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down.
She looked at Qin Lin with a complex expression.
"Qin Lin, Yuran and Yuling... are they really still alive?"
"Really," Qin Lin nodded.
"They are right outside in the RV. They're healthy, and Yuling is doing well too."
Li Ran's tears welled up again.
She covered her mouth, sobbing too hard to speak.
Su Zhenyun listened from the side, his eyes also reddening.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but seeing Li Ran's expression, he swallowed his words back down.
The woman in her early thirties walked over and supported Li Ran's shoulder.
"Sister, don't cry. The fact that Yuran and her sister are alive is a good thing."
Li Ran wiped her tears and nodded.
"Right, it's a good thing. I shouldn't cry."
She took a few deep breaths, struggling to regain her composure.
Qin Lin felt a bit emotional watching this scene.
He remembered the first time he met Li Ran. Back then, he was just an ordinary university student dating Su Yuran.
Li Ran had sought him out specifically, looked him up and down, and then said coldly:
"You aren't good enough for my daughter."
He still remembered the disgust and contempt in her eyes from that day.
But what about now?
The apocalypse had come, and all those notions of social status and class differences were gone.
Now when she looked at him, there was only gratitude in her eyes.
"Qin Lin," Li Ran spoke.
"Could you... take us to see Yuran and Yuling?"
Qin Lin nodded.
"Of course, but..."
He glanced at Su Zhenyun and the other women.
"Are you sure you want to go right now?"
Li Ran followed his gaze, and her expression darkened again.
She was silent for a few seconds before saying, "How about you go back first? Tell Yuran and Yuling that we're here, and then bring them over."
Qin Lin understood her meaning.
She wanted to settle things on this end before letting her daughters come over.
He nodded.
"Alright, then I'll head back first."
As he turned to leave, Li Ran called out to him again.
"Qin Lin."
He turned back.
"Auntie, is there something else?"
Li Ran looked at him, hesitating for a moment.
"Thank you. Thank you for saving them."
Qin Lin shook his head.
"It's only right."
"By the way, take this. Contact me directly when you're ready."
Qin Lin left a communicator with her.
This was something he always carried whenever he left the RV.
After leaving the room, he retraced his steps.
When he stepped out of the building, the 82-degree heat and the darkness were still there, but the protective suit blocked most of the heat.
He walked quickly back to the RV, opened the door, and stepped inside.
Everyone was in the living room.
Su Yuran was the first to stand up.
"How was it? Did you find them?"
Qin Lin looked at her, thinking about how to break the news.
"I found them."
Su Yuran's eyes lit up.
"Where are they?"
Qin Lin took a deep breath.
"Your parents are inside."
The living room fell silent instantly.
Su Yuran was stunned.
Su Yuling was also stunned.
Everyone was stunned.
Han Yurou's mouth hung open.
"Sister Yuran's parents?"
Qin Lin nodded.
"Yeah, they're in the building just ahead."
Su Yuran's tears burst forth instantly.
"They... they're still alive..."
She covered her mouth, sobbing too hard to speak.
Su Yuling also stood up and walked over to Qin Lin.
"Brother Lin, what you're saying... is it true?"
Her voice was trembling.
Qin Lin took her hand.
"It's true. Your mom told me herself."
Su Yuling's tears also began to fall.
She turned and hugged her sister; the two of them held each other and wept.
Li Ying walked over and patted Qin Lin on the shoulder.
"Your in-laws are both there? Then why didn't you bring them back with you?"
Qin Lin gave a bitter smile.
"It's a bit complicated."
"How so?"
Qin Lin looked at the Su sisters, then at the others, and hesitated.
"You all... should prepare yourselves psychologically."
Su Yuran wiped away her tears.
"What do you mean?"
Qin Lin sighed.
"Your dad... is there too, and..."
He didn't know how to say it.
Should he say, "Your dad is keeping several young mistresses"?
How could he say that in front of the man's daughters?
Seeing Qin Lin's hesitant manner, Su Yuran seemed to understand something.
She was silent for a few seconds before asking, "Is my dad... with other women?"
Qin Lin nodded.
Su Yuran closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"How many?"
Qin Lin hesitated for a moment.
"Five."
The living room fell silent once again.
Su Yuran opened her eyes and gave a bitter laugh.
"Five? He really is something."
Su Yuling stood to the side without speaking, but a flash of coldness appeared in her eyes.
It was because her father had gone off to find those women that she had nearly died at home.
Luckily, Brother Lin had brought her sister to save her.
Han Yurou asked in a small voice, "Then Sister Yuran's mother..."
"Your mom... is currently arguing with your dad."
Everyone looked at each other.
Li Ying leaned back on the sofa and laughed.
"Your father Su Zhenyun is quite interesting. He even tried to keep me as a mistress once, but I didn't agree."
"This really is a family reunion with a side of drama."
She loved watching scenes like this; life on the RV was simply too boring.
Su Yuran shot her a glare.
Li Ying shrugged and stopped talking.
"Your mom wants you to wait a bit before going over. She... wants to handle things on that side first."
Su Yuran nodded.
"Alright, then we'll wait."
She pulled her sister down to sit on the sofa.
The two of them held hands and waited quietly.
Everyone else in the living room also quieted down; no one spoke.
The atmosphere was somewhat oppressive.
Qin Lin sat down next to Su Yuran and took her hand.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine."
Su Yuran leaned her head on his shoulder.
"I know. It's just..."
She didn't finish, but Qin Lin understood.
She was worried about her mother, worried about her father, and worried about what kind of scene it would be when the whole family finally met.
After about half an hour, Qin Lin's communicator rang.
It was Li Ran's voice.
"Qin Lin, you guys can come over now."
Qin Lin stood up.
"Let's go."
Su Yuran and Su Yuling stood up and followed Qin Lin out of the RV.
The three of them put on their protective suits and walked quickly toward the building.
Li Ying also wanted to go watch the drama, but Qin Lin stopped her.
"I want to see the excitement too!"
"Come to my room tonight, and I'll tell you all about it personally."
"Oh, Brother Qin Lin is starting to flirt with me. Alright then, see you tonight."
