272: Chapter 272 The Passengers After Getting Off the Train

Qin Lin stood where he was, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Su Yuling walked over and took Qin Lin's hand. "Dad, let's go over there and take a look."

Qin Lin nodded and followed her toward the distant stream.

On the grass, the women had scattered; some were painting, some were picking flowers, some were playing in the water by the stream, and others were lying on the grass basking in the sun.

The sunlight was full of Warmth, a breeze gently blew, and there was the sound of birds and the fragrance of flowers.

Here, there was no apocalypse, no disaster, and no fear.

There was only peace and beauty.

Qin Lin stood by the small stream, watching all of this, and an indescribable feeling welled up in his heart.

The apocalypse was still continuing, but in this space, he had found a temporary safe haven.

Su Yuling squatted by the stream, cupped some water in her hands, and just as she was about to drink, Qin Lin stopped her.

"Wait!"

Su Yuling looked at Qin Lin with confused eyes, still cupping the water in her hands.

"Let me check if it's drinkable."

Qin Lin asked the System to test the water quality.

Soon, the test was complete:

[Water Quality Test: No hazards, drinkable]

Qin Lin smiled. "You can drink it."

Su Yuling lowered her head and took a sip.

"Dad, the water is sweet," she said.

Qin Lin squatted down and also cupped some water to take a sip.

It was clear and sweet; it was indeed sweet.

He looked up at the distant mountains, the trees on the mountains, and the birds in the trees.

"System, are there any humans in this space?"

[Testing...]

[Test complete: No other human activity]

The tension in Qin Lin's heart finally relaxed a little.

"Dad," Su Yuling called him.

"Hm?"

"Can we stay here for a while?"

Qin Lin thought for a moment. "Okay."

Su Yuling smiled and leaned on his shoulder.

The sunlight shone on the two of them, their shadows reflected on the water, swaying gently with the ripples.

However, Qin Lin always felt a sense of guilt in his heart.

It was just that Su Yuling was too immersed in the situation, making him feel as if it were real.

If it were real, he would truly be a heinous sinner.

But fortunately, it wasn't real.

Su Yuling had just entered some kind of crazy, abnormal state.

In the evening, as the sun set, the horizon was dyed a layer of orange-red.

Qin Lin sat on the grass, watching the sun slowly go down.

He hadn't seen a sunset in a long time.

After the apocalypse, the sky on Earth was either in eternal night, covered by ice and snow, or grey with volcanic ash.

But here, there was sunrise, sunset, daytime, and nighttime; everything was normal.

Su Yuling lay on the grass beside him, resting her head on his lap, looking at the sky.

"Dad, the sky here is so beautiful," she said.

Qin Lin looked down at her. "Do you like it here?"

Su Yuling nodded. "I like it."

She paused, then added, "But it's not as good as on the RV."

Qin Lin was taken aback. "Why?"

Su Yuling looked at him, her eyes serious. "Because the RV is home."

Qin Lin smiled and reached out to touch her head.

Li Ran walked over and sat down next to Qin Lin.

She was wearing a white dress, her hair let down, and there was a faint blush on her face, making her look several years younger than usual.

"So you're here."

Su Yuling sat up and took Li Ran's hand. "Mom, you sit too."

Li Ran sat down next to her, looking at the distant sunset.

"It's beautiful," she said softly.

Qin Lin reached out and put his arm around her shoulder.

Li Ran leaned over and rested her head on his shoulder.

Su Yuling leaned on Li Ran's shoulder, and the three of them sat in a row, watching the sunset.

In the distance, Su Yuran was sitting under a tree with a book in her hand, but she wasn't reading it.

She watched the direction of the three of them, the corners of her mouth slightly raised.

Han Qing walked over and sat down next to her.

"What are you looking at?" Han Qing asked.

Su Yuran regained her focus. "Nothing."

Han Qing looked at Qin Lin, Li Ran, and Su Yuling in the distance and smiled. "The three of them are inseparable now."

Su Yuran nodded. "Yeah."

Han Qing looked at her. "Why don't you go over?"

Su Yuran thought for a moment. "I can go anytime, but there's no need."

Han Qing was silent for a moment, then said, "You're still the most clear-headed one."

Su Yuran smiled and didn't say anything more.

The two sat quietly for a while, watching the sunset slowly go down.

On the other side, Li Ying and Xu Xue were sitting by the stream.

Xu Xue was painting, painting the distant mountains and trees.

Li Ying was watching from the side, occasionally giving pointers.

"Make the color a bit deeper here."

"Add a few more strokes there."

Xu Xue was flustered by her instructions. "Sister Ying, can you be quiet for a while?"

Li Ying smiled. "I can't, I can't sit still."

Xu Xue shook her head helplessly and continued painting.

Li Ying lay on the grass, looking at the sky, and suddenly said, "Xu Xue, what do you think we should do in the future?"

Xu Xue was taken aback. "What do you mean, what should we do?"

"I mean... after the apocalypse ends, if the apocalypse ends one day, where will we go?"

Xu Xue thought for a moment. "I don't know. Maybe... find a place to settle down."

Li Ying smiled. "I think this place is pretty good. There are mountains, water, flowers, and grass, and no disasters."

Xu Xue glanced at her. "But this isn't the real world; it's just a special space."

Li Ying was silent for a while, then said, "What's so good about the real world? Outside, it's the apocalypse, ice, snow, and darkness. At least here, we can see the sun."

Xu Xue didn't speak and continued painting.

The sisters Zhou Lingling and Zhou Yueyue were picking flowers in the flower bushes, each holding a large bouquet in their hands.

"Sister, these flowers smell so good," Zhou Yueyue said.

Zhou Lingling nodded. "Yeah, let's take them back and put them in the room."

After picking the flowers, the two walked toward the RV.

Lin Wanwan and Wang Xiulan were sitting on the grass beside the RV, Lin Wanwan was knitting a sweater, and Wang Xiulan was watching from the side.

"Wanwan, how long have you been knitting this sweater?" Wang Xiulan asked.

Lin Wanwan thought for a moment. "Almost a month."

"Still not finished?"

"Almost, just two sleeves left."

Wang Xiulan smiled. "You are really slow."

Lin Wanwan blushed. "It's my first time knitting; it's not bad that I can knit it like this."

Wang Xiulan nodded. "That's true."

The two chatted, watching the scenery in the distance, feeling very comfortable.

Han Yurou was running around on the grass, chasing butterflies.

"Mom! Mom! Look, there's a butterfly!" she shouted.

Han Qing sat under a tree, watching her daughter, and smiled.

"Be careful, don't fall."

Han Yurou ran off chasing the butterfly, her laughter crisp and clear.

Xia Qiuyan was sitting on top of the RV alone, watching the sunset.

She was the tallest in the whole vehicle, with the longest legs, and was sitting cross-legged at the moment, like a sculpture.

No one knew what she was thinking.

Lin Fang and Lin Xiaoyue, the sister-in-law duo, were washing their feet by the stream. The water was very cold, and Lin Fang's toes were frozen red.

"Sister-in-law, your feet are really small," Lin Xiaoyue said.

Lin Fang blushed. "Your feet aren't big either."

Lin Xiaoyue smiled and stretched her feet next to Lin Fang's to compare.

"About the same size."

After washing their feet, the two sat on the rocks by the stream, watching the water flow.

"Sister-in-law, do you like it here?" Lin Xiaoyue asked.

Lin Fang thought for a moment. "I do."

Night slowly fell, the orange-red on the horizon turned into deep blue, and the stars lit up one by one.

Qin Lin looked up at the starry sky.

He hadn't seen stars in a long time.

After the apocalypse, the sky was covered, and the stars disappeared.

But here, there were stars all over the sky, dense and numerous, like a handful of scattered diamonds.
