366: Chapter 366 Ice Beauty
Qin Lin smiled and reached out to take her hand.
"Auntie Wan, aren't you also someone I sought out?"
Murong Wan glared at him but did not pull her hand away.
"I was rescued by you, not sought out. It is not the same."
"How is it not the same?"
Murong Wan thought about it.
"Being rescued is passive, while being sought out is active. You actively sought them out; they did not actively seek you out."
Qin Lin thought about it and felt she had a point.
"Then how do you know I did not actively seek you out?"
Murong Wan paused, looking at him.
There was a certain light in his eyes—not joking, but serious.
Her face slowly turned red, and she lowered her head to look at their clasped hands.
"Qin Lin, stop teasing. Go and pick up your new person."
Qin Lin did not move, his fingers gently rubbing the back of her hand.
"No rush, they cannot run away."
Murong Wan's hand was trembling slightly.
She looked up at him, her lips moving as if to say something, but she remained silent.
Qin Lin leaned over and kissed her on the lips—very lightly, very quickly.
Murong Wan's face turned even redder, and she reached out to punch his shoulder.
"Are you crazy? This is the Bridge. What if someone comes in..."
"The door is closed."
Murong Wan turned her head to look; the door was indeed closed.
She took a deep breath, stood up, and picked up her teacup.
"I am leaving; you get busy."
She turned and walked away, her pace quick.
Qin Lin watched her retreating figure, the corners of his mouth curling up.
He reached out to touch his own lips, where her warmth still lingered.
The Ark flew for a long time and arrived at the first coordinate.
It was a valley surrounded by an energy storm, the intensity lower than the one The Ark had previously traversed, but still not weak.
Qin Lin adjusted the power of the protective shield to seventy percent, and The Ark flew into the storm and hovered in the valley.
The scanning array showed that the target was in a cave deep within the valley.
The cave was shallow, about ten meters, and there was one person inside.
Their vital signs were stable, Spiritual Qi fluctuations were steady, and their condition was good.
Qin Lin turned on the external speaker, his voice translated by the System into the common language of the Cultivation World.
"Person inside, The Ark is safe. Come on up."
The cave was silent for a long time.
Then, a woman walked out of the cave entrance.
She was wearing a black martial outfit, her hair tied in a high ponytail, and a long sword hung at her waist.
Her face was very pale, not the kind of paleness nourished by Spiritual Qi, but a pallor from not seeing the sun for years.
Her features were delicate, and there was a cold, sharp aura between her brows, like a swordsman who had been traveling alone for years.
Her cultivation was very high, Late Stage Golden Core; she was the person with the highest cultivation Qin Lin had ever seen in the Cultivation World.
[Target: Su Han]
[Age: Approx. 28 years old]
[comprehensive rating: 96 points]
[Identity: Loose Cultivator, no Sect]
[Status: Healthy, abundant Spiritual Qi]
Su Han looked up at The Ark; the silvery-white hull gleamed under the grey-black sky.
There was no fear or curiosity in her eyes, only a kind of "what is this" scrutiny.
Qin Lin walked out of The Ark and stood on the gangway looking at her.
Su Han's hand pressed on the hilt of her sword, but she did not draw it.
"Who are you?" Her voice was very cold.
Qin Lin looked at her.
"Qin Lin, owner of The Ark. It is safe on The Ark; there is food and water, and I can take you away from this world. Do you want to come up?"
Su Han looked at him and was silent for a long time, then she released the hilt and walked onto the gangway.
Qin Lin stepped aside to let her in; her footsteps did not stop as she walked past him, but her gaze lingered on his face for a moment.
Qin Lin led her into The Ark, through the corridor, and into the living room. Su Han stood in the center of the living room, looking at the glowing screens, automatic doors, and silvery-white walls, with no expression on her face.
Qin Lin arranged a room for her on the east side of the corridor, not far from Murong Wan's room.
Su Han walked into the room, closed the door, and said nothing.
Qin Lin stood in the corridor looking at the closed door, the corners of his mouth curling up.
96 points, Loose Cultivator, cold beauty.
Another premium one.
He turned and went to Murong Wan's room.
Murong Wan was sitting by the window reading, and she put down the book when she saw Qin Lin come in.
"Did you pick her up?"
Qin Lin sat down opposite her.
"Picked one up, named Su Han, a Loose Cultivator. She is very cold; she did not smile from start to finish."
Murong Wan looked at him.
"Are you interested again?"
Qin Lin thought about it.
"Not interested, but appreciative. As a Loose Cultivator, it is not easy to survive in the Central Region."
Murong Wan did not speak, picked up her teacup and took a sip.
Qin Lin stood up and walked to her, reaching out to take the teacup from her hand and placing it on the table.
Murong Wan looked up at him; there was light in his eyes.
"Auntie Wan."
"Hmm."
"Are you really not jealous?"
Murong Wan shook her head.
"No. With so many women on The Ark, have you ever seen me jealous of anyone?"
Qin Lin crouched down, put his hands on her knees, and looked up at her.
Murong Wan's face flushed slightly, and she did not know where to put her hands.
"Qin Lin, what are you doing?"
"Looking at you."
Murong Wan reached out and flicked his forehead.
"Get up. Look at how old you are, still crouching on the floor."
Qin Lin did not get up, but instead leaned his head on her knees.
Murong Wan's hand paused on his head, hesitated for a moment, then gently stroked his hair.
"Qin Lin."
"Hmm."
"Are you acting spoiled?"
Qin Lin's voice was muffled.
"Not acting spoiled, just tired. Piloted The Ark all day, picked up a cold beauty, and was questioned by you."
Murong Wan's fingers combed gently through his hair.
"I was not questioning you."
Qin Lin lifted his head from her knees and looked into her eyes.
"Then what were you thinking about?"
Murong Wan looked at him and was silent for a while.
"Thinking about when you will forget me. There are more and more women on The Ark—young, beautiful, with high cultivation. How long can an old woman like me hold your heart?"
Qin Lin stood up and cupped her face with both hands.
"Auntie Wan, you are not an old woman. You are Murong Wan, the most beautiful woman on The Ark."
Murong Wan's tears fell; she was not crying, the tears just fell on their own.
Qin Lin wiped away her tears with his thumb and kissed her.
Murong Wan closed her eyes, her hands resting on his shoulders.
Footsteps came from the corridor, very light, but both of them heard them.
Qin Lin let her go and took a step back.
Murong Wan wiped her face, picked up the book on the table, and turned a page. The footsteps got closer and closer, then stopped.
There were three knocks on the door.
"Mother, are you there?" Murong Xue's voice.
Murong Wan glanced at Qin Lin; Qin Lin walked to the window, his back to the door.
Murong Wan took a deep breath and said in a steady voice, "I am. Come in."
The door opened, and Murong Xue walked in.
She saw Qin Lin and paused.
"Qin Lin, why are you here?"
Qin Lin turned around, his expression natural.
"Came to check on your mother's Recovery status."
Murong Xue looked at him, then looked at Murong Wan.
Murong Wan was looking down at her book, her expression calm.
Murong Xue did not suspect anything, walked over and sat down next to Murong Wan, holding her arm.
