265: Chapter 265 Mom, I'll take you to find Dad

Over the next few days, the change in Su Yuling became increasingly obvious.

She began to smile.

It wasn't her previous polite smile, but a smile that seeped out from her very bones, carrying a certain hidden meaning.

She smiled while eating, while reading, while walking, and even while lost in thought.

She began to appear frequently in Qin Lin's line of sight. These weren't 'chance encounters' like Li Ran's previous attempts, but rather she would stand directly in the path he had to take, waiting for him to approach. Then she would simply watch him, neither speaking nor moving away.

Every time Qin Lin called out to her, she would give a slight smile and then turn to leave.

That smile wasn't the sweet smile of before; it was deep and carried a mysterious intent.

It was as if she were looking at prey.

As if something she had been waiting for a long time was finally within her grasp.

Qin Lin felt creeped out by her gaze, yet he couldn't put his finger on what exactly was wrong.

This afternoon, Qin Lin stepped out of the Drivers Cabin, planning to go to the living room for some water.

Su Yuling was standing there in the hallway again.

She was wearing a white dress, her hair was loose, and she was barefoot. She wasn't holding that book in her hand.

She just stood there like a statue.

Qin Lin walked over. "Yuling, what's wrong?"

Su Yuling looked up at him, her eyes containing something indescribable.

It wasn't tenderness, nor was it expectation. It was something... frantic, something suppressed for a long time that was about to burst forth.

"Brother Qin Lin."

She spoke softly and gently, but Qin Lin could hear a slight tremble in her voice.

Just when Qin Lin thought she was finally going to talk to him, Su Yuling simply turned and walked away.

This left Qin Lin scratching his head, completely baffled.

"She's just teasing me."

Qin Lin shook his head and left.

Li Ran was the first to notice that something was wrong with Su Yuling's changes.

That afternoon, while she was sitting in the living room drinking water, Su Yuling passed through the hallway, glanced at her, and smiled.

That smile almost made Li Ran drop the cup in her hand.

It wasn't that the smile itself was terrifying, but rather what was inside it.

It was like a leopard watching its prey—unhurried, calm, and certain that the prey would belong to it sooner or later.

"Yuling?" Li Ran called out to her.

Su Yuling stopped and turned her head. "What is it, Mom?"

Her voice was normal and her expression was normal, but Li Ran just felt that something was off.

"Are you... alright?"

Su Yuling tilted her head. "I'm fine. I'm doing great."

She smiled again after speaking and turned to leave.

Li Ran sat where she was, her heart beating so fast that her body felt like it might jump involuntarily.

Despite the rapid heartbeat, there was no sense of fear.

What on earth is going on with this girl?

She thought back to that night again.

Su Yuling had schemed to get Qin Lin into the bathroom and had made her say those things without her knowing.

In the end, she had naturally ended up sleeping with Qin Lin.

That wasn't a spur-of-the-moment prank; it was a deliberately designed trap.

The more Li Ran thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

That night, in Room 000.

Li Ran was lying in bed, with Su Yuling lying beside her.

The room was very quiet, with only the sound of their breathing.

Li Ran had her eyes closed and was about to fall asleep.

Suddenly, Su Yuling spoke.

"Mom."

Li Ran responded drowsily, "Hmm?"

"What do you say... we go find Dad?"

Li Ran's sleepiness vanished instantly.

She snapped her eyes open and turned to look at Su Yuling.

Su Yuling lay there, her eyes bright and a smile on her lips.

"What did you say?" Li Ran's voice was a bit sharp.

"I said, let's go find Dad."

Su Yuling repeated herself, her tone as calm as if she were commenting on the weather.

Li Ran sat up and looked at her daughter. "Have you lost your mind? Your father isn't on the RV, you know that. How are we supposed to find him now? Stop thinking about that man who abandoned his wife and daughter."

Li Ran grew furious the moment she heard Su Zhenyun's name.

Furthermore, she was Qin Lin's woman now.

Su Yuling didn't speak; she just looked at Li Ran, the smile on her face deepening.

That smile made Li Ran feel creeped out.

"Yuling, what is really going on with you?" Li Ran's voice was full of worry. "Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

Su Yuling didn't answer. She just watched her quietly for a few seconds, then gently sat up and got out of bed.

She walked to Li Ran's side and took her hand.

"Mom, I'm taking you to find Dad."

Her hand was cold, but her grip was tight, and her tone carried an unquestionable firmness.

Li Ran was pulled out of bed by her, her heart growing increasingly uneasy.

"Yuling, what are you trying to do? Your father isn't here..."

"He is," Su Yuling interrupted her, her tone certain. "He's been here all along."

Li Ran was stunned.

What did she mean?

When was Su Zhenyun ever brought onto the RV?

Su Yuling didn't explain. Holding her mother's hand, she walked out of Room 000.

The hallway was very quiet, with only the wall lamps casting a dim, yellow light.

Su Yuling walked slowly, her footsteps light as if she were taking a stroll.

Li Ran followed behind her, her heart becoming more and more frantic.

Neither mother nor daughter was wearing shoes; they just walked barefoot down the hallway of the RV.

They walked down the corridor and turned a corner.

Li Ran saw the stairs.

The stairs leading to the second and Third Floor.

Her heart began to race as an uncontrollable suspicion formed in her mind.

"Yuling, where are you going?" Her voice trembled slightly.

Su Yuling didn't answer. She just pulled her along, walking up the stairs step by step.

Li Ran's mind was a mess.

There shouldn't be anyone on the second floor at this hour, and even if there were, it wouldn't be worth Su Yuling taking her there.

But the Third Floor was where Qin Lin lived.

Su Yuling said she was taking her to find Dad.

Dad...

Qin Lin...

Li Ran suddenly understood something.

Her face instantly flushed red, from the base of her neck to the tips of her ears.

This girl, the 'Dad' she was talking about was...

Li Ran's heart beat so fast it felt like it would jump out of her chest.

She wanted to break free from Su Yuling's hand, but Su Yuling held on so tightly that she couldn't break away at all.

And... she actually felt a sliver of expectation in her heart.

That expectation made her feel ashamed, but it also made her excited.

Su Yuling pulled her to the door of the Third Floor.

The door wasn't closed, leaving a small crack.

Su Yuling pushed the door open and walked in.

Li Ran followed behind her, her palms covered in sweat.

In the living room of the Third Floor, Qin Lin was sitting on the sofa reading a book.

He was wearing loose pajamas and had just showered.

Hearing footsteps, he looked up.

When he saw Su Yuling, he was stunned for a moment.

Then he saw Li Ran behind Su Yuling and was stunned again.

"Yuling? Aunt Ran? Why are you..."

Before Qin Lin could finish his sentence, Su Yuling spoke.

"Dad."

Qin Lin's mind went blank instantly, and the book in his hand fell heartlessly onto the cold floor as if it had been abandoned.

Dad?

Who was she calling Dad?

Qin Lin looked left and right; his father-in-law wasn't in his room.

Could it be...

She was calling him Dad?

Qin Lin opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but not a single word would come out.

Su Yuling pulled Li Ran in front of Qin Lin, her smile as bright as a flower.

"Dad, I brought Mom to see you."

Qin Lin looked at Su Yuling and then at Li Ran, his mind in a complete state of chaos.

She really was calling him that.

What kind of stunt was she pulling?
