370: Chapter 370 Conquering the Ice Beauty
Murong Wan looked at him.
"It's not about being insightful, it's about having experienced it. When the Murong Family was in decline, I was the same kind of person, full of wariness toward the world, not opening my heart to anyone, until I boarded The Ark and met you."
Qin Lin pulled her into his embrace.
Murong Wan leaned against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
"Qin Lin."
"Hmm."
"Do you think I'm very petty? Getting jealous whenever I see a young, beautiful woman."
Qin Lin looked down at her.
"No, you look very beautiful when you're jealous."
Murong Wan reached out and punched his chest.
"You're spouting nonsense again."
Qin Lin took her hand and placed it over his heart.
"Feel it, is my heartbeat very fast?"
Murong Wan's palm rested against his chest; his heartbeat was indeed very fast.
Her face slowly turned red.
Qin Lin lowered his head and kissed her; she closed her eyes, and her hand moved from his chest to his shoulder.
That night, Qin Lin stayed in Murong Wan's room until very late.
When he left, Murong Wan was leaning against the headboard, her face flushed, the corners of her mouth curled up.
Qin Lin stood at the door and looked back at her. She said, "Don't come tomorrow, Xue'er asked me during the day why you keep coming over here."
"Just tell her I'm checking on my mother-in-law."
Murong Wan glared at him, but the corners of her mouth curled up even higher.
The next morning, Qin Lin ran into Murong Xue in the hallway.
Murong Xue was wearing a light blue sports tank top and white shorts, her hair tied into a high ponytail, holding a short sword in her hand.
She saw Qin Lin and slowed her pace.
"Qin Lin, where did you go last night?"
Qin Lin remained calm.
"I was in my room looking at the star charts."
Murong Xue looked at him, a light in her eyes—not suspicion, but curiosity.
"You've been locking yourself in your room a lot lately; is there something you're hiding from me?"
Qin Lin reached out and patted her head.
"No, there are many new passengers recently, lots of things to do, I'm busy."
Murong Xue didn't dodge, letting him pat her, then turned and walked away.
She stopped after a few steps without looking back.
"Qin Lin, my mother has been in a very good mood lately, she smiles more than before. She says it's because The Ark is safe, but looking at her eyes, it doesn't seem like she's looking at The Ark, it seems like she's looking at a person."
Qin Lin stood in the hallway, watching her back disappear around the corner of the stairs.
He reached into his pocket and touched the white crystal stone; it was warm and not glowing.
The Ark continued to cruise through the inland of the Central Region. Qin Lin decided to organize the few newly recruited women to help them get familiar with life on The Ark.
Su Han was still locking herself in her room to Cultivate, so Qin Lin went to find her.
He stood at the door of Su Han's room and knocked three times.
The door opened, and Su Han stood at the entrance wearing a black martial outfit, her hair tied in a high ponytail, with no expression on her face.
"Something up?" Her voice was cold.
Qin Lin looked at her.
"The Ark doesn't support idlers. You lock yourself in your room every day, don't communicate with others, and don't participate in group activities. This doesn't follow the rules of The Ark."
Su Han looked at him.
"What rules?"
Qin Lin thought for a moment.
"Go to the living room for meals, go to the Cultivate room to Cultivate, and when you're free, you can walk around The Ark; don't stay in your room all the time."
Su Han was silent for a moment, then said: "I'm not avoiding communication; it's that no one communicates with me."
Qin Lin was stunned for a second.
What she said was indeed a fact.
The women on The Ark were afraid to talk to her because her aura was too cold.
Qin Lin thought for a moment.
"Then communicate with me. I'll come to chat with you every day. Would you like that?"
Su Han looked at him, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
"Why do you want to chat with me?"
Qin Lin smiled.
"Because I like cold people."
Su Han didn't speak and turned back into the room.
Qin Lin thought she was going to close the door, but she didn't. She sat down by the bed and looked at him.
"Come in."
Qin Lin walked in and sat down opposite her.
Su Han's room was very tidy; the bed was smooth, there was no clutter on the table, and on the windowsill sat a pot of unknown Spiritual Plant with emerald green leaves.
Qin Lin looked around.
"Did you grow this pot of Spiritual Plant?"
Su Han glanced at the Spiritual Plant.
"Yeah, I found it in the ruins and brought it back to plant. I didn't expect it to survive."
Qin Lin stood up, walked over, and crouched down to examine the Spiritual Plant.
The leaves were very small with fine, jagged edges, and they felt a bit prickly to the touch.
He asked the System what it was.
The System prompted: [Spiritual Plant: Frost Grass, can be used as medicine, grows in extremely cold places, sensitive to Spiritual Power fluctuations, prefers quietness.]
Qin Lin turned to look at Su Han.
"This grass is a lot like your personality—it prefers quietness."
The corners of Su Han's mouth twitched—not a smile, but not her usual coldness either.
"You understand Spiritual Plant?"
Qin Lin shook his head.
"I don't. The System told me."
Su Han didn't respond.
Qin Lin returned to the chair and sat down, looking at her.
"Su Han, what did you do in the Central Region before?"
Su Han was silent for a while.
"Cultivate, kill Yao Beast, take bounty missions—alone."
"Isn't it lonely being alone?"
Su Han looked at him.
"I'm used to it."
Qin Lin looked into her eyes; they were very black and deep, like two bottomless wells.
There was no loneliness inside, no sadness, only a kind of calm that said, "This is my life."
"Su Han."
"Hmm."
"From today on, you are not alone."
Su Han looked at him, silent for a long time.
Then she stood up, walked to the window, and turned her back to him.
"You should go; I need to Cultivate."
Qin Lin stood up, walked to the door, and looked back at her.
Su Han stood by the window, her silhouette very thin and straight.
He closed the door and left.
Qin Lin went to chat with Su Han every day.
It wasn't that he wanted to, but Su Han wouldn't speak to anyone else, and he had to make her integrate into The Ark.
On the first day, he brought a cup of hot milk.
Su Han looked at the milk and didn't take it.
"I don't drink this."
"Then what do you drink?"
"Tea."
On the second day, Qin Lin brought a cup of tea.
Su Han took it, drank a sip, and put it down.
"It's cold."
On the third day, Qin Lin brought a pot of freshly brewed tea in a thermos.
Su Han poured a cup and drank a sip.
"The temperature is just right."
Qin Lin smiled.
On the fourth day, Qin Lin took her to the Ecological Plantation to see the Spiritual Tree that Xu Xue planted.
Su Han stood in front of the Spiritual Tree for a long time and reached out to touch the leaves.
"This tree is a Spiritual Plant; it can be used for medicine."
Xu Xue poked her head out from behind her drawing board to look at her; Su Han didn't look at Xu Xue, her gaze remaining on the Spiritual Tree.
Qin Lin stood beside her.
"Su Han, do you know how to grow Spiritual Plants?"
Su Han nodded.
"A little. A Loose Cultivator has to support themselves; Alchemy, growing herbs, Artifact Refining—you have to know a little of everything."
Qin Lin looked at her; her profile was very soft under the simulated sunlight.
He noticed that when she spoke, the corners of her mouth would occasionally twitch—not a smile, but not cold either.
