406: Chapter 406: Of course, it's about continuing to have children.
The two walked off The Ark and stepped onto the grass.
Ling was barefoot, stepping on the grass, feeling the softness of the blades and the Warmth of the soil.
She took a few steps, stopped, and looked up at the sky.
The sky was blue, the clouds were white, and the sunlight was warm.
She closed her eyes and let out a long breath.
Qin Lin stood beside her. "How is it?"
Ling opened her eyes. "Very good, even better than I imagined."
Qin Lin looked at her. "Have you never come out before?"
Ling was silent for a moment. "No."
Qin Lin did not press her.
The two walked slowly on the grass, neither of them speaking.
After walking for a while, Ling stopped and looked at a forest in the distance. "There is something there."
Qin Lin followed her gaze. "What is it?"
Ling thought for a moment. "A kind of flower, purple, very small, growing next to tree roots."
She walked over, crouched down, reached out to push aside the grass, and saw a cluster of small purple flowers.
The flowers were tiny, with petals only the size of a fingernail, but they bloomed densely.
Ling reached out and gently touched the petals. "So beautiful."
Qin Lin crouched beside her. "Do you like flowers?"
Ling looked up at him. "I didn't like them before, but I like them now."
Qin Lin picked a small purple flower from the ground and handed it to her.
Ling was stunned for a moment, took the flower, and looked at it in silence for a while.
She tucked the flower into her lapel and stood up. "Thank you."
Qin Lin smiled. "You're welcome."
The women also began to take the initiative to interact with Ling.
One day, Han Yurou called out to her in the living room. "Sister Ling, can you teach me how to Cultivate? They all say you are very powerful at Cultivation."
Ling looked at her and nodded. "Sure, sit down, and let me check your Spiritual Power circulation first."
Han Yurou sat down, and Ling extended a finger, gently tapping her between the eyebrows.
Han Yurou felt a wave of Warmth energy rush into her body, circulate through her Meridians, and then withdraw.
"Your Spiritual Root is a Fire Spiritual Root, and your Cultivation Technique leans towards offense, but your Spiritual Power circulation is not smooth enough; you need to adjust the rhythm."
Ling withdrew her hand and looked at Han Yurou. "Try slowing down your speed by one-third when running your Cultivation Technique."
Han Yurou did as she was told, and it was indeed much smoother than before.
She opened her eyes and looked at Ling. "You're amazing!"
The corners of Ling's mouth curled up. "It's because you were already quite good."
Liu Ruyan also went to look for Ling.
One night, she waited for Ling in the hallway. "Sister Ling, I want to learn to Cultivate too. Su Han and the others are all learning, and I'm falling behind."
Ling looked at her. "Your Spiritual Root is a Fire Spiritual Root, just like Han Yurou's, but she leans towards offense, while you lean towards defense."
Liu Ruyan was stunned. "I thought I could only fight."
The corners of Ling's mouth curled up. "You can defend as well."
She extended her finger and tapped Liu Ruyan between the eyebrows, a wisp of Warmth energy probing into her Meridians and circulating back and forth once.
Liu Ruyan closed her eyes and felt it for a moment. "It really feels much more comfortable."
She opened her eyes. "Sister Ling, you are truly amazing."
Su Han was the last one.
She went to find Ling late at night; it was a quiet evening. She stood at the door of Ling's room and knocked three times.
The door opened, and Ling stood at the doorway. "Why are you here?"
Su Han looked at her. "I want to ask you to help me check my Spiritual Root. You've helped so many people, I want that too."
Ling turned sideways to let her in. "Sit down."
Su Han sat on the chair by the window, and Ling sat opposite her, extending a finger to tap her between the eyebrows.
When that wisp of energy probed into her Meridians, Su Han felt a cool aura circulating along her Meridians; her Ice Spiritual Root began to glow slightly, as if it had been awakened.
Ling withdrew her hand. "Your Spiritual Root is excellent, a mutated Ice Spiritual Root, with greater potential than an ordinary Ice Spiritual Root, but you need a more focused Cultivation environment."
She thought for a moment. "If you are willing, you can find a quiet place in the Ecological Plantation on The Ark to Cultivate; the Spiritual Qi there is purer than in the hallway."
Su Han nodded. "Okay."
She stood up, walked to the door, and looked back at Ling. "Thank you."
The corners of Ling's mouth curled up. "You're welcome."
Days on The Ark continued to move forward.
Ling's presence made The Ark better; the routes were more optimized, energy utilization efficiency was higher, and passengers Cultivated faster.
Qin Lin stood on the Observation Tower, looking at the starry sky outside the window.
Footsteps came from behind, and Ling walked up and stood beside him. "What are you thinking about?"
Qin Lin thought for a moment. "Thinking about what to do in the future."
Ling answered Qin Lin without even thinking. "Of course, it's to keep having children."
Qin Lin: "..."
Hearing this, Qin Lin was speechless. He really wanted to say: Didn't you say you wanted me to rest well? Why are we starting to have children again?
However, thinking about the experiences along the way, Qin Lin realized that he just had to keep having many children.
...
Qin Lin was looking at the star map on the Bridge, and Ling walked in and sat on the chair beside him.
She didn't speak, just sat there.
Qin Lin turned his head and glanced at her. "What's wrong?"
Ling looked at the star map on the holographic screen. "I have something I want to tell you."
Qin Lin closed the star map and turned to her. "Go ahead."
Ling was silent for a while, then spoke. "Do you know why I can recover so quickly?"
Qin Lin thought for a moment. "Because of the source crystal?"
Ling shook her head. "The source crystal is a source of energy, but not the root cause. The root cause is you, the children you and the women on The Ark have."
Qin Lin looked at her. "Children?"
Ling nodded. "My way of existence is different from yours. My 'vitality' comes from the birth of new life. Every child's birth generates a type of energy I call 'Life Echo'. This energy nourishes me and allows me to recover."
Qin Lin was stunned. "So... your speed of Recovery depends on the speed and quantity of us having children?"
Ling looked at him. "Yes, and it's not just a matter of Recovery; my abilities also come from this."
She extended her hand, and a ball of pale purple light danced in her palm. "Look at this; this is an ability I just recovered, Perception. I can sense the emotional state of everyone on The Ark, knowing who is happy, who is sad, and who needs help."
She withdrew her hand. "But the strength of this ability depends on the number of children on The Ark; the more children, the stronger the ability."
Qin Lin looked at her. "So when you were asleep, were you also constantly absorbing this energy?"
Ling nodded. "Yes, I was asleep before. But as long as new life is born on The Ark, I can absorb the 'Life Echo'. After the apocalypse, very few children were born, so I couldn't wake up. It wasn't until you started driving to pick people up, and the number of children on The Ark increased, that I slowly accumulated enough energy."
