55: Aunt Qing

Han Yurou nodded and lowered her voice:

"Sister Wanwan said this is a Doomsday RV. It's much larger inside than it looks from the outside, with a kitchen, bedrooms, and even a place to grow vegetables."

"It can also be upgraded; it needs those glowing crystal stones..."

"Upgrade? crystal stones?"

Han Qing frowned.

"I can't explain it clearly either, but Mom, it's true."

Han Yurou said seriously.

"We've been on the vehicle for a long time already."

"There's electricity, hot water, and food."

Han Qing fell silent.

She checked her body: aside from her foot injury and weakness, there were no other issues.

Her clothes had been changed to clean hospital scrubs, and there were no improper marks on her body.

Although her daughter was thin, her spirits seemed okay, and there was a light in her eyes.

It was the light of hope, not the numbness and despair born of the apocalypse.

"What are their requirements?" Han Qing asked directly.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, especially in the apocalypse.

If someone saves a life, they must want something in return.

"The vehicle is short on doctors."

Han Yurou said.

"Brother Qin Lin told me directly. He said if you're willing to stay, you can become the team's doctor, and they will provide protection and supplies."

"If you're not willing, once you're better, they can give you some food and medicine and let you leave on your own."

"He said that himself?"

"Mhm."

Han Qing leaned back against the pillow, her mind racing.

A doctor—that was her value in the apocalypse.

If they needed her professional skills, then she and Yu Rou would be safe, at least in the short term.

But what about the long term?

Three young people, one man and two women, living in the same vehicle... their relationship was likely complicated.

"That Qin Lin, and the other two girls..."

"I don't know either, but they have a very good relationship."

Han Yurou spoke with some hesitation.

"And they've been very kind to me, truly."

"They haven't forced me to do anything, and they even let me have a separate room with two beds, saying we could live together once you woke up."

"Did they do anything to you..."

"No."

Han Yurou shook her head.

"Brother Qin Lin is very respectful. While I was watching over you, he urged me to rest, saying that if I collapsed too, there would be no one to take care of you."

"Sister Wanwan heated porridge for me, and Sister Yuran showed me the vegetable garden on the vehicle and said I could be in charge of watering it later."

Han Qing carefully observed her daughter's expression and saw no traces of lying or concealment.

Perhaps... they really had met good people?

"I want to meet them," she said.

"Okay, I'll go call them."

Han Yurou stood up, walked to the door of the Medical Room, then turned back.

"Mom, they really saved our lives. If it weren't for this vehicle, we might have already..."

She didn't finish, but Han Qing understood.

Without this vehicle, the mother and daughter's fate would have been to freeze to death, starve to death, or die from a worsening infection.

Either way, they wouldn't have survived three days.

"I know," Han Qing said softly. "Go on."

In the living room, Qin Lin, Su Yuran, and Lin Wanwan were all there.

Seeing Han Yurou come out, the three of them stood up at the same time.

"My mother is awake," Han Yurou said. "She wants to see you."

Qin Lin nodded.

The three of them entered the Medical Room.

Han Qing had managed to sit up straight, leaning her back against the headboard.

Although her face was pale, her eyes were clear and sharp—the gaze of someone who had experienced life and death.

"Hello, Dr. Han."

Qin Lin spoke first.

"I am Qin Lin, and this is Su Yuran."

"I'm sure you know Lin Wanwan."

Han Qing looked at Lin Wanwan, her gaze softening significantly as she breathed a sigh of relief.

Lin Wanwan also cried out happily:

"Aunt Qing, you're finally awake."

"Thank you for saving me and my daughter."

Han Qing looked at her, then turned to Qin Lin, her tone formal and restrained.

"I heard from Yu Rou that you need a doctor."

"Correct."

Qin Lin didn't beat around the bush.

"I'll be blunt, Dr. Han. This RV is mine. It has a complete survival System, but it lacks a professional medical staff member."

"Yuran, Wanwan, and I aren't medically trained. We can handle minor injuries and illnesses, but we're helpless when it comes to severe injuries or infections."

He pointed at the injury on Han Qing's foot:

"For instance, in your situation, even if we had medicine, we wouldn't dare use it carelessly."

Han Qing listened quietly.

"In the apocalypse, you understand the value of a doctor without me saying it."

Qin Lin continued, "If you're willing to join us and become the team's dedicated doctor, you and Han Yurou will gain permanent passenger status."

"Room and board are included on the vehicle, you'll have a separate room, and you'll enjoy all survival guarantees."

"What you need to do is be responsible for the team's medical health."

"And if I'm not willing?" Han Qing asked.

"Then I'll prepare three days' worth of food, basic medicine, and warm gear for you. Once you're feeling better, you can take Han Yurou and leave for wherever you like."

Qin Lin spoke very frankly. If Lin Wanwan hadn't known her, he wouldn't have been kind enough to even give them food.

He was only going this far because of Lin Wanwan.

"But I suggest you don't do that. The temperature outside is minus forty-two degrees, and even lower in some places. It will take at least two weeks before you can even manage to walk on your foot."

"The success rate of surviving in a blizzard with a young girl is almost zero."

Han Qing fell silent.

What Qin Lin said was a fact—cruel, but true.

Han Yurou whispered, "Mom, I want to stay."

Han Qing looked at her daughter.

The girl's eyes were full of pleading.

It wasn't out of naive dependence, but based on a realistic judgment.

In this past month, Yu Rou had grown up so much; she clearly knew the consequences of leaving this vehicle.

"Can I see this vehicle?" Han Qing asked. "I mean, the parts other than the Medical Room."

"Of course." Qin Lin stepped aside. "Yuran, Wanwan, help Dr. Han. Her foot can't bear any weight."

Su Yuran and Lin Wanwan stepped forward, carefully helping Han Qing out of bed from both sides.

There was a wheelchair ready in the Medical Room. They had Han Qing sit down and pushed her out of the room.

Over the next half hour, Han Qing saw the most incredible sights of her life.

The interior of the RV had nearly eighty square meters of living space.

A living room, kitchen, four bedrooms, a private bathroom, as well as the Medical Room and that "ecological box" filled with vegetables.

All the equipment was running: lights, air conditioning, water heater, induction cooker, refrigerator.

The display screen showed the external temperature (-42.3°C) and internal temperature (23.1°C) in real-time.

The energy bar showed "2420/∞."

Infinite energy?

"How is this possible?" Han Qing couldn't help but ask.

Qin Lin explained simply.

"The doomsday rv system is bound to me. The vehicle can be upgraded, and its functions will increase."

"We are currently at Lv3, which already has functions like autopilot, a self-generating network, and medical assistance."

"After reaching Lv4, there might be a weapons system and all-terrain adaptability."

"And the cost?"

Han Qing went straight to the heart of the matter.

"Such supernatural power cannot come without a price."

Qin Lin looked at her and said after a few seconds:
