379: Chapter 379 is very proactive
After living on The Ark for a week, Li Ruyan was intimately familiar with everything on the ship.
She knew what time Han Qing went to the Medical Room every morning, when Li Ying would lie down on the massage chair, that Xu Xue did not like to be disturbed while painting, and when Qin Yue would take her afternoon nap.
She also knew that Qin Lin would go to see Su Han every afternoon, go to Murong Wan's room at night, and visit Murong Xue's room in the middle of the night.
But she did not care.
She had her own plan.
That morning, Qin Lin had just come out of the Bridge, ready to go to the kitchen to pour some water.
Li Ruyan was leaning against the corridor wall, holding a cup of hot tea. Seeing him come out, she smiled and walked up to him.
"Good morning. I have brewed some tea."
Qin Lin looked at the teacup in her hand, then looked at her.
Li Ruyan was wearing a red short-sleeved shirt and white shorts, her hair tied in a high ponytail. There was a smile on her face, and her eyes were sparkling.
She was like a ball of fire, bringing heat and light wherever she went.
"Thanks." Qin Lin took the teacup and took a sip.
The temperature of the tea was just right, neither too hot nor too cold, with a fresh fragrance.
Li Ruyan watched him finish it, her eyes brightening even more.
"Is it good?"
"It is good."
Li Ruyan smiled.
"Then I will brew some for you again tomorrow."
Qin Lin handed the teacup back to her.
"You do not have to brew tea for me every day."
Li Ruyan took the teacup and tilted her head as she looked at him.
"Why not? I want to brew it for you."
Qin Lin looked at her, not knowing what to say.
He felt that he had not taken the initiative to approach Li Ruyan; it was Li Ruyan who had approached him. She was certainly much more proactive than the others.
However, this was the effect he wanted.
Qin Lin said deliberately: "You do not need to be so good to me."
Li Ruyan looked at him.
"I am good to you because I want to be, not because you told me to be." She turned and left, stopped after two steps, without looking back.
"I will brew tea for you again tomorrow. Just wait."
She left.
Qin Lin stood in the corridor, looking at her back, and smiled.
In the afternoon, Qin Lin went to see Su Han.
Su Han was sitting by the window drinking tea. Seeing him come in, she pushed another cup of tea toward him.
"You are late today."
Qin Lin sat down opposite her.
"I was dealing with the flight path at the Bridge, so I was delayed for a while."
Su Han looked at him.
"Did Li Ruyan come to find you again this morning?"
Qin Lin nodded.
Su Han picked up her teacup and took a sip. "When she treats you well, are you happy?"
Qin Lin thought about it.
"I am happy, why would I not be?"
Su Han put down her teacup.
"Then as long as you are happy, that is fine."
Qin Lin reached out and took her hand.
Su Han did not pull it back.
"When you treat me well, I am happy too."
Su Han looked at him.
"Then when you come to see me tomorrow afternoon, bring a pot of tea. Do not drink hers."
Qin Lin was stunned for a moment, then laughed.
"Okay."
The corners of Su Han's mouth curled up slightly.
Qin Lin felt that Su Han was jealous, but her way of being jealous was different from the others. She would not make a scene, would not ask questions, and would only say, "Bring a pot of tea, do not drink hers."
At night, Qin Lin went to Murong Wan's room.
Murong Wan was wearing that dark blue nightgown, her hair loose, leaning against the headboard.
Qin Lin walked over and sat down next to her, telling her about the day's events.
Murong Wan was silent for a while after listening.
"Li Ruyan is this proactive?"
Qin Lin nodded.
"Yeah."
Qin Lin pulled her into his arms.
Murong Wan leaned against his chest.
...
The next morning, Li Ruyan came again.
She was carrying a pot of tea, standing at the door of the Bridge, and knocked three times.
Qin Lin said: "Come in." She pushed the door open, entered, placed the teapot on the console, poured two cups of tea, and pushed one toward Qin Lin.
"Today's tea is different. I added flower petals. Try it."
Qin Lin picked up the teacup and took a sip. The tea had a faint floral fragrance, sweet and fresh.
"It is good."
Li Ruyan smiled and sat down in the chair next to him.
"Qin Lin, are you busy today?"
"A bit busy. The flight path needs adjustment, and I need to check the star map."
Li Ruyan nodded.
"Then I will sit here and not disturb you."
She really did not disturb him.
She sat in the chair next to him, looking at the star map on the holographic screen, occasionally picking up her teacup to take a sip, without saying a word.
Qin Lin watched the star map for a while, then turned his head to glance at her.
Li Ruyan was looking out the window. Her profile was very soft in the light of the screen, and her eyelashes were very long.
Qin Lin withdrew his gaze and continued to look at the star map.
After a long time, Li Ruyan stood up.
"I am leaving."
Qin Lin sat in the Bridge, looking at the pot of tea that had not been finished, and the corners of his mouth curled up.
On the third day, Li Ruyan came again.
This time she brought a plate of snacks, placing them on the console.
"I made these. Try them."
Qin Lin looked at the plate of snacks. They looked good—golden yellow with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
"You can make snacks too?"
Li Ruyan nodded.
"I learned from my Senior Sister before. Do you like sweet or salty?"
Qin Lin thought about it.
"Sweet."
Li Ruyan's eyes lit up.
"Then I will make sweet ones tomorrow."
Qin Lin looked at her.
"Li Ruyan, are you not tired of coming to see me every day?"
Li Ruyan shook her head.
"Not tired. Coming to see you every day is the happiest thing for me."
Qin Lin was silent for a while.
"You do not have to come every day."
Li Ruyan looked at him.
"I said it before, I want to come."
Qin Lin looked at her, deliberately acting like he was rejecting her.
Li Ruyan stood up, walked to the door, and looked back at him.
Qin Lin sat in the Bridge, looking at the plate of snacks, picked one up, and took a bite.
It was sweet, crispy, and delicious.
On the fourth day, Li Ruyan came again.
This time she did not bring tea or snacks, just herself.
She walked into the Bridge, sat down in the chair in front of Qin Lin, placed her hands on her knees, and sat up straight.
"Qin Lin, I have something to tell you."
Qin Lin looked at her.
"Go ahead."
Li Ruyan took a deep breath. "I like you. I have liked you since the day I boarded the ship. I know there are many women around you—Murong Wan, Murong Xue, Su Han, Qing Yue, Hong Yao, Qing He—but I do not care. I just want to know, do you like me?"
Qin Lin looked at her. There was light in her eyes—not testing, but sincerity.
He was silent for a long time, then spoke.
"It is too early right now. No rush."
Li Ruyan was stunned.
"Why?"
Qin Lin thought about it.
"There are already many people on The Ark, I cannot handle it."
Li Ruyan was silent for a while.
"Are you rejecting me?"
Qin Lin looked at her. There was a kind of light in her eyes—not grievance, but unwillingness.
"It is not a rejection. It is asking you to wait."
Li Ruyan stood up.
"I will not wait. Whether you like me or not, I will keep coming to find you."
Qin Lin sat in the Bridge, looking toward the door, reaching out to touch the white crystal stone in his pocket. It was warm.
After being rejected, Li Ruyan not only did not retreat but became even more proactive.
She went to the Bridge every morning to bring tea to Qin Lin, went to the Bridge in the afternoon to accompany him while he looked at the star map, and went to the Bridge at night to wait for him to get off work.
Wherever Qin Lin went, she followed.
She was like a ball of fire, burning so brightly that Qin Lin had nowhere to escape.
