276: Chapter 276 Everyone looked at Han Yurou
Li Ran smiled, squatted down, and pointed at different flowers to introduce them to Su Yuling: "This is a rose, this is a daisy, this is lavender..."
Su Yuling listened attentively, asking a question every now and then.
Qin Lin stood to the side, watching the mother and daughter without saying a word.
After a while, Su Yuling stood up, picked a small red flower from the Flower Garden, turned around, and placed it on Li Ran's head.
"Mom, you look really beautiful with that flower," she said earnestly, her voice sweet. "Like a bride."
Li Ran's face flushed instantly. She raised her hand to touch the flower on her head, wanting to take it off but feeling reluctant.
"You... what are you saying?" "Stop it," she whispered, but the corners of her mouth curled up.
Su Yuling tilted her head and looked at her: "It's true. Dad, look, doesn't Mom look like a bride?"
Qin Lin looked at Li Ran. She had a red flower on her head, her face was flushed, and her eyes were a bit flustered, but the corners of her mouth were curled up.
Honestly, she did look beautiful. "She does."
Li Ran's face turned even redder. She lowered her head and turned to leave.
Su Yuling grabbed her, not letting her leave. "Mom, don't go. Let Dad look at you a bit longer."
Li Ran stood there, at a loss, like a little girl being teased.
Qin Lin smiled, walked over, took the flower off her head, and tucked it behind her ear. "Don't take it off, it looks good on you."
Li Ran looked up at him, her eyes filled with shyness, joy, and something indescribable.
"You two... are bullying me together," she whispered.
Su Yuling laughed, picked another flower, put it on her own head, and then turned to look at Qin Lin: "Dad, do I look good?"
"You do," Qin Lin said. Su Yuling smiled even more happily.
Li Ran stood up and walked to the side of the Flower Garden. There was a small wooden sign there that she had made a few days ago, but she hadn't written anything on it yet.
She took a pen out of her pocket, squatted down, and wrote on the wooden sign stroke by stroke.
Qin Lin walked over and saw the word she had written: "Home."
It was a crooked word, but every stroke had been written with great care. Li Ran finished writing, stood up, and looked at the wooden sign.
"This is our home," she said softly. Li Ran didn't speak, but she gripped Qin Lin's hand tightly.
Qin Lin squatted down and touched the wooden sign. The wood had been picked up in the forest, and the characters had been carved with a knife—deeply, with each stroke made with great effort.
Su Yuling stood to the side, watching the two of them, the corners of her mouth curled high.
In the distance, Su Yuran stood on the open-air platform on the second floor of the RV, watching this scene, a slight smile playing on her lips. She took out her camera and pressed the shutter. "Click."
Qin Lin turned his head, saw Su Yuran holding the camera, and smiled.
Li Ying climbed up from the grass, walked to the edge of the Flower Garden, bent down, and sniffed: "Hmm, fragrant. From now on, I'm going to sunbathe right here. With flowers and grass, it's much better than those parks in the city."
Xu Xue walked over, holding a drawing board. Looking at the Flower Garden, her eyes lit up: "Sister Ran, can I paint these flowers?" Li Ran nodded: "Of course, go ahead."
Xu Xue happily found an angle, set up her drawing board, and began to paint. Xia Qiuyan followed behind her, helping her mix paints and handing her brushes. The two worked in perfect harmony, like old partners.
Lin Wanwan and Wang Xiulan also walked over. Lin Wanwan was still holding the sweater that was almost finished. She looked at the Flower Garden and said softly: "It's really beautiful."
Han Yurou ran down from the RV, barefoot, her hair tied into two little buns, wearing a pink dress.
She ran to the edge of the Flower Garden, squatted down, and looked at the flowers, her eyes bright. "Mom Ran! These flowers are so pretty! Can I pick one?" She turned to look at Han Qing, her eyes expectant.
Li Ran was caught off guard by being called "Mom Ran" and was a bit confused.
She walked over and patted her head: "Go ahead, but you can only pick one."
Qin Lin was speechless watching from the side. This girl actually called her "Mom Ran"? It was truly speechless. He wondered what would happen if Han Qing found out about her randomly calling people "Mom"—would she spank her?
Qin Lin was actually quite looking forward to it. Li Ying, on the side, rolled her eyes and looked at Han Yurou as if she were an idiot.
"Yu Rou, when are you going to call me Mom Ying?" Han Yurou didn't even look up: "Pfft, in your dreams."
At noon, the vegetables Qin Lin planted were ready for harvest. The vegetable patch was on the east side of the RV; it wasn't large, but it grew a variety of vegetables. Tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, and radishes were growing well, with lush green leaves and plump fruit.
Although they could also grow vegetables on the RV, growing them in a place with real sunlight was different. After all, the RV's ecological box only used simulated sunlight.
The vegetable patch was on the east side of the RV; it wasn't large, only a few dozen square meters, but the vegetables were growing impressively. The greens were lush, the radishes were showing their red heads, and the branches were laden with tomatoes.
Qin Lin squatted in the vegetable patch and picked a few tomatoes; they were bright red and round. He took a bite; they were juicy, sweet, and tart.
Han Qing squatted in the vegetable patch, picked a handful of greens, and pulled up a few radishes. "These vegetables are growing really well, even better than the ones in the ecological box."
Qin Lin squatted beside her, helping her pick the vegetables: "The ones in the ecological box are fast-grown; these grew naturally and had real sunlight, so it's different."
Han Qing glanced at him and smiled: "I heard that before the apocalypse, you hadn't even grown flowers, right?"
Qin Lin thought about it. It was true; before the apocalypse, he could even kill a cactus. "The environment forced me to."
Han Qing nodded and didn't say anything more.
At noon, everyone used the vegetables from the patch to make a sumptuous lunch. Stir-fried greens with mushrooms, stewed pork ribs with radishes, stir-fried eggs with tomatoes, cold tossed cucumbers... The table was full, mostly green foods.
The vegetables were grown in the patch, and the ribs were bought from the System Store. Together, they were a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate.
Everyone sat around the living room; the dining table and coffee table were filled with dishes. Some were sitting, some were standing, but no one minded.
Han Yurou picked up some stir-fried eggs with tomatoes with her chopsticks, put them in her mouth, chewed, and her eyes lit up. Then, bowl after bowl, her chopsticks never stopped.
"Mom, these greens are so delicious." Han Qing picked some for her: "If they're delicious, eat more."
Han Yurou shoveled two mouthfuls of rice, suddenly looked up, stared at Qin Lin, and blurted out: "The vegetables Dad grew are really delicious."
As soon as the words left her lips, the air suddenly went quiet. Everyone looked at her.
Han Yurou was the first to freeze, a piece of tomato still gripped in her chopsticks, her mouth half-open. The expression on her face shifted from enjoyment to embarrassment, and then to panic.
