[Comprehensive Score: 91 (Meets task requirements)]
...[Guidance Successful: Female passengers 003 and 004 have boarded]
[survival points Reward: 400]
[New passengers boarded, triggering Hidden Tasks ×2]
A series of information unfolded in Qin Lin's mind.
"400?"
Qin Lin frowned in thought.
When Lin Wanwan boarded last time, the reward was 100 survival points.
According to this standard, Han Yurou and Han Qing together should have been 200 points. Why was it 400?
The System seemed to sense his doubt and added a display:
[Guiding two or more eligible female passengers (Comprehensive Score ≥ 90) at once, reward coefficient ×2]
[Number of passengers guided this time: 2, base reward 100 × 2 = 200, coefficient ×2, final reward 400]
[This rule only applies to the first multi-person guidance; subsequent multi-person boardings will be calculated based on the base reward]
So that was it.
Qin Lin looked at his survival points balance: 269 + 400 = 669.
With nearly seven hundred points, he could buy quite a lot of things from the System Store.
He remembered the store had Special Fuel, Advanced Food Packs, and Weapon Blueprints.
There were even some "Cross-World Items" that couldn't be unlocked yet.
The RV needed to reach a higher Rank to view them.
But what caught his attention more was the final prompt.
[New passengers boarded, triggering Hidden Tasks ×2]
Hidden Tasks.
Those two words made Qin Lin's heart skip a beat.
The last two Hidden Tasks were triggered after Su Yuran and Lin Wanwan boarded.
The task content was simple and direct: establish an intimate relationship with the corresponding passenger.
Upon completion, it rewarded progress in unlocking the supermarket space and gave quite a few supplies.
Now that Han Qing and Han Yurou were on board, two more Hidden Tasks had been triggered.
Qin Lin didn't click on the task details immediately.
He stared toward the Medical Room; through the semi-transparent glass partition, he could see Han Yurou's thin back.
The girl was still holding her mother's hand, occasionally raising her own hand to check the temperature of Han Qing's forehead.
Mother and daughter.
This was a mother and daughter pair.
If the content of the Hidden Tasks was the same as before... Qin Lin shook his head, suppressing the thought for now.
Now was not the time to consider that.
Han Qing was still unconscious, and the infection in her foot wound hadn't cleared up yet.
Though Han Yurou was frail, she was eighteen after all, but she had only just been rescued from the brink of death.
First, ensure they survive and adapt to life on the RV before talking about anything else.
"Have Hidden Tasks appeared again?"
Su Yuran asked softly.
Her tone was calm, but Qin Lin detected a hint of complex emotion.
Su Yuran was the first to board and the first to trigger a Hidden Task.
She had gone through much of the process and knew some secrets.
She had also witnessed the practical benefits brought by completing the tasks.
The supermarket space unlocked, supplies increased, and the RV's functions were improved.
But this time was different.
"Forget the tasks for now," Qin Lin said. "When Dr. Han wakes up, we need to determine if they are willing to stay. The vehicle needs a doctor, that's a fact. But if they want to find other relatives or have other plans..."
"They will stay."
Lin Wanwan said with certainty.
"We all know what it's like outside. This Doomsday RV is the only safe island in the apocalypse. As long as they aren't stupid, no one will leave."
She was right.
But Qin Lin hoped the people who stayed did so voluntarily, not out of desperate lack of choice.
"Yuran," he turned to look at Su Yuran, "about your parents..."
"I know."
Su Yuran smiled, but the smile was a bit forced.
"Let's solve the immediate problems first. The journey south will pass through Ning City; we'll look for them then. Now that there are two more people on the vehicle, especially an injured one, we need to get them settled first."
Qin Lin took her hand: "Thank you."
"What's there to thank?"
Su Yuran leaned on his shoulder.
"We are a family now. And..."
She glanced at Lin Wanwan, then toward the Medical Room.
"With more people, it's a bit livelier. Loneliness is the most frightening thing in the apocalypse."
Lin Wanwan nodded in agreement.
Time passed minute by minute.
At 10:20 PM, Han Yurou gently pushed open the Medical Room door and walked out.
Her eyes were a bit red, but her expression was relatively calm.
"My mom... her temperature seems to have normalized."
Her voice was a bit raspy from not speaking for a long time.
"Her finger moved just now; she might be waking up."
"That's great."
Lin Wanwan stood up.
"I'll go warm up some porridge. After being unconscious for so long, she'll need to replenish some fluids and energy when she wakes up."
"I'll go help."
Su Yuran also stood up.
The two girls walked toward the kitchen area.
Qin Lin said to Han Yurou:
"Go get some rest. We'll keep watch here."
Han Yurou shook her head: "I'm not tired."
But just after she said it, her body swayed uncontrollably.
Qin Lin stepped forward to support her, feeling that the girl's arm was so thin it was just skin and bones.
It hadn't even been a month yet, and she had withered to this extent.
It was truly severe.
"You haven't had a good rest in many days."
Qin Lin said in a tone that brooked no refusal.
"Now that your mother's condition is stable, you should take care of yourself. If you collapse too, who will take care of her?"
Han Yurou bit her lip and finally nodded.
"room 003 is ready."
Qin Lin pointed toward the rear of the cabin.
"There are two beds inside; it's perfect for you and your mother to stay in now."
"Go lie down for a while. Even if you can't sleep, resting your eyes is good."
Han Yurou looked in the direction Qin Lin pointed.
After the RV upgraded to Lv3, the internal space was nearly double what it was before.
There was the cockpit, living room, kitchen, public bathroom, master bedroom, and guest bedroom.
There was also the Medical Room and the ecological box.
The door to guest bedroom 003 slid open automatically, revealing the layout inside:
Two single beds with a nightstand in between, and a wardrobe and small desk against the wall.
Though simple, it was clean and cozy.
"This vehicle... just how big is it?"
Han Yurou couldn't help but ask.
"From the outside, it looks like a normal RV, but inside it uses folded space technology."
Qin Lin explained simply.
"I don't understand the specific principles either; it comes with the System."
"System?"
"Yes, the Doomsday RV System."
Qin Lin didn't hide it.
"This vehicle can upgrade and provide survival security; these are all functions of the System. You are one of the passengers; you'll slowly come to understand later."
Han Yurou nodded half-comprehendingly.
A month into the apocalypse, she had already seen too many unexplainable things:
Lakes freezing instantly, ice walls rising overnight, strange crystals glowing in blizzards... one more magical RV System didn't seem like much.
She walked into room 003 and sat on the bed near the door.
The mattress was soft, and the quilt was fluffy and clean, with the scent of having been dried in the sun.
Even though there had been no sunlight in the apocalypse for a long time, this was likely a simulation effect of the RV's ecological System.
Han Yurou didn't lie down; instead, she sat on the edge of the bed hugging her knees.
Taking refuge in school, her mother getting injured, food running out, waiting for death in despair... the experiences of just a few dozen days churned in her mind like a nightmare.
Then the RV appeared, and that man named Qin Lin brought light, warmth, and hope.
She looked at the walls of the room.
They were made of some soft-light material, emitting a warm, non-glaring glow.
The soundproofing was excellent; she could hardly hear any outside noise.
The temperature was comfortable, and the air was fresh.
Compared to that Hell-like world outside, this was practically heaven.
And what was the price?
Han Yurou wasn't stupid.
That beautiful sister named Su Yuran, and the gentle Sister Wanwan.
Their relationship with Qin Lin was clearly out of the ordinary.
