368: Chapter 368 Mother, is there something you're hiding from me?
Su Han began to move around on The Ark.
It wasn't because she wanted to walk around, but because Qin Lin told her to go to the living room to eat.
She had previously kept herself locked in her room, having the System deliver meals to her door every day.
One day, Qin Lin encountered her in the hallway and said, "The Ark does not support idlers; go to the living room to eat."
Su Han looked at him without saying a word, but that evening, she went to the living room.
She sat in the corner of the long table, a bowl of rice and a plate of vegetables placed in front of her.
She ate very slowly, chewing each mouthful for a long time.
The women on The Ark watched her, and no one dared to speak to her.
Her aura was too cold, like a sword unsheathed.
Han Yurou whispered to Han Qing, "Mom, that big sister is so scary."
Han Qing glanced at Su Han and said, "It has nothing to do with you; eat your food."
Murong Wan sat opposite Su Han, watching her eat.
Su Han felt her gaze and looked up; the two met eyes for a moment.
The corners of Murong Wan's mouth curled up slightly.
"Is the food enough? If not, I'll go get more."
Su Han looked at her and remained silent for a while.
"It's enough."
She lowered her head and continued to eat.
Murong Wan watched her, feeling that she wasn't as cold as she appeared on the surface. She just didn't know how to get along with others, like an abandoned cat—wary of people, yet inwardly longing for Warmth.
At night, Qin Lin was in Murong Wan's room.
"What do you think of Su Han?" Qin Lin asked.
Murong Wan thought for a moment.
"She is not an easy person to get along with."
Qin Lin nodded.
"Then please help me take care of her."
Murong Wan looked at him.
"You want me to help you take care of your new woman?"
Qin Lin laughed.
"It's not helping me take care of her, it's helping The Ark. She is a passenger on The Ark, and you are the best person on The Ark at taking care of others."
Murong Wan glared at him, but did not refuse.
Yun Shu was the most active of the three.
She was curious about everything on The Ark, walking back and forth in the hallway every day, looking here and there.
She asked Han Yurou, "Why can this light shine without a Spirit Stone?"
She asked Li Ying, "Why can this chair give massages?"
She asked Xu Xue, "What are you drawing?"
Han Yurou became impatient with her questions and said, "Why don't you go ask Brother Lin?"
Yun Shu really went to find Qin Lin and asked him questions in the Bridge for an entire afternoon.
"Qin Lin, what Materials is The Ark made of?"
"Qin Lin, how fast can The Ark fly?"
"Qin Lin, how many people can The Ark carry?"
Qin Lin had a headache from her questions, but her voice was very pleasant—crisp, like wind chimes.
Her face was round, her eyes were big, and she had two little dimples when she smiled.
She didn't look like a Cultivator; she looked more like a child who hadn't grown up.
"Qin Lin, do you have a wife?"
Qin Lin looked at her.
"Why are you asking this?"
Yun Shu blinked.
"Curiosity. There are so many women on The Ark; they are all your women, right? I'm guessing."
Qin Lin did not deny it.
Yun Shu's eyes lit up.
"Then can I be your woman too?"
Qin Lin looked at her, not knowing what to say.
Yun Shu laughed.
"I'm joking, don't be nervous. I know the rules."
She turned and left.
Qin Lin sat in the Bridge, feeling that this new Formation Master was much harder to deal with than Su Han.
Bai Zhi was the one who gave Qin Lin the least trouble.
She helped Han Qing in the Medical Room every day, busy from morning till night without complaining or calling it tiring.
Han Qing taught her how to operate The Ark's medical System, and she learned it instantly.
Sometimes when Qin Lin went to the Medical Room, he would see her sitting in the corner reading medical books, her hair tied in two braids hanging over her chest, her face without makeup, clean and fresh like a newly bloomed white flower.
"Bai Zhi," Qin Lin called her.
She looked up, her eyes bright.
"What's the matter?"
"Are you tired?"
"Not tired. It's much easier than fleeing for my life on the ground."
Qin Lin looked at her, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
She smiled and lowered her head to continue reading.
Murong Wan began to fulfill her promise to help Qin Lin observe people.
She observed every move of Su Han, Yun Shu, and Bai Zhi every day, recorded it in her mind, and told Qin Lin at night.
"Su Han Cultivates until the early hours of the morning every day and gets up at five o'clock to continue Cultivating. She doesn't trust anyone, including you, but she doesn't harm people."
"Yun Shu talks a lot, but she doesn't speak recklessly. The questions she asks are all about The Ark, not about people. She is getting to know this ship; perhaps she is looking for a way out for herself."
"Bai Zhi is the simplest; she just wants to live and have a place to settle down. The Ark has given her this, and she will cherish it."
After listening, Qin Lin nodded.
"Auntie Wan, you really are my strategist."
Murong Wan looked at him.
"I am not your strategist; I am your... never mind, I won't say it."
Qin Lin reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"What are you?"
Murong Wan pressed her face against his chest.
"I don't know. Figure it out yourself."
The secret affair between Qin Lin and Murong Wan continued on The Ark.
Every night, Qin Lin would first go to Murong Xue's room to stay for a while, then go to Murong Wan's room.
The distance from Murong Xue's room to Murong Wan's room was not far, but he would take a long time to walk it.
It wasn't because the road was long, but because he had to wait for Murong Xue to fall asleep. He was afraid she would come out in the middle of the night and see him.
Murong Wan said he was "guilty as a thief," and Qin Lin said, "It's not guilt, it's caution."
Murong Wan's room became his second home.
Her bed had his pillow, her wardrobe had his pajamas, and her vanity had his toothbrush.
Once, when Murong Xue went to her mother's room and saw an extra toothbrush on the toothbrush rack, she asked, "Mom, why are there two toothbrushes in your room?"
Murong Wan remained calm.
"That one is a spare; I was afraid you might forget to bring yours."
Murong Xue did not suspect anything and left.
Qin Lin poked his head out from behind the wardrobe and looked at Murong Wan.
Murong Wan glared at him.
"Next time, put your toothbrush away."
Qin Lin laughed.
"Where do you want me to put it? In my pocket?" Murong Wan ignored him.
One night, Qin Lin spent the night in Murong Wan's room.
In the middle of the night, footsteps came from the hallway—very light, but both of them heard them.
Murong Wan's body stiffened, and Qin Lin pressed her hand.
The footsteps got closer and closer, then stopped.
There was a knock on the door twice, very lightly.
"Mom, are you asleep?" Murong Xue's voice.
Murong Wan took a deep breath. "I'm asleep. What's the matter?"
"I can't sleep; I want to chat with you."
Murong Wan glanced at Qin Lin.
Qin Lin had already gotten out of bed, grabbed his clothes, and hid in the wardrobe.
Murong Wan smoothed her hair and opened the door.
Murong Xue stood at the door, wearing a white nightgown, her hair loose, and barefoot.
She walked in and sat on the edge of the bed; Murong Wan closed the door and sat down beside her.
"What's wrong? Did you hit a Bottleneck in your Cultivation again?"
Murong Xue shook her head.
"No, Mom. My mind has been very chaotic lately."
Murong Wan held her hand.
"What's chaotic?"
Murong Xue was silent for a moment.
"Qin Lin, he always comes to see me at night recently, stays for a while, and then leaves. I ask him where he's going, and he says he's going to look at the star map, but I always feel like he's lying to me."
Murong Wan's hand trembled slightly.
"Perhaps he really is looking at the star map."
Murong Xue looked at her.
"Mom, are you hiding something from me?"
