92: Chapter 92 Are you still okay?
It was a long night.
For Qin Lin and Han Qing, time lost all meaning.
The RV's soundproofing System completely isolated Room 000 from the outside world.
Everything that happened inside became a secret belonging only to the two of them.
And, of course, Su Yuran.
Han Qing was Han Qing after all; though many years had passed, it wasn't as if she understood nothing.
It was just that because the person she was facing was Qin Lin, she was a little nervous.
She discovered that her foot injury had actually mostly healed.
Though there was still a slight pain when walking.
"Will you wear it?"
"It's... it's too much," she whispered.
It wasn't a complete refusal, but more like a bewildered, coquettish act—a posture of trust that handed the decision-making power to the other person.
"Just try it, I want to see."
Qin Lin's voice carried a coaxing tone, his gaze burning.
His fingers gently brushed through her hair as he waited patiently.
In those eyes, there was unmistakable desire, but also a cherishing of her reaction.
Han Qing bit her lip, hesitating for a long time.
The strings of reason were taut, and her sense of identity as an elder was pulling at her.
However, in some corner of her heart, a strange, guilt-ridden sweetness welled up because of this "willful request."
The hesitant silence spread in the dim light, appearing to last for a very long time.
Finally, she gave a very slight, almost imperceptible nod.
She immediately closed her eyes, as if not looking could reduce her bashfulness by a few degrees.
It wasn't a straightforward agreement, but more of a tacit consent.
A trembling courage that had been surrendered.
Qin Lin's eyes lit up.
"And this."
He continued to whisper, making another small "request."
His voice carried the excitement of exploration and extreme patience.
This time, Han Qing didn't say it was too much again.
She simply gave her answer through silence.
Qin Lin naturally understood this silent language, responding to this gift with immense cherish.
That night, they seemed to be exploring an unfamiliar Secret Realm.
Words became scarce; there were more exchanges of glances and the intertwining of breaths.
The water glass on the nightstand was emptied and then refilled by someone unknown.
The sound of the shower in the bathroom occasionally rang out; perhaps the warm stream washed away more than just fatigue.
Until the deep ink-black inside the RV began to be permeated by a faint grayish-blue.
Physical and mental strength finally reached their limits before they fell into a deep sleep.
Han Qing slept exceptionally soundly.
This was the most peaceful and secure night she had slept since the frozen Apocalypse began.
...
In the morning, the intelligent Systems inside the RV started up in sequence.
Simulated natural morning light softly flooded the common area.
Su Yuran was the first to wake up. She subconsciously caressed her lower abdomen, feeling the life quietly gestating within, and after confirming all was well, she got up for a simple wash.
As she walked out of her room, her gaze naturally swept over the closed door of Room 000.
The indicator light by the door steadily displayed "Do Not Disturb," meaning the door was locked from the inside.
A knowing and gentle smile appeared at the corners of her mouth. Without stopping, she went straight to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast.
Soon after, Lin Wanwan also walked out of her room.
Seeing Su Yuran's busy figure in the kitchen, she walked over and asked softly:
"Do you need help?"
Then, her gaze involuntarily drifted toward the direction of Room 000, her voice lowering slightly.
"Has Qin Lin... not woken up yet?"
"He's probably still resting."
Su Yuran answered in a casual tone while handling the ingredients.
"The injured need more sleep to recover their Origin Qi, and Aunt Qing is probably tired out too."
Her words carried a double meaning as she looked at Lin Wanwan with clear eyes.
Lin Wanwan nodded, but an unmaskable trace of disappointment flickered in her eyes.
She hadn't actually slept well last night; in her tossing and turning, she seemed to hear some faint sounds.
The coincidence of timing, along with a woman's natural intuition, made her vaguely guess the story that might have happened in the room next door.
She had long understood that the increasingly obvious tension between Qin Lin and Han Qing would eventually have a moment of release.
From Qin Lin's attitude after Han Qing was injured, and from many subtle interactions, she had already been mentally prepared.
However, when the conjecture became fact, those sour bubbles in her heart still rose uncontrollably.
It wasn't jealousy, but more like a... loneliness from being left behind.
"Senior Wanwan."
Su Yuran keenly captured her emotions.
Putting down what was in her hands, she walked over and gently held Lin Wanwan's slightly cool hand.
"Don't think too much. Qin Lin has you in his heart, in a very important position. We all know this, and you should believe it too."
"I know."
Lin Wanwan squeezed her hand back and forced a smile, one that appeared somewhat fragile.
"I just feel like... at a time like this, I haven't been able to help him with anything, but instead I'm always being taken care of."
There was a hint of self-reproach in her voice, and a touch of melancholy regarding her own "sense of helplessness."
"Soon."
Su Yuran suddenly leaned in closer, her voice even lower.
It carried a playful certainty, like sisters sharing a secret.
"I can feel it; next, it should be your turn."
Her eyes were warm and full of encouragement.
"You aren't a burden, Senior Wanwan. You just haven't reached your own most suitable timing yet. What you give him is something no one else can replace."
Lin Wanwan's cheeks flushed instantly, as if her deepest thoughts had been exposed. She frantically looked away, her heartbeat suddenly losing its rhythm.
"Yuran!"
She whispered a reproach, but said nothing more.
Only, that trace of disappointment was diluted significantly by a thick sense of bashfulness and a faint hint of expectation.
At that moment, the door to room 003 opened.
Han Yurou walked out rubbing her sleepy eyes. Seeing the two in the kitchen, she gave a huge yawn:
"Morning, Sister Yuran, Sister Wanwan!"
She looked around and asked casually:
"Where's my mom? And Brother Lin, have they not gotten up yet?"
Su Yuran and Lin Wanwan quickly exchanged a glance.
Su Yuran's expression remained normal. While turning back to continue serving the porridge, she answered in the most natural tone possible:
"Aunt Qing? She's in Wanwan's room. I wasn't feeling very well last night, so Aunt Qing came over to take care of me. We ended up chatting quite late, so she just stayed over at Wanwan's place."
Her lie was incredibly smooth, as if it were the simple truth.
Lin Wanwan also immediately understood and hurriedly nodded to supplement:
"Yeah, Qin Lin... he should have gone back to his own room to rest. After all, he has injuries and needs quiet."
This explanation was reasonable and without flaw.
Han Yurou gave an "oh" and didn't suspect a thing.
Her mother taking care of the pregnant Su Yuran was perfectly normal.
"So my mom is still sleeping? I'll go wake her up for breakfast!"
Saying that, she made to walk toward Lin Wanwan's room.
"Don't."
Su Yuran quickly called out to stop her, her tone gentle but carrying an unquestionable consideration.
"Let Aunt Qing sleep a bit longer. She definitely didn't rest well last night. We can just prepare breakfast ourselves; she'll wake up naturally once she's had enough sleep. You come over and eat first."
Only Lin Wanwan understood the true meaning behind Su Yuran's phrase "definitely didn't rest well."
The heat that had just faded from her face began to rise again.
Meanwhile, Han Yurou was entirely immersed in her simple way of thinking; she felt Su Yuran was right.
Taking care of people was hard work for her mom, so she should indeed sleep more.
"Alright."
She shrugged and obediently sat down at the dining table.
Lin Wanwan placed a bowl of steaming porridge in front of Han Yurou, and the three of them sat together to begin their meal.
The atmosphere at the dining table had a subtle balance.
Han Yurou was as lively as ever, chattering about the dream she had last night and her vague ideas for today's activities.
Su Yuran listened with a smile, occasionally responding with a few words.
She distributed the peeled eggs to her and Lin Wanwan.
Lin Wanwan was relatively quiet, taking small sips of her porridge, her thoughts seemingly drifted elsewhere.
"Oh, right."
Han Yurou suddenly remembered something and looked up to ask:
"How is Brother Lin's injury today? Can he come out for activities? I wanted to show him the... um, things I just learned."
She almost let slip about how she had been asking Qin Lin questions and learning things randomly, but she glossed over it in time.
"He should be much better, but it takes a hundred days for bones and tendons to heal. It's safer to rest for another day. Let's just let him stay in his room today."
"Then can I go to his room to see him later? Just for a little bit!"
Han Yurou's eyes were sparkling, full of concern and expectation.
She made no attempt to hide her reliance on and closeness to Qin Lin.
