168: Chapter 168 Two people meet the mission criteria

Qin Lin looked at her, completely bewildered.

He controlled the RV System; what kind of benefit could Su Yuran possibly give him?

But seeing her acting so mysterious, he didn't press her further.

“Fine, then I'll wait.”

Su Yuran stood up and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Then I'm off. You go ahead and keep enjoying yourself.”

She walked away with elegant strides, leaving Qin Lin sitting there alone, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Over the next few days, the atmosphere inside the RV underwent a subtle change.

The most obvious change was with Han Qing and Han Yurou.

The relationship between the two seemed to have transformed overnight.

Though they had been close before, there had always been a certain layer of estrangement.

But now, that estrangement had vanished.

They would lean against each other on the sofa to watch movies, heads touching like a pair of best friends.

They would go to the second-floor viewing platform together to soak up the sun, wearing matching swimsuits in different colors and applying sunscreen to one another.

They would cook in the kitchen together, with Han Qing manning the stove and Han Yurou assisting; their coordination was as seamless as partners of many years.

Yet sometimes, they would revert to being mother and daughter.

For instance, when Han Yurou acted spoiled, she would call out, “Mommy, hug me.”

Han Qing would open her arms, pull her into her embrace, and gently pat her back as if coaxing a small child.

Or when Han Qing was tired, Han Yurou would give her a massage, saying “Mommy, you've worked hard” while she pressed.

That feeling was both like sisters and like mother and daughter—unique and heartwarming.

Watching them always made Qin Lin feel warm inside.

And the rapport between him and them also grew stronger.

Sometimes, he would spend the night in Bedroom No. 003.

That night, just as he had finished showering and returned to 000, there was a knock at the door.

Opening the door, he saw Han Yurou standing there in a white nightgown, her hair draped over her shoulders and her eyes bright.

“Brother Lin, Mommy sent me to get you.”

Qin Lin smiled.

“Get me to go where?”

“To 003, of course,” Han Yurou said as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “We're waiting for you.”

Qin Lin looked at her, his heart stirred.

“Alright.”

He followed Han Yurou to 003.

Pushing open the door, he saw Han Qing leaning against the headboard in a light blue silk nightgown, holding a book. When she saw him enter, a gentle smile appeared on her face.

“You're here?”

“Mhm.”

Qin Lin sat down by the bed, and Han Yurou immediately burrowed into the covers, leaning against his side.

Han Qing also put down her book and leaned over.

The three of them just lay there, chatting, watching movies, and playing games. There were occasional small gestures, but no one crossed that final line.

That feeling was more moving than any intense physical contact.

Sometimes, they would come to 000 together.

That night, just as Qin Lin had lain down, there was a knock at the door.

Opening it, he saw Han Qing and Han Yurou standing at the entrance—one in a dark green nightgown and the other in pink, like two different beautiful vistas.

“We couldn't sleep and were bored, so we came to chat with you.”

Qin Lin smiled and stepped aside.

“Come in.”

The mother and daughter walked in and naturally lay down on his bed, one on each side.

“What should we talk about?”

“Just whatever, anything is fine.”

And so the three of them began to talk.

They talked about childhood, about the days before the apocalypse, and about life on the RV.

As they talked, Han Yurou fell asleep.

Han Qing looked at her and chuckled softly.

“This child is becoming more and more of a sleeper.”

Qin Lin also smiled.

“As long as she's happy.”

Han Qing looked at him with a gentle gaze.

“Qin Lin, thank you... for being so good to us.”

Qin Lin reached out and gently caressed her face.

Han Qing leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

Looking at the people in his arms, a strange sense of satisfaction welled up in Qin Lin's heart.

This feeling was truly wonderful.

Sometimes, they would also come one after the other.

For instance, that night, just as Qin Lin had lain down, Han Yurou arrived first.

“Mommy will be here in a bit.”

Qin Lin looked at her.

“Then what are you doing here?”

Han Yurou blinked.

“To keep you company.”

She slid into the covers, leaning against him, her hands starting to get restless.

Qin Lin caught her hand.

“Don't be in such a hurry, wait for her.”

Han Yurou pouted.

“Then when is she coming?”

Just as she spoke, there was a knock at the door.

Han Yurou laughed.

“She's here.”

Qin Lin went to open the door. Han Qing was standing there with two glasses of warm milk in her hands.

“I brought you both some milk.”

Qin Lin took the milk and let her in.

Seeing that Han Yurou was already in bed, Han Qing smiled.

“You little girl, you certainly ran here fast.”

Han Yurou said giggling, “I just couldn't wait.”

Once the milk was finished, the lights were turned off.

In the darkness.

...

No one spoke, but that unspoken understanding was already deep in their bones.

Days like this continued for several days.

Qin Lin didn't know what to call this, but he knew he liked it.

He liked the feeling of being with them.

He liked the special relationship between them.

He liked the way they looked at him.

The apocalypse was still ongoing, but inside this RV, life was wonderful.

...

This morning, while Qin Lin was in the Drivers Cabin, a notification sound suddenly rang out.

【System Detection: Human settlement found approximately 10km ahead】

【Analysis: Safe zone, non-extreme climate area】

【Detected people meeting the rating standards: 2 persons】

【Coordinates marked. Suggest proceeding to receive them】

Qin Lin's eyes lit up.

A safe zone?

This was the first time a safe zone had been detected.

He pulled up the detailed data.

【Target Area: Small survivor settlement】

【Scale: Approximately 2,000-3,000 people】

【Environment: Temperature 28°C-32°C, no obvious extreme climate】

【Organization: Preliminary social structure formed, simple management in place】

【Threat Assessment: Low】

【Target Passenger Information:】

【Rating: Meets mission standards (detailed detection required upon approach)】

Looking at this information, Qin Lin fell into thought.

The existence of a safe zone meant that it wasn't all just apocalyptic wasteland.

Some areas had indeed formed relatively stable environments where people could survive normally.

This was good news for them.

At the very least, it meant Su Yuran's parents and Lin Wanwan's parents might be in such a safe zone.

He called Su Yuran over and showed her the information.

After reading it, Su Yuran's eyes also lit up.

“A safe zone? They really exist?”

“The System detected it, so it's definitely correct. It's to the south and on our way, so let's go check it out.”

Su Yuran nodded.

“Let's go. Maybe we can find... some clues about my parents while we're at it.”

Qin Lin took her hand.

“We will.”

Su Yuran leaned against his shoulder.

The two of them embraced for a while before Su Yuran looked up.

“What do you plan to do about the female passengers who meet the criteria?”

Qin Lin thought for a moment.

“We'll see how it goes. If they're willing to come aboard, we'll take them. If not, I won't force them.”

Su Yuran nodded.

“Then it's settled.”

...

Over the next few days, the RV continued south, heading toward the safe zone.

This period became a 'quiet phase' on the vehicle.

With no threat of extreme weather and no urgent missions, everyone was very relaxed.

The second-floor viewing platform became the liveliest place.

Lin Wanwan and Xu Xue, the two pregnant women, often lay on lounge chairs sunbathing, occasionally discussing parenting tips.

Li Ying would read nearby, occasionally chiming in with a few words that would make the two of them blush.

Su Yuran would sometimes come up as well to chat with everyone.

Not to mention Han Qing and Han Yurou, who spent almost every day on the platform.

Swimming, sunbathing, and eating fruit—they lived a leisurely and carefree life.
