141: Chapter 141 Caught in the act

Qin Lin was stunned. "Another way?"

Han Qing didn't answer.

She simply reached out and gently unbuttoned his jacket.

Qin Lin's heart skipped a beat.

"Aunt Qing, you..."

"Don't speak."

Han Qing whispered, her face completely flushed.

"Yu Rou is still showering. Let's... be quick."

Qin Lin understood.

He looked at Han Qing, a warm current surging in his heart.

This 37-year-old woman was clearly dying of embarrassment, yet she was still willing to do this for him...

"Aunt Qing, thank you."

Han Qing glared at him. "Don't thank me, just hurry up."

Qin Lin smiled.

...

The sound of water was still splashing in the communal bathroom.

In Bedroom No. 003, the lights were dim.

The two gradually became immersed in their own world.

They completely forgot that this was Bedroom No. 003, not Bedroom No. 000.

Moreover, Han Yurou could come out at any moment.

In the communal bathroom, Han Yurou turned off the faucet and let out a long sigh of relief.

A hot bath felt truly comfortable.

She dried her body, wrapped herself in a bath towel, and looked at herself in the mirror.

Her 18-year-old body was full of youth, with fair skin, a slender waist, and long legs.

She suddenly thought of how her mother looked in a Cheongsam.

That kind of mature charm was something she couldn't imitate.

"Sigh!"

She sighed and made a face at the mirror.

"Yu Rou, oh Yu Rou, when will you grow up a bit more and be as charming as Mom?"

The girl in the mirror rolled her eyes at her.

Han Yurou smiled, picked up her changed clothes, and walked out of the bathroom.

The hallway was very quiet.

She tiptoed toward Bedroom No. 003, afraid of waking her already sleeping mother.

Reaching the door, she reached out and pushed it open.

She pushed the door open and stepped inside.

And then—

She froze.

Inside were two people, one tall and one short.

The tall one was Brother Lin, and the short one was her mother.

Her mother's hair was disheveled, and her face was so red it looked like it was about to bleed.

Brother Lin stood there, his movements frozen in mid-air as if someone had pressed the pause button.

Three pairs of eyes met.

Time seemed to freeze.

Han Yurou opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but she couldn't make a sound.

Her mind went blank.

She could only stand there blankly, watching the scene.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

The sound of water from the bathroom was still echoing in her ears.

But she had clearly turned it off.

It was a ringing in her ears.

Han Yurou finally reacted, her face instantly turning beet red.

But she didn't scream, didn't run away, and didn't cover her eyes.

She just stood there, watching.

As if a Freezing Spell had been cast on her.

Only one thought was spinning wildly in her head:

So... so they... were like this...

Han Qing was the first to react.

She shoved Qin Lin away, frantically pulling up her nightgown as she scrambled to her feet, her face red all the way to her ears.

"Yu... Yu Rou." Her voice was trembling.

"How did you..."

Han Yurou stood at the door, her bath towel wrapped tightly around her, her face as red as a cooked shrimp.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say, "Sorry, I'm in the wrong room."

But this was Bedroom No. 003, her room; she wasn't in the wrong place.

She wanted to say, "Please continue," but how could she say that out loud?

In the end, she could only stand there like a puppet.

Qin Lin also came to his senses.

He quickly tidied himself up, his mind racing.

What should he do? What should he say? How should he explain?

But the facts were right there; there was no way to explain.

They were simply doing that.

They had been caught red-handed.

Bedroom No. 003.

Han Yurou's room.

Han Yurou had just returned from her shower.

How could he have forgotten that?

He had really let his urges take over and ignored everything. The door wasn't even locked.

"Cough, cough."

Qin Lin cleared his throat, trying to make his voice sound a bit more normal.

"Uh... Yu Rou, I... I came to talk to Aunt Qing about something."

Han Yurou looked at him with a complex expression.

Talk about something?

Did this count as "talking"?

I'll remember that.

Qin Lin also knew this excuse was too lame, but there was no better one right now.

"I'm done talking."

He pushed on awkwardly:

"I'm leaving now. You... you two should sleep early."

He stood up and walked toward the door as naturally as possible.

When he passed by Han Yurou, he paused, wanting to say something, but ultimately said nothing.

Open the door, go out, close the door.

The actions were done in one smooth motion.

In the hallway, Qin Lin leaned against the wall and let out a long breath.

This was too embarrassing.

He had never been this embarrassed in his entire life.

He had lived for twenty years and had been reborn once.

To be caught red-handed...

He covered his face and wailed silently.

Inside Bedroom No. 003, the atmosphere was even more bizarre.

After Qin Lin left, the door closed.

Only the mother and daughter, Han Qing and Han Yurou, remained in the room.

One sat on the bed, her nightgown in disarray, her face whiter than the snow outside.

One stood at the door, wrapped in a bath towel, her face redder than a ripe strawberry.

The two looked at each other, neither knowing what to say.

Silence.

A long silence.

Finally, Han Yurou moved.

She slowly walked to her bedside and sat down, her bath towel wrapped tightly around her.

Then, with her head lowered, she whispered:

"Mom, are you two... going to continue?"

Han Qing's face turned even whiter.

"Yu Rou," her voice was raspy.

"It's not what you saw..."

She still wanted to make an excuse.

"Then what was it?"

Han Yurou looked up at her.

"Mom, I saw everything."

Han Qing opened her mouth but couldn't speak.

Right, she saw everything.

What else was there to explain?

She lowered her head, her fingers tightly clutching the collar of her nightgown.

"Yu Rou," she said softly, "I'm sorry."

Han Yurou was taken aback.

"Sorry for what?"

"Sorry... for letting you see this."

Han Qing's voice was very soft, tinged with a sob.

Han Yurou looked at her.

She watched her mother with her head down, shoulders trembling slightly, like a child who had done something wrong.

"Mom."

Han Qing didn't look up.

"Mom, look at me."

Han Qing slowly raised her head.

Her eyes were red, tears welling up, but she forced them back.

Han Yurou looked at her and suddenly smiled.

"Mom, why are you crying?"

Han Qing was stunned.

"I..."

"I'm not blaming you."

Han Qing was dumbfounded.

"You don't blame me?"

"Blame you for what?"

Han Yurou countered, "Blame you for being with Brother Lin? But you were already together; it's not like I didn't know."

She paused, her voice getting a bit quieter.

"Didn't I already know? You told me yourself."

Han Qing looked at her, momentarily speechless.

"Mom, is 'I'm sorry' all you can say?"

Han Yurou stood up, walked over to her, and sat down beside her.

"Don't cry, okay? If you cry, I'll want to cry too."

Han Qing looked at her, and through her teary vision, she saw that her daughter's eyes were also red.

But her daughter was smiling.

"Mom." Han Yurou took her hand.

"I really don't blame you. This is the apocalypse; everyone has to survive. Brother Lin is good to us, protects us, and gives us food and a place to stay. Isn't it normal for us to give something in return?"

Han Qing was stunned.

"Were these really words coming from her daughter?"}],
