269: Chapter 269 Special Signal Fluctuations
Inside the Drivers Cabin.
Su Yuling, who was following behind, called out again: "Hubby."
Qin Lin turned back: "What's wrong?"
"I missed you."
Qin Lin laughed: "We've only been apart for less than a minute."
"I miss you even for a minute."
"Yuling, is there something on your mind today?"
Su Yuling looked up at him: "No, I just want to stay with you for a while."
Qin Lin looked at her; her eyes were very clear and serious.
"Alright, then you stay here."
Su Yuling smiled, walked over to the passenger seat, sat down, and watched Qin Lin operate the console.
"Hubby, what are all these buttons for?"
Qin Lin explained them to her one by one.
Su Yuling listened very attentively, asking a few questions from time to time.
In the afternoon, Qin Lin ran into Su Yuran in the hallway.
She was leaning against the wall, holding a book in her hand, but she clearly wasn't reading it.
Hearing footsteps, she looked up and saw Qin Lin.
"Finished with your work?"
Qin Lin nodded: "Mm."
Su Yuran closed the book and looked at him: "Qin Lin, I want to talk to you."
Qin Lin walked over: "Mm."
Su Yuran looked at him with a serious gaze: "I wanted to say, you guys have finally started."
Qin Lin was stunned for a moment: "I know you don't object."
"It's not just that I don't object," Su Yuran interrupted him, "I'm saying, I want to join too."
Qin Lin's heart rate accelerated.
Su Yuran continued: "You know, it's too boring on the RV."
Her voice was very soft, but very serious.
Qin Lin reached out and pulled her into his arms.
Su Yuran leaned against his chest and closed her eyes.
"Qin Lin," she said softly.
"Mm?"
"Will you be good to my mom?"
"I will."
"Will you be good to Yuling?"
"I will."
Su Yuran smiled and looked up at him: "Then that's enough."
The two hugged in the hallway for a while before parting.
Su Yuran looked at him with a gentle gaze: "Tonight, I'll come to the Third Floor."
Qin Lin nodded: "Okay."
That night, Qin Lin was on the Third Floor.
Su Yuling and Li Ran were already there, sitting on the sofa, talking about something unknown.
Seeing Qin Lin enter, Su Yuling stood up and lunged over: "Hubby!"
Qin Lin caught her: "You're here?"
Su Yuling nodded and turned to look at Li Ran: "Mom, Daddy is here."
Li Ran stood up, her face flushing slightly.
Qin Lin walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Li Ran closed her eyes, the corners of her mouth curling up.
Just as the three sat down, there was a knock at the door.
Qin Lin went over to open it.
Su Yuran stood at the door wearing a white nightgown, her belly already quite prominent, her hair loose, with a faint smile on her face.
"I'm here to join you."
Su Yuran walked in and looked at her mother and sister.
Li Ran's face turned red.
Su Yuling laughed and patted the spot next to her: "Sis, over here."
Su Yuran took off her slippers and lay down next to Su Yuling.
One bed, the atmosphere was subtle.
Li Ran's whole body was stiff, not daring to move.
Su Yuran, on the other hand, was very relaxed; she lay down and quietly closed her eyes.
"Mom, what are you nervous about?"
Li Ran's voice trembled: "N-nothing."
Su Yuran smiled, turned on her side, and looked at Li Ran.
"Mom, don't be nervous, it's not like I'm going to eat you."
Li Ran didn't know what to say.
She had already experienced the awkwardness once last night, and now she had to go through it again in front of her eldest daughter.
It was really hard for her.
Su Yuran reached out and took Li Ran's hand.
Su Yuran's voice was very soft: "I said, as long as you're happy, it's fine. Now that you're happy, I'm happy too."
Li Ran's tears began to fall.
"Yuran..." her voice choked up.
Su Yuran smiled, leaned in, and gave Li Ran a kiss on the cheek.
"Mom, goodnight."
Li Ran looked at her, tears still flowing, but the corners of her mouth turned up.
"Goodnight," she said softly.
The room was very quiet, with only the sounds of breathing and heartbeats.
Just as the four were drifting off to sleep, the System notification sound suddenly rang out.
[Detected special signal fluctuation ahead]
[Source: Unknown]
[Distance: Approximately 80 kilometers]
[Suggestion: Proceed to investigate]
Qin Lin opened his eyes and frowned.
Special signal fluctuation?
He checked the System data.
A point of light appeared on the screen, about 80 kilometers to the northwest.
The signal was strong, but the type was unknown.
It wasn't a crystal stone mineral vein, nor was it a metal deposit.
Qin Lin thought for a bit and decided to go check it out tomorrow.
He returned to the bed and lay down.
Su Yuling leaned over and hugged his arm.
Qin Lin stroked her head: "It's nothing, go to sleep."
Su Yuling gave an "Mm" and closed her eyes.
Qin Lin looked at the ceiling, thinking about that signal.
What was it?
A new mineral deposit?
Or other survivors?
Or perhaps a new danger?
He didn't know.
But he knew that no matter what it was, he had to go see.
In the apocalypse, opportunity and danger coexist.
If you don't explore, you'll never know what lies ahead.
That night, they did nothing and simply slept.
...
The next morning, Qin Lin was woken up by the System notification sound.
[Special signal source has moved, current distance: 65 kilometers]
[Signal strength: Stable]
[Suggestion: Investigation can proceed]
Qin Lin opened his eyes and checked the time.
Seven in the morning.
He got up quietly, not waking Su Yuling or Li Ran beside him.
Su Yuran's breathing was even; she wasn't awake yet either.
Qin Lin went into the bathroom, finished washing up, changed his clothes, and went downstairs.
In the living room, Han Qing was already there, preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
She was wearing a cream-white loungewear set, her hair tied up casually, looking very domestic.
"Up so early?" Han Qing asked when she saw him.
Qin Lin nodded: "The System detected a special signal, I want to go check it out early."
Han Qing glanced at him: "Is it dangerous?"
"I don't know, I'll only know once I go look."
Han Qing didn't ask further; she poured him a glass of water and handed it over.
Qin Lin took the glass and took a sip.
"Aunt Qing," he called her.
"Mm?"
"Do you think... the family on the RV is getting bigger and bigger?"
Han Qing smiled: "Why bring this up all of a sudden?"
Qin Lin thought for a moment: "I just feel like as there are more people, the responsibility also gets heavier."
Han Qing walked over, stood beside him, and leaned against his shoulder.
"The responsibility is heavier, but you aren't alone," she said. "You have us."
Qin Lin reached out and wrapped his arm around her shoulder: "Thank you, Aunt Qing."
Han Qing smiled: "No need for thanks."
The two stood quietly for a while until footsteps came from upstairs.
Su Yuling came down, wearing pajamas, her hair messy and her feet bare.
"Hubby!" Seeing Qin Lin, she ran over and lunged into his arms, "Why didn't you wake me?"
Qin Lin held her: "You were sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to wake you."
Su Yuling pouted: "Wake me up next time."
Qin Lin laughed: "Okay."
Li Ran also followed down, wearing a light blue loungewear set, her hair loose, her face still showing traces of sleepiness.
She saw Qin Lin and Su Yuling hugging, and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.
Su Yuran came last, wearing a white nightgown, looking quite refreshed.
"Morning."
Qin Lin nodded: "Morning."
The whole family was gathered in the kitchen.
Han Qing smiled as she watched this scene.
She turned back to continue preparing breakfast, leaving the space to them.
After breakfast, Qin Lin returned to the Drivers Cabin and pulled up the System data.
