278: Chapter 278 Technology Has Regressed
Qin Lin didn't answer, but everyone was laughing.
The laughter drifted into the night sky, blending with the starlight, moonlight, and the chirping of insects.
Qin Lin leaned back in his chair, watching the women sitting together in a circle.
The moonlight shone on their faces, and everyone had a different expression.
Some were smiling, some were quiet, some had their heads lowered, and some were looking at the stars.
But he knew that their hearts were all here.
On this meadow, in this Paradise, beside this RV.
His home.
...
A few more days passed, and life was as calm as a lake.
Every day followed a similar rhythm.
In the morning, Qin Lin would take people to explore the woods; they would return for lunch at noon, do their own things in the afternoon, and sit together to watch the stars at night.
No one felt bored, and no one felt annoyed.
That evening, as the sun was about to set, Li Ying found Qin Lin.
"Brother Qin Lin, accompany me for a walk," she said, her tone as casual as if she were saying, "The weather is nice today."
Qin Lin was weeding the vegetable patch; he looked up at her: "Where to?"
Li Ying pointed to the woods behind the RV: "Over there, I haven't been yet."
Qin Lin stood up and brushed the dirt off his hands: "Alright."
The two of them walked toward the woods.
Li Ying walked in front, moving quickly, with Qin Lin following behind.
The sunset's afterglow spilled through the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground.
After walking for about ten minutes, Li Ying stopped and turned to look at Qin Lin.
Her eyes had changed; it was no longer the usual lazy, casual smile, but something… eager.
"Why did you stop?"
Li Ying didn't speak; she walked over, threw herself at him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her whole body against him.
"I've been holding back for several days; you can't run away tonight," she said, her voice right by his ear, her breath against his neck.
Qin Lin was stunned: "You're pregnant right now."
Li Ying looked up at him, fire in her eyes: "My body is fine. Having had my Physique improved so many times by the RV System, and with it constantly improving my body, what is there to fear? Besides, it's not the first time."
Qin Lin was speechless.
It was indeed not the first time; she hadn't been any less restless even when she was pregnant before.
"Aren't you afraid it will be bad for the baby?"
Li Ying laughed: "It's not like you don't know; the RV System has protection, and it has no effect on the fetus. You just don't want to."
Qin Lin sighed and reached out to hold her waist.
Li Ying smiled and stood on tiptoe to kiss him.
The two of them stayed in the woods for a long time.
The sunset fell, the moon rose, and the stars lit up one by one.
Li Ying leaned against a large tree, panting, her face flushed red.
Qin Lin stood in front of her, his hands resting on the tree trunk on either side of her head.
"Satisfied?" Qin Lin asked.
Li Ying smiled and reached out to touch his face: "It's alright, but your skills have regressed since we last did it."
Qin Lin didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "Your standards are really high."
Li Ying tugged at his collar, pulling him closer, and whispered in his ear: "If you regress again next time, I'm dumping you."
Qin Lin laughed: "Then should I leave now?"
Li Ying grabbed him: "You dare."
The two stayed in the woods for a while longer before slowly walking back.
When they walked out of the woods, the moonlight was bright, and the meadow was silvery white.
Xu Xue and Xia Qiuyan were sitting on a rock beside the RV, holding sketchpads in their hands, but they were clearly not drawing.
They were stunned for a moment when they saw Qin Lin and Li Ying come out of the woods.
Li Ying was quite composed and waved at them: "What are you drawing?"
Xu Xue came back to her senses, her face turning slightly red: "Nothing… nothing at all."
Xia Qiuyan lowered her head, her fingers twisting the corner of her shirt.
Qin Lin glanced at the two of them but didn't speak.
The panic in Xu Xue's eyes slowly turned into calm, and even a hint of longing.
She lowered her head and drew a few strokes on the sketchpad; she was drawing the woods under the moonlight.
Returning to the RV, Lin Wanwan was sitting on the sofa, holding that light blue baby outfit in her hands.
The sweater was finally finished.
Seeing Qin Lin come in, she stood up, her face slightly flushed: "Qin Lin."
Qin Lin walked over: "What's wrong?"
Lin Wanwan handed him the baby outfit, head lowered, her voice very soft: "The sweater is finished, take a look… does it look good?"
Qin Lin took the baby outfit and unfolded it to look.
It was light blue, with fine, dense stitches, a small lace trim around the collar, and a tiny sun embroidered on the chest.
He didn't know how to knit, but he could tell it was made with great care.
"It looks great, you've worked hard."
Lin Wanwan looked up: "Really?"
Qin Lin nodded: "Really."
"We'll have him wear it when the baby is born."
Qin Lin patted her head: "Okay."
Lin Wanwan lowered her head, the corners of her mouth curled high.
Wang Xiulan came out of the kitchen, saw the two standing together, and smiled.
"Wanwan, is the sweater finished?"
Lin Wanwan nodded: "Mm."
Wang Xiulan walked over, picked up the baby outfit to look at it, and said: "This little lace trim is embroidered so well; you learned it after just one lesson from me."
Lin Wanwan blushed: "I practiced several times before I got it right."
Wang Xiulan folded the baby outfit and placed it back in Lin Wanwan's hands: "When the baby is born, let him wear this and take a photo."
Lin Wanwan nodded, holding the baby outfit in her arms as if she were holding a real baby.
That night, everyone sat around on the meadow to watch the stars as usual.
The moonlight was bright, the stars were numerous, and the chirping of insects was loud.
Su Yuran was lying on a lounge chair, a book in her hand, but she wasn't reading it.
Moonlight spilled onto the meadow, stretching everyone's shadows long.
Qin Lin leaned back against the chair, looking at the starry sky above.
The stars were dense, like a handful of scattered crushed diamonds, twinkling in the firmament.
Su Yuling leaned on his shoulder, her breathing steady; she had already fallen asleep.
Li Ran sat next to him, her head resting on his shoulder, and she also closed her eyes.
Han Yurou lay on Han Qing's lap, sleeping like a little kitten.
Lin Wanwan hugged the baby outfit, leaning on Wang Xiulan's shoulder, the corners of her mouth curled up.
Li Ying lay on the meadow, limbs spread out, emitting a slight snoring sound.
Xu Xue and Xia Qiuyan leaned against the easel, the two of them leaning against each other, asleep.
Zhou Lingling and Zhou Yueyue lay on the meadow, holding hands; the moonlight shone on their faces, like two statues.
Lin Fang and Lin Xiaoyue leaned against the RV; Lin Xiaoyue was hugging Lin Fang's arm, and Lin Fang's head was resting on Lin Xiaoyue's head.
Su Yuran lay alone on the lounge chair, still holding the book, but her eyes were closed.
Han Qing held a teacup, watching all of this, the corners of her mouth slightly curled.
Qin Lin watched them, and a strange feeling welled up in his heart.
This Paradise had no apocalypse, no disaster, no fear.
Only blue skies and white clouds, green mountains and clear waters, the fragrance of flowers and the singing of birds, and a group of women willing to follow him.
He looked down at Su Yuling; the corners of her mouth were curled up, as if she were having a sweet dream.
He turned his head to look at Li Ran; her face in the moonlight was very quiet, very gentle.
He looked up at the sky.
The sun and the moon hung in the sky, very bright, very close.
Under the moonlight, on the meadow, a group of people slept quietly.
The protective shield of the RV shimmered with a faint light, like a lamp that would never go out.
The chirping of insects rose and fell, and the night breeze blew gently, carrying the scent of flowers and grass.
The apocalypse was still continuing, but here, in this moment, there was no apocalypse, no disaster, no fear.
