335: Chapter 335 Dress Change 1

The kitchen was next to the living room; it wasn't large, but it was fully equipped.

Qing Yue stood in the kitchen, looking at the silver-white, smooth stovetops that bore no traces of firewood, unsure of how to use them.

She remembered what Han Qing had said about "telling the System," and spoke tentatively.

"System… heat milk."

There was no movement in the kitchen. She waited a few seconds and said it again: "System, heat milk."

A mechanical arm extended from the wall, opened the refrigerator, took out a carton of milk, poured it into a cup, and placed it inside a square machine.

The machine beeped a few times, and the mechanical arm took the cup out and placed it on the countertop.

The whole process took less than a minute.

Qing Yue looked at the cup of steaming milk and remained silent for a long time.

She picked up the cup, walked out of the kitchen, and sat down on the sofa in the living room.

The sofa was very soft, softer than any bed she had ever slept on.

She leaned back against the sofa, holding the cup with both hands, and watched the projection of the starry sky on the ceiling.

Those stars were moving slowly, colorful, and unlike the sky outside.

"You can't sleep either?"

Qing Yue turned her head. Su Yuran was walking over from the end of the hallway, wearing a white nightgown with her hair loose.

She sat down beside Qing Yue, not holding Qin An in her arms.

"Is Qin An asleep?" Qing Yue asked.

She had already remembered the little boy's name, because he was the child on The Ark who called "Mom" the most often.

"He's asleep. It was hard to coax him to sleep. He refused to sleep today and insisted on hearing stories. I had to read three picture books before he finally fell asleep."

Qing Yue didn't ask what a "picture book" was. Over the past few days, she had accumulated too many questions—so many that she didn't know where to begin asking.

Qing Yue drank the now-cool milk in one gulp, stood up, placed the cup back on the kitchen countertop, and walked back to the hallway.

Qin Lin was no longer in the hallway.

The door numbered 015 was closed quietly.

She glanced at that door and returned to her own room.

Over the next few days, Qing Yue, Hong Yao, and Qing He began to slowly adapt to life on The Ark.

They learned how to use the shower.

The lesson from the first day was profound.

Hong Yao didn't know how to adjust the water temperature and was doused with cold water. She screamed, which scared Qin An in the hallway into crying.

Han Qing came over to help her adjust the water temperature and told her, "The left side is hot water, and the right side is cold water. Turn it a little to the left."

They learned how to use the toilet.

The first time Qing He sat on it, she froze, not knowing how to exert force.

She squatted in the bathroom for a long time, and in the end, she still had to go find Han Qing.

Han Qing patiently taught her how to flush and how to use toilet paper.

They learned how to use the wardrobe.

The wardrobes on The Ark were smart; when opened, they would automatically display the clothes inside.

When Qing Yue opened the wardrobe for the first time, she saw the clothes inside hanging neatly, clearly categorized.

Short sleeves, long sleeves, pants, skirts, underwear, and jackets.

She reached out and touched a white short-sleeved shirt; the fabric was very soft and thin, and it would likely be very cool to wear.

But she didn't put it on and closed the wardrobe.

She wasn't ready yet.

Hong Yao adapted faster than her.

On the third morning, when Qing Yue woke up, she saw Hong Yao standing in front of the mirror, wearing a light pink short-sleeved shirt and a pair of dark blue shorts.

The clothes were given to her by Han Qing, and the size was just right.

She stood in front of the mirror looking left and right, spinning around once, then spinning again.

"Qing Yue, do I look like them?"

Qing Yue looked at her.

Hong Yao's arms and legs were exposed, white and slender, her skin glowing faintly under the lights.

Her hair was still pinned up with a wooden hairpin, which didn't match her modern clothes, but her expression was joyful.

"You do," Qing Yue said.

Hong Yao laughed, spun around again, and ran into the hallway to find Han Yurou.

Qing He was the last one to change.

It wasn't that she didn't want to change; she just felt, "It's embarrassing to wear so little."

Li Ying heard this in the living room, put down what she was holding, and walked over.

"What's there to be embarrassed about? There are no outsiders on The Ark. Besides, aren't you hot wearing long sleeves and long pants?"

Qing He thought about it and shook her head.

She wasn't hot; the temperature inside The Ark was constant, so she wouldn't feel hot regardless of what she wore.

But watching Hong Yao running around the hallway in short sleeves and shorts, she felt that she seemed genuinely happy.

On the fifth day, Qing He changed into a short-sleeved shirt and shorts.

Her legs were very long, even longer than Hong Yao's, and her skin was very white, without a single blemish.

The first time Han Yurou saw her, she exclaimed, "Qing He, your legs are so white!"

Qing He blushed, lowered her head, and didn't know where to look.

Li Ying walked over to take a look and said nothing, but she glanced at Qin Lin.

Qin Lin was in the kitchen preparing formula and didn't see it; Li Ying didn't know if he really didn't see it or was pretending not to.

In reality, Qin Lin had seen it.

His gaze swept over Qing He's legs, lingering for only a second, before he withdrew it and continued preparing the formula.

But the image had already remained in his mind.

Slender, snow-white legs, nourished by Spiritual Qi.

It wasn't intentional; his eyes had captured it on their own.

Qing He's skin was better than Hong Yao's, better than Qing Yue's, and better than most of the women on The Ark.

It wasn't because she used any skincare products, but because of her cultivation.

A Cultivator's body is washed by Spiritual Qi, so their skin naturally becomes better.

Qin Lin handed the bottle to Qin An beside him and thought about something: The skin and bodies of these low-level Cultivators were already better than the effects of the best skincare products on Earth. What would it be like if he encountered a high-level female Cultivator? What about even higher ones?

Qin Lin didn't continue thinking, because Qin An knocked over the bottle.

On the sixth day, Qing Yue changed into a short-sleeved shirt and shorts.

It wasn't because she wanted to change, but because Hong Yao had taken her clothes to wash them.

Hong Yao didn't know how to use the washing machine and threw Qing Yue's clothes into a load of dark-colored laundry, resulting in them being stained.

Qing Yue looked at the dress that had been stained gray-blue and remained silent for a long time.

Han Qing handed her a clean set of clothes: a light blue short-sleeved shirt and white shorts.

"Wear this for now; I'll help you take care of that one."

Qing Yue took the clothes and changed into them.

She walked to the mirror and looked at herself in the reflection.

The neckline of the short-sleeved shirt wasn't large, just enough to reveal her collarbones.

The shorts reached mid-thigh, revealing a portion of her thighs and calves.

Her legs were even longer and whiter than Qing He's, and her skin was so thin that one could see the light blue veins beneath it.

She reached out and touched her own leg, her fingertips brushing against smooth, cool skin.

Hong Yao poked her head out from behind her: "Qing Yue, your legs are even better-looking than Qing He's."

Qing Yue didn't respond and turned to walk out of the room.

In the hallway, Han Yurou was chasing Qin Yue; seeing her, she slowed down.

"Qing Yue! You look so good in shorts!"

Han Yurou's voice echoed in the hallway.

Qin Yue followed her mother and shouted: "Good-looking!"
