11: Chapter 11 I'll listen to you
Bai Wanwan let out a "pfft" laugh. "Never been looked at by a Female? Don't Hu Ya and the others all like you? Aren't you used to being watched yet?"
Xin Feng pressed his lips together. It wasn't that he wasn't used to being looked at. In fact, after his face was injured, even more people looked at him, but mostly with scorn and disdain.
No one had ever been like her, nestled in his arms, smiling as she looked at his ruined face, and still able to say it looked really good.
Bai Wanwan still wanted to tease him a little more when she suddenly heard a roar.
"What was that sound?"
Xin Feng's expression changed drastically. "Hold on tight to me," he instructed her.
As soon as he finished speaking, he tightened his arms and began sprinting down the mountain.
Bai Wanwan twisted her head to look back and saw a half-man-tall "little Black Bear" in hot pursuit.
She had never faced a wild beast directly in her life, and her heart was pounding wildly.
Xin Feng, who had lost his Talent, couldn't match the speed of other Males, and his lean frame was carrying a Bai Wanwan.
Soon, the little Black Bear behind them caught up.
Bai Wanwan was frantic with worry, watching helplessly as the little Black Bear closed the distance and swung its claw at Xin Feng's back.
"Watch out!"
As if he had eyes on his back, Xin Feng dodged to the side, avoiding the little Black Bear's attack.
He quickly set her down and urged her urgently, "Get down the mountain yourself. Hurry!"
If the little Black Bear was here, the mother bear was likely nearby too. It was only a matter of time before they were found.
Xin Feng had no time to say more. He led the little Black Bear away in another direction.
Bai Wanwan didn't even have time to speak to him. Anxious, she thought, "peanut, what do we do now?"
"Host, there is a hunting party about two hundred meters downhill. You can find them and ask for help."
Hearing peanut's words, Bai Wanwan took off running.
Seeing her escape from a distance, Xin Feng breathed a sigh of relief, drew the stone knife from his leg, and began confronting the little Black Bear.
The little Black Bear cautiously moved closer to him, but each time was struck by the stone knife.
It retreated in pain.
He deliberately left openings, keeping it engaged, not letting it go after Bai Wanwan.

Bai Wanwan gritted her teeth, racing against time.
Even back in her school days during P.E. class, she had never pushed herself this hard.
The moment Xin Feng unhesitatingly gave her the chance to survive, she was momentarily stunned.
In Modern Times, men who abandoned their partners in the face of danger were a dime a dozen, yet he had made that decision without a second thought.
Then she absolutely could not let anything happen to Xin Feng.
She clenched her teeth, her expression contorted from the strain of running.
Finally, the two-hundred-meter distance was covered.
She saw the hunting party below, a group of seven or eight Males leaning against trees and chewing on dried meat.
In her panic, Bai Wanwan tripped and tumbled down.
"peanut, protect my stomach."
After instructing peanut, the expected pain didn't come. A strong arm grabbed her wrist and pulled her up gently.
As soon as she steadied herself, Qiu Rong beside her quickly withdrew his hand.
"Bai Wanwan? What are you doing here?"
Bai Wanwan turned her head and met Qiu Rong's gaze.
Bai Wanwan had no time for explanations. Pointing behind her, she said urgently, "There's a Black Bear. Please go save Xin Feng!"
Hearing this, Qiu Rong turned sharply.
"Up the mountain!"
All the beastmen put away their dried meat and rose quickly.
Qiu Rong was about to take off when he suddenly turned to look at a Male beside her. "Bai Shi, you stay by Bai Wanwan's side and protect her."
"Alright."
The others quickly followed Qiu Rong up the mountain, disappearing from sight in the blink of an eye.
Worried, Bai Wanwan couldn't stand still, pacing back and forth.
The Male left behind looked at her distressed face with some surprise.
"You're very worried about Xin Feng?"
Bai Wanwan nodded without thinking. "He drew the Black Bear away to protect me."
"Males are born to protect Females. Even giving his life would be his honor."
"He's my Beast Husband. I don't want anything to happen to him."
These past few days together had been pleasant. He always put her first, making a jaded corporate drone like her, who had sworn off love, begin to feel a thread of affection.
She had genuinely started to like him and didn't want him to face any danger.
After that, she was too worried to speak another word.
She stood on tiptoe from time to time, straining to see.
Finally, the grass in a certain area on the mountain rustled.
The Male beside her immediately pulled her back, adopting a guarded stance.
The patch of grass, as tall as a person, was pushed aside, revealing Qiu Rong's figure, followed by several other beastmen emerging.
Soon, she also saw Xin Feng. He was being carried by two Males.
Bai Wanwan hurried over, relieved but still concerned.
"You scared me to death. Where are you hurt?"
She immediately began carefully checking him over.
Xin Feng blushed a little from her touch.
"Ahem, I'm fine. Just got knocked around a bit. My leg's broken."
"Your leg's broken and you say you're fine? Does it hurt?"
Bai Wanwan felt a pang of heartache, her pretty brows knitting together.
Xin Feng didn't want her to worry about him. He forced a relaxed smile. "I'm really fine. An injury like this will heal in a couple of days of rest."
"No way. A bone injury takes a hundred days to heal properly. You need to rest well after we get back. You can't get up until you're completely recovered."
Xin Feng felt a bit helpless. Seeing the looks from the surrounding Males, he grew somewhat concerned again.
Seeing him fall silent, Bai Wanwan thought he was in severe pain from his injury. She quickly turned to thank the other Males.
"Thank you all for saving my Beast Husband. I'll have to trouble you to help carry him home. If any of you ever need help in the future, I'll do my best to assist."
After saying this, she turned her head and met Qiu Rong's gaze again. This time, his eyes seemed to hold something more than just simple probing and suspicion.
Looking again, the other beastmen were also staring at her, their gazes somewhat strange.
She asked directly, "Why are you all staring at me?"
Not only did the Males not avert their gazes, their looks became even more blatant.
A bolder Male even walked right up to Bai Wanwan and crouched down in front of her.
"Wan Wan, I like you. I want to be your Beast Husband."
Bai Wanwan was taken aback, thinking beastmen were really straightforward.
She pondered how to refuse without causing hurt.
Who would have thought that in just this short moment, all the Males not carrying Xin Feng crowded in front of Bai Wanwan.
"Wan Wan, I like you too. Let me be your Beast Husband as well."
The Males' actions left Bai Wanwan a bit bewildered.
Was the halo of a Sacred Female really this powerful?
Xin Feng looked at his Little Female with a complicated expression.
She was a Sacred Female, with a pleasant disposition who cared for her mate.
What Male wouldn't yearn for such a Female?
A sour feeling welled up in his heart. He didn't quite understand what it was, but he knew the Males before him were all an eyesore.
Even though they had saved him, it didn't diminish that feeling.
Suddenly, the Little Female's gaze fell on him, and a smile bloomed on her beautiful face.
Meeting her smiling eyes, Xin Feng suddenly sensed something. His heart began to pound.
Then, he heard the Little Female speak in a soft voice, uttering words he would remember for the rest of his life.
