183: Chapter 183 was abruptly halted.
"Slow down," Bai Wanwan's voice came out breathless, "I can't catch my breath."
Hearing this, Yan Lie seemed encouraged, his star-bright eyes shining with boundless delight.
"Okay."
He responded eagerly, then his scorching breath drew close once more.
His burning lips landed on Bai Wanwan's neck, his slender fingers sinking into her soft skin.
Pinned beneath him on the soft beast skin, Bai Wanwan was completely enveloped in his fiery aura.
Her consciousness grew hazy, able only to feel his scalding body heat and rapid heartbeat.
"Sister!"
Shi Hua's voice suddenly called from outside the door, like a bucket of cold water dousing Bai Wanwan's head.
She jolted back to her senses, turning her head toward the slightly ajar door. Shame made her swiftly halt the Male on the verge of eruption.
As someone from Modern Times, she simply couldn't accept such an intimate moment being witnessed by others.
"Yan Lie." She pushed against the Male pressing down on her. "Get up, quick."
But Yan Lie didn't budge an inch. Instead, he held her tighter, his breathing ragged. "Wan Wan, ignore her, okay?"
Bai Wanwan was now fully awake. Shaking her head, she coaxed him, "It's almost mealtime. Next time, okay?"
She cupped Yan Lie's face and planted a light kiss on his lips, trying to soothe him.
Yan Lie truly wished he could charge out and throw Shi Hua as far away from their home as possible!
His grey-blue eyes were full of frustrated desire, yet he couldn't force Wan Wan.
Bai Wanwan forcibly ignored his gaze, grabbed her scattered dress, and quickly put it on.
Watching her movements, Yan Lie secretly resolved that next time, he would definitely avoid such a situation. He would never give Shi Hua a second chance to interrupt them.
Outside the door, Xin Feng, hearing Shi Hua's voice, had already guessed that Bai Wanwan was being "hidden" by Yan Lie.
Sure enough, the next moment the door was pushed open, and Bai Wanwan emerged, her face still flushed with lingering color, looking utterly captivating.
It was the look he was familiar with, the one she had when stirred by passion.
Even though he'd told himself to accept Yan Lie, the thought of Wan Wan in another Male's arms still left a pang of discomfort in his heart.
The Wolf Cub seemed to sense the change in his Father Beast's mood. It ran over, rubbed against his leg, and whimpered.
Xin Feng put down the wood in his hands, bent over, and stroked his Cubs. "Hungry?"
Xin Feng scooped up The Cubs and looked toward Bai Wanwan, who was already being pulled along by Shi Hua. He smiled and said, "Then let's go find your Mother."
"Sister, so you were here."
Shi Hua approached with a beaming smile, her innocent and lively nature completely unaware of what had just transpired.
Bai Wanwan forced composure, offering her a smile. "What is it?"
"Sister, does this seasoning need to be added in advance?"
Shi Hua pointed to the prepared seasoning mix beside her and asked.
She had already skewered all the vegetables and was waiting for Bai Wanwan's instruction.
"This seasoning doesn't go in the vegetables," Bai Wanwan explained while walking over to the stone basin filled with water to wash her hands.
"We can sprinkle it on the vegetables when we grill them later. This seasoning is for the meat."
After washing her hands, she poured the sauce into the stone basin filled with meat chunks and began massaging the meat with her hands.
Her movements were skilled, coating each piece of meat evenly with the seasoning.
"Just leave it here," she stopped her actions. "Once Zhu Xiu and Mu Feng are back, we can start grilling directly."
Just then, Yan Lie walked out of the room.
He had tidied himself up. His gaze swept over Shi Hua, who was clinging to Bai Wanwan, and a wave of resentment swelled within him, unsure how to vent it.
When Bai Wanwan glanced over, he immediately blinked at her with a pitiful expression.
Bai Wanwan's heart softened, and she gave him a reassuring smile.
Yan Lie was just about to find a way to push Shi Hua aside when Xin Feng walked over, holding The Cubs.
Without a moment's hesitation, Xin Feng walked to Bai Wanwan's side and claimed the advantageous spot.
Seeing the Wolf Cub in his arms, Bai Wanwan's attention was immediately pulled away from Yan Lie.
"What's the matter?"
The Wolf Cub kept whimpering, making Bai Wanwan's heart melt.
"He's probably hungry. I brought him over for a bite."
Bai Wanwan had already prepared strips of meat. She immediately brought over the bowl containing them, picked up a piece, and slowly fed it.
The Wolf Cub instantly snatched it with his mouth and began devouring it ravenously.
"Slow down."
As she spoke, Bai Wanwan called over the other Cubs and fed them the meat strips one by one.
Xin Feng stood beside her, occasionally exchanging a word or two with her.
Yan Lie tried to interject several times, but only received brief responses from Wan Wan.
He watched Xin Feng and The Cubs with a jealous eye.
He needed to have a litter of Cubs with Wan Wan as soon as possible. That way, Wan Wan would pay more attention to him and their Cubs.
After The Cubs had eaten and drunk their fill, they all ran off to the courtyard to play.
Yan Lie thought his chance had finally come and swiftly stepped over to Bai Wanwan's other side.
But at that moment, Xin Feng was gently brushing aside the stray hairs by her cheek and tucking them behind her ear.
Bai Wanwan's eyes held a smile as she gazed tenderly at Xin Feng.
It seemed as if only the two of them existed in each other's eyes.
Yan Lie suffered a second blow.
"Wan Wan, I'm hungry too."
Yan Lie's heart felt like it was soaking in a pile of sour fruit.
"Hungry? There's still some meat left. Do you want it?"
The Cubs had just eaten, leaving a few strips of raw meat.
Seeing Yan Lie's eager, anxious look, Xin Feng ultimately yielded his spot.
"Wan Wan, I'll go keep an eye on The Cubs."
"Okay. I'll call you when the meat is grilled."
The moment Xin Feng left, a radiant, sun-bright smile immediately bloomed on Yan Lie's face.
"Wan Wan, you sit. I'll do the grilling. If I do something wrong, just tell me."
He diligently brought a Stone Stool over beside Bai Wanwan and helped her sit down.
Seeing him so enthusiastic, Bai Wanwan let him have his way.
"First, get the fire going."
She gave an instruction, and Yan Lie followed it.
Soon, after the fire was lit, Yan Lie began placing the meat and vegetables on the grill.
Shi Hua watched from the side. She also wanted to get closer to Sister Wanwan.
But every time she took a step, she was glared at by Sister Wanwan's Beast Husband named Yan Lie.
At first, she wasn't sure he was glaring at her. But each time she moved to approach, he would shoot her a look.
Only after Shi Hua realized this did it belatedly occur to her that Sister Wanwan and he had been in the Stone House just now...
Her face flushed red with embarrassment. Not wanting Sister Wanwan to notice, she quickly turned and walked to a more distant spot.
Seeing Shi Hua walk away, finally free from any other beastmen disturbing him and Wan Wan, Yan Lie worked with even more vigor.
He would glance over at Wan Wan sitting beside him every now and then while grilling.
Thinking that she was now his Female, a sense of happiness sprouted in his heart, making the curve of his mouth grow wider and wider.
"What's got you so happy?"
Seeing him grilling meat with a face full of smiles, Bai Wanwan couldn't help but ask.
"Seeing you sitting beside me makes me happy."
Bai Wanwan knew this leopard was utterly smitten with her. Seeing him sweat profusely from grilling, she stood up to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
She had just used a fine cotton cloth to dab his forehead when he grasped her wrist, brought it to his lips, and planted a firm kiss.
