458: Chapter 458 The Only Chance
This was her most solemn promise.
Jiao Yin looked at her deeply, as if trying to carve her image into the depths of his soul.
After a long while, he nodded gently, a faint but genuine curve appearing at the corners of his mouth. "Alright. If I need it, I will... come to them for help."
With that, he hesitated no longer. He turned, his tall figure lifting the door curtain as he strode out into the swirling snow outside, his back quickly swallowed by the white vortex.
Bai Wanwan stood where she was, staring at the empty doorway and the howling snow outside...
The Stone House suddenly seemed much emptier and lonelier; even the light from the fire pit appeared to dim a few shades.
"It's cold outside." Yin Ze's deep, gentle voice sounded in her ear, carrying a reassuring warmth.
He reached out and gently wrapped his arm around Bai Wanwan's shoulders, leading her further into the warm room and using his own body to block the chill seeping in through the cracks of the door.
"Let's go back inside."
His gaze swept over Bai Wanwan's slightly dazed face, then glanced at Hua Han, whose face remained pale and whose eyes were dark and unreadable. "Aren't you coming in?"
Since Jiao Yin left, Yin Ze had taken over Jiao Yin's hunting duties.
He left early and returned late every day.
Although Hua Han could take care of the Female during the day and be close to her, her other Beast Husbands were about to arrive.
When that time came, he would only be able to huddle on his Stone Bed as he did now, watching longingly as her Beast Husbands held her to sleep.
The night was as dark as ink, so thick it wouldn't dissipate.
The sound of the howling snow outside the cave seemed to be the only background noise; Hua Han tossed and turned, unable to sleep just like the previous few days.
Suddenly, his sharp perception caught an extremely subtle ripple of Innate Ability.
He snapped his eyes open, a cold light flashing within them. He quickly rolled up and rushed toward Bai Wanwan's room.
"Yin Ze, Wan Wan, wake up quickly."
Yin Ze had also noticed and was currently draping a thick beast skin over Wan Wan.
Hua Han approached, his voice kept extremely low. "Beastmen are approaching. There are many of them, and their auras are very strong."
An invisible aura of slaughter filled the air, and even the dying embers in the fire pit seemed to be frozen.
"I'll go out and check the situation!" Hua Han made a prompt decision, his figure gliding toward the cave entrance like a ghost.
However, just as he pulled back a crack in the thick beast skin door curtain, the biting cold wind outside, carrying two shrill roars, poured in violently!
"Quick! Take the Female and run! You must take her to the Jiaolong Tribe..."
The voice was full of despair and a final outcry; it was clearly the voices of those two Jiaolong Males from before.
Before the words could finish, a tooth-aching "squelch" sounded, followed by the muffled thud of breaking bones and a short scream. Everything came to an abrupt halt.
A heavy smell of blood was instantly swept into the cave by the cold wind!
Yin Ze, who was holding The Cubs, underwent a drastic change in expression. Almost at the same moment the sound rang out, he lightning-fast extended his broad palm and tightly covered Bai Wanwan's eyes!
"Don't be afraid!" His voice was deep and powerful, possessing a soothing magic, but his tense body betrayed the gravity of his heart.
In the shadows outside the cave, two exceptionally tall Jiaolong beastmen, exuding a cold and ferocious aura, slowly stepped out, walking over the still-twitching corpses of their companions.
Their faces, covered in dark green scales, were expressionless, except for the cruel and greedy light burning in their eyes. Their gaze was like cold venomous snakes, dead-locked on Bai Wanwan inside the cave, who was holding The Cubs.
One of them spoke hoarsely, his voice like grinding sand. "Hand over the Female!"
Every word carried a heavy pressure, like physical ice picks stabbing into the cave.
Hua Han clearly perceived that those surrounding the cave, including the two in front of him, all possessed the aura of Orange-Tier Males.
Jiao Yin had just left, and currently, only he and Yin Ze were Orange Tiers in the cave. They also had to worry about protecting the defenseless Female and several Cubs... This was almost a certain death trap!
In a flash, Hua Han made a decision.
He turned back and said to Yin Ze, "Yin Ze, I'll hold them off. You take the chance to leave with the Female!"
As soon as he finished speaking, his Innate Ability was immediately deployed, and he transformed instantly!
A fox with a lithe build and fur as red as a blazing fire appeared at the cave entrance.
He didn't have the advantage of a massive size, but his movements were incredibly fast!
Nine fluffy giant tails, like burning whips of fire, danced wildly with illusory light and shadows.
He tried to interfere with the minds of all the enemies, even if he could only gain a single moment!
"Go!" Hua Han's beastly roar shook the cave walls, causing dust to fall.
Yin Ze didn't hesitate for a second; he knew this was the only chance!
A loud phoenix cry rang through the night sky. Scorching orange flames instantly enveloped his body, and a magnificent and majestic phoenix appeared on the Snowy Ground.
His massive wings flapped violently, whipping up a hot current of air. "Wan Wan, you and The Cubs get on quickly."
Bai Wanwan was already prepared. Holding the Basket containing The Cubs, she shouted to Hua Han as soon as she climbed up, "Hua Han, come up quickly!"
Unfortunately, it was too late. An Orange Tier Male opposite them had already awakened and immediately pounced toward Bai Wanwan.
Hua Han had no choice but to face the enemy again. "Yin Ze, take Wan Wan and go first."
After giving him a deep look, Yin Ze flapped his giant wings.
"I'll take Wan Wan and The Cubs away first! Hold on, I'll come back to help you!" Yin Ze's voice, carrying the clear tone of a phoenix, echoed in the wind and snow.
Hua Han's fox eyes flashed with a hint of determination amidst the chaos. "Don't worry about me! Take good care of Wan Wan! I'll find a way to escape!"
He had to buy enough distance for Yin Ze to escape far away!
However, as soon as he finished speaking, the Jiaolong Males had begun to wake up one after another.
A sharp look flashed in the eyes of the two leading Jiaolong Males, and a muffled roar erupted from their throats.
"Courting death!"
The leading Jiaolong Male watched the phoenix that had already taken flight, turning into a streak of orange-red light, and let out an enraged roar. The sound was like rolling thunder, containing a terrifying dragon's might!
The rest of the Jiaolong warriors, who had been briefly confused, also instantly regained consciousness, the fierce light in their eyes intensifying!
"Roar!" All the Jiaolong warriors let out angry roars, their Orange Tier power erupting without reservation.
Claw shadows carrying immense force poured down like a deluge toward the fiery red fox.
Bai Wanwan, protected on Yin Ze's back, endured the violent jolting and the biting cold wind as she struggled to look back.
In the chaotic intertwining of energy light and snow below, she clearly saw Hua Han's fiery red figure get hit hard by a massive, scale-covered tail. Like a kite with its string cut, he slammed heavily against a huge rock covered in thick icicles!
Her heart felt as if it were being tightly gripped and torn apart by a cold hand.
Hua Han's body slid down limply, his fiery red fur instantly stained with a large patch of eye-piercing dark red, leaving a shocking trail on the Snowy Ground.
