407: Chapter 407 Slowly Sinking
Chapter 47: Slowly Sinking In
If any Beastmen had been present, they would have noticed Yan Lie's sharp gaze scanning the surroundings from a distant Stone Stool, yet he strangely overlooked Bai Wanwan's presence.
Jiao Yin gazed at the sleeping Female in his arms, his voice as faint as a silken thread: "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you. I just need your help."
The sleeping Bai Wanwan remained oblivious, only vaguely sensing an indistinct whispering by her ear. Then, a warm current slowly flowed into her body, making her feel as if she were enveloped in a warm spring.
She slept exceptionally soundly this time, and upon waking, her limbs felt a lazy, pleasant soreness.
After finishing her morning routine, Bai Wanwan found that only Xin Feng and Yin Ze were left at home.
Xin Feng was wiping the stone table, and upon seeing her come out, he immediately put down the linen cloth: "You're awake? Are you hungry?"
"Starving," Bai Wanwan replied with a faint smile, stroking her protruding belly.
As her delivery date approached, her appetite grew day by day.
"Wait a moment."
Xin Feng quickly brought over grilled beast meat marinated in wild fruit juice, the golden fat still sizzling on the surface of the meat.
Bai Wanwan ate with great relish, finishing the entire basin of meat in the blink of an eye.
Suddenly, the silvery laughter of The Cubs drifted in from the backyard.
She followed the sound, and as she turned a corner, a heavenly singing voice suddenly wafted toward her.
The melody was distant and ethereal, carrying a mysterious rhythm unique to the deep sea, causing her to stop and listen involuntarily.
When she saw clearly that it was the Jiaoren singing, her heart inexplicably trembled.
"You're here?" The Jiaoren's azure eyes looked past the frolicking Cubs and toward her with a gentle smile.
"What song is this? It's very beautiful."
"It's a song from my homeland. Do you like it?"
His voice rose slightly at the end, and his scales shimmered with a pearly luster under the sunlight.
The Cubs were already sitting around the pool, their furry paws clutching the hem of her skirt.
"Yes, I like it."
Upon hearing this, the Jiaoren smiled and said, "Then I will sing it for you again."
When he opened his lips again, even the wind seemed to stand still.
The tune seemed to possess the power to cleanse the soul, making her feel nothing but pleasure and comfort.
When the song ended, Bai Wanwan clapped instinctively.
The Cubs immediately learned to clap with their paw pads; their adorable appearance made the Jiaoren chuckle softly.
Bai Wanwan kept watching him, and seeing the smile at the corner of his lips, her heart felt another strange throb.
She frowned and pressed her hand to her chest; why was her heart so restless today?
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" The Jiaoren swam closer, his fishtail cutting through the water's surface.
"I'm fine, I'm going for a walk." Just as she was about to stand up, The Cubs swarmed her.
"Mama..."
The lion cub was the youngest and at his most daring age. "Mama, the Jiaoren said Beast Pet Street has new fire-breathing Lizard Beasts. The Cubs want to go see..."
"Fire-breathing Lizard Beasts?"
The Cubs nodded in unison, their big eyes on their small heads full of curiosity and anticipation.
Bai Wanwan didn't want to be a killjoy mother, so she nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's go take a look. Go call your Father Beast, let's head out!"
The Cubs happily turned and ran off.
"May I come along?" The Jiaoren's request made her turn around.
His silver-white long hair fell over his shoulders, and his expression seemed somewhat lonely.
"I can hide my fishtail and cover my face."
Reason told her she should refuse, but meeting those blue eyes filled with a sea of stars, her tongue took it upon itself to say, "Alright."
When Xin Feng brought over a Linen Cloak, a hint of doubt flashed across his gentle brow: "Are you really taking him out?"
"Yes," Bai Wanwan answered subconsciously.
Xin Feng's gaze swept over the Jiaoren. "My Female has agreed to take you out. Don't cause trouble. If you do, there's no need to come back with us."
Only then did he hand over the clothing in his hand.
The Jiaoren reached out to take it. "Thank you, I won't cause trouble."
After saying that, he turned to change his clothes.
"Yin Ze," Bai Wanwan suddenly felt curious and asked, "Yin Ze, what other races are in the deep sea? Are the Jiaoren very powerful?"
"The deep sea is like the Land; it has many Sea Beastmen. The Jiaoren Clan's overall strength isn't high, but their royalty is very powerful. So in the deep sea, no one dares to easily provoke an ordinary Jiaoren," Yin Ze said slowly.
"Royalty? How powerful?"
"If they are in the ocean, a royal Jiaoren can kill a high-level Male even if they are at a lower rank. Even if their power is weakened after coming ashore, they won't be weaker than a Land Beastmen of the same rank. But that's only for the royal lineage."
Her curiosity piqued, she couldn't help but continue asking, "Then what's the difference between royalty and ordinary Jiaoren? How do you distinguish them?"
Yin Ze shook his head. "The Jiaoren royalty is very mysterious. No one has seen them on the continent; even ordinary Beastmen are very rare."
After a pause, Yin Ze added, "I only know that all Jiaoren are good-looking, and the royalty is even more beautiful. Also... I heard that the royal Jiaoren all have the surname Jiao."
Jiao Yin walked out just in time to hear Yin Ze's last sentence.
His pace slowed down instinctively. "What were you just talking about?"
"I just heard from my Beast Husband that your Jiaoren Clan rarely comes to the continent, especially the royalty, who have almost never appeared here."
"Yes, if it weren't for being captured by Beastmen, my Clan Members and I wouldn't have come here. As for the royalty... they indeed cannot easily set foot on this continent."
"Why?"
"I am not royalty; I only know that the royalty cannot leave the ocean at will."
Bai Wanwan accepted his explanation and looked at him. "Then, what is your name?"
"My name is Luo Qing."
When the group arrived at Beast Pet Street, the Jiaoren followed slowly at the back.
"Mama, look! There really are fire-breathing Beast Pets."
The Cubs were very excited, looking left and right as if they wished they had more eyes.
While Xin Feng stepped forward to restrain The Cubs, the Jiaoren came to Bai Wanwan's side.
"I wonder how many Jiaoren there are in the entire Tiger Clan?"
Bai Wanwan turned her eyes in surprise. "Are you asking me? To be honest, before I saw you, I didn't even know Jiaoren existed in this place."
His eyes flickered for a moment. "That's a pity. If the Tiger Clan had more Jiaoren, it would bring you unexpected surprises."
Yin Ze was right next to Bai Wanwan; hearing this, he turned to look at him.
The Jiaoren seemed oblivious to Yin Ze's gaze and only whispered softly, "Female, do you want to see?"
Did she want to see?
The curiosity in Bai Wanwan's heart seemed to be infinitely magnified.
She wanted to see!
By the time she snapped back to her senses, she had already sent a Beastman to inform Qiu Rong.
She shook her head; her curiosity was real, and she remembered the process of doing this clearly.
But she faintly felt that something wasn't quite right.
It wasn't until nightfall when Qiu Rong returned and brought her news: "You want to find other Jiaoren?"
Bai Wanwan nodded; this matter had indeed been her idea.
"Yes, I asked the Beastman to find you. Are there other Jiaoren in the Tribe?"
"I've already sent people to look. There should be news tomorrow."
Jiao Yin, who had been eavesdropping, slowly sank his body into the water...
