427: Chapter 427 Don't Be Self-Indulgent

His bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at her determined and cold gaze; there was no trace of fear in it, only deep-seated hatred and an uncompromising spirit.

Time seemed to freeze for a few seconds. Roger's chest heaved violently, his heavy breathing blowing against Bai Wanwan's face.

Ultimately, that frantic possessiveness, which almost threatened to incinerate everything, seemed to be temporarily suppressed by this curse-like vow.

He suddenly released his grip on her, stood up, and turned his back to her, his shoulders trembling slightly.

Only his heavy breathing and the crackling of the campfire remained in the Cave.

After a long time, he finally seemed to calm down.

"Bai Wanwan, you can throw a tantrum with me, but this time I will absolutely not let go. I have plenty of time and patience to wear you down slowly."

Roger knew that any of Bai Wanwan's Beast Husbands would be difficult to deal with, so this time, he would take Bai Wanwan away from the Land Beasts' sphere of influence.

Only by staying far away from this continent would Bai Wanwan's Land Beast Husbands be unable to reach her.

He stood at the Cave entrance, looking out at the pitch-black Mountains and Forests, his voice carrying the desperate madness of a gambler.

He wanted to take Bai Wanwan to the seaside. If he successfully escaped the tracking range of her Beast Husbands, he would have a lifetime to win her heart. But if he lost... he would pay with his life.

He knew he hadn't used the right method from the start, and now, Bai Wanwan loathed him to the extreme.

He had already missed the best opportunity.

Time passed day by day...

Every day, Roger took Bai Wanwan out at night and hid during the day, specifically choosing remote and treacherous paths and carefully erasing all traces.

Every day, hiding in dark Caves, he learned to take care of a Female just like other Males did, and he did it quite well.

Watching him wash her clothes, hunt and roast meat, and carefully select the most tender parts to cut into small pieces...

She wasn't moved in the slightest. She was only anxious that after so much time, her Beast Husbands still hadn't caught up.

"What are you looking at?"

Roger roasted the tender meat, cut it into small pieces, placed it on a leaf, and handed it to her. "In three more days, we'll reach the territory of the Sea Beastmen. If your Beast Husbands still haven't found you by then, they'll never have another chance... Bai Wanwan, you should accept your fate."

Bai Wanwan snorted coldly. "I'm not someone who likes to accept fate."

Even during the journey, she had secretly dropped many items carrying her scent.

But for some reason, no matter how secretly she did it, Roger seemed to have surveillance installed on her and could always detect her little movements.

He picked up the items she had discarded one by one.

"If I couldn't even see these little tricks of yours, yet still dreamed of snatching you from your Beast Husbands, wouldn't that be seeking death!"

"I think you are seeking death! When my Beast Husbands find me, it will be the day you die!"

Roger didn't get angry but laughed instead. "Fine, but until then, be a good girl for me."

Bai Wanwan glared at him in annoyance.

Roger knew all her habits. After eating, he went to the Riverside to fetch water for her to wash up.

Bai Wanwan stared at his back. It wasn't that she hadn't thought about escaping.

But if she really escaped, she wouldn't be able to return to her Beast Husbands safely on this continent.

Besides, Roger was only going to fetch water; he wasn't injured or asleep.

She could only temporarily dismiss the idea of escaping on her own.

He placed the stone basin filled with water in front of her and used merman silk dipped in water to clean her skin.

His movements were somewhat earnest. "Bai Wanwan, I've watched from the shadows many times. Your Beast Husbands take meticulous care of you every day. I know your habits, I know you love cleanliness. I've fantasized many times in my dreams that I could take care of you just like them, and now... my dream has come true."

Bai Wanwan frowned and looked at him mercilessly. "Stop being so self-indulgent. I didn't ask you to take care of me."

The rare tenderness that had appeared on Roger's face came to an abrupt halt. He threw the merman silk into the stone basin. "Yes, I brought this on myself."

After speaking, just like every time before, he spread a thick beast skin blanket in the Cave.

Extending his long arm, he imprisoned the Female in his embrace.

Bai Wanwan kicked him hard, trying to keep her distance.

But the Male seemed completely oblivious to the pain. No matter how she kicked, Roger didn't budge.

"Are you tired of kicking? If you're tired, go to sleep."

His arm was like cast iron. She had thought about using the Laser Gun to blast him.

But if she killed him, the Laser Gun had a limited number of uses, and she would also be eaten by the endless stream of wild beasts in the forest.

Enduring it again and again, the salty and fishy sea breeze replaced the scent of the forest.

They reached the East Coast of the continent.

Roger did not choose any tribal Settlement. Instead, he found a hidden, natural Cave partially submerged in seawater at the bottom of a steep cliff.

At high tide, the Cave entrance would be partially submerged; it only fully revealed itself at low tide.

"From now on, this will be our 'home'."

During this time, Bai Wanwan had grown accustomed to his talking to himself and simply ignored him.

Roger was also used to her ignoring him. After arranging for her to rest on the side, he began using simple stone tools and bone blades.

In the higher, drier part of the Cave's interior, he dug deeper and wider, barely managing to clear out a space to stay in.

He had seen the new home they built in the Tiger Clan; it did look very comfortable.

He couldn't give her that kind of life now, but he would try his best to make the temporary residence more comfortable for her.

Moreover, if nothing went wrong, they would spend a month or two here. Once they evaded the pursuit of her Beast Husbands and the Rainy Season arrived, he would take her to hide in a nearby Tribe.

After spending an entire day, Roger had widened the Cave significantly. It was more than enough for two beastmen to live in.

The Cave was filled with a heavy fishy smell of the sea and a damp, musty odor. In the corner lay a pile of smelly sea creatures Roger had hunted.

The smell made Bai Wanwan want to retch.

Seeing this, Roger walked to her side and gently patted her back. "Endure it a little longer. After a while, I'll take you to live in a nearby Tribe."

Bai Wanwan turned away to avoid his touch. "Why should I endure it? This is all because of you."

Having Bai Wanwan by his side all this time had smoothed over the possessiveness in his heart. His tone was unusually gentle. "It is because of me. If your Beast Husbands find me, I'll hand my life over to them and let them punish me however they want."

"Who cares about your worthless life!" Bai Wanwan glared at him crossly and turned her head to retch again.

Roger did not argue with her further, only warning her coldly: "I need to go out for a while. Stay here obediently and don't think about escaping. The cliffs around here are steep; you can't climb up. Outside..."

He pointed to the surging sea and the beach covered with jagged reefs. "There are either wild beasts waiting to tear you apart, or Bay Crocodile beastmen lurking in the shallow bays who love catching lone Females to take back, or those amphibious sea tribes hidden in the deep sea who also crave Females. Without a Male's protection, stepping out of this Cave entrance means certain death, or a fate worse than death. The choice is yours; decide for yourself."
