Chapter 319: Do You Like It?
He gave no response, merely holding onto her hand and refusing to let go.
She could only treat his wounds one-handed, cleaning the inflamed cuts again and again.
Jin Yue stood at the doorway holding the hot water, unable to decide whether to enter or retreat.
Jin Cang nodded at him. "Take it in, and come right back out."
A dark glint flashed in Jin Cang's wise eyes; perhaps his Male Cub would turn misfortune into a blessing this time.
Thinking of this, a smile appeared on his face.
Jin Yue had no choice but to brace himself and deliberately coughed once before bringing the hot water in. "Female Bai Wanwan, the water is ready."
Having said that, he quickly set down the wooden basin and turned to leave, as if some flood or fierce beast were chasing him.
Bai Wanwan glanced suspiciously at his retreating back but couldn't discern anything unusual, so she withdrew her gaze.
Jin Yi was still tightly gripping her hand, preventing her from working.
"Loosen your hand, I need to cool you down."
However, the Male under a high fever stubbornly held onto her, utterly unwilling to let go.
She had to pry his fingers open one by one.
It took immense effort to pry his fingers apart and pull her wrist free.
In just this short time, a circle of red marks had already appeared on her wrist.
"When you wake up, I'll show you what you've done to me!"
She complained verbally while her hands continued their work.
She took a towel out of the system space, dampened it, and wrung it out lightly.
She began wiping him, starting from his forehead.
After wiping his forehead and cheeks several times, the cloth trailed down along his neck.
The warm towel slid over his chest, arms, and abdomen...
Her movements were gentle and meticulous, but when the towel accidentally brushed against a certain unspeakable area, Jin Yi suddenly let out a muffled groan.
Bai Wanwan's hand froze abruptly, her cheeks instantly flushing. She quickly moved the towel away, pretending to be calm as she wiped other areas.
She had only intended to cool down the inside of his thigh; she hadn't even pulled away the beast skin wrapped around his waist.
Even so, she had accidentally touched him.
After finishing the first round of wiping, she touched Jin Yi's temperature and felt that it seemed slightly lower than before.
She quickly began the second round of cooling.
She repeated the previous steps, focusing on wiping his forehead, the sides of his neck, his armpits, and the insides of his thighs.
Again and again, she repeated the process tirelessly.
But the man's occasional groans reached her ears, and even with her thick skin, she felt extremely embarrassed.
She had secretly glanced back earlier; all the Beastmen in the room had withdrawn, but she didn't know if they had heard the sounds from inside.
If they heard, wouldn't they think she was assaulting their Young Clan Leader?
There was no way to explain it.
Even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn't wash away the suspicion.
She decided to give up worrying about it and focused entirely on cooling Jin Yi down.
Half an hour later, she could clearly feel that his scorching hot skin had become warm, no longer burning.
After the moisture on his body dried, she applied the Highly Effective Wound Healing Medicine she had exchanged for her Beast Husband.
She squeezed out some and applied it to the more severely injured areas.
For the other areas, she only applied a layer of ordinary Healing Ointment.
It was several hours later when she finished all that.
She hadn't rested well the previous night, and as soon as she relaxed, a strong sense of exhaustion washed over her.
She slumped down by the Stone Bed and unknowingly fell asleep.
She slept soundly for an unknown amount of time.
When her consciousness gradually began to surface, she sensed a burning gaze.
She snapped her eyes open, meeting Jin Yi's deep golden pupils.
He was awake, staring at her without blinking, a faint blush appearing on his pale face.
"Cough..."
He seemed unprepared for her to wake up suddenly, turning his face away uncomfortably, his voice low and hoarse. "Why are you here?"
The grogginess from just waking up dissipated, and seeing that it was him, Bai Wanwan relaxed.
She stretched, a slight smile curving her lips. "Your high fever wouldn't break, so the Clan Leader asked me to look after you."
Silence fell in the room.
Bai Wanwan didn't rush him; she just sat beside him, raising her hand to touch his forehead.
She clearly felt that the temperature under her palm had returned to normal.
However, she still detected the Male's tense skin and stiff body.
Bai Wanwan remained composed, the corners of her mouth curving slightly.
After she withdrew her hand, Jin Yi seemed to slowly calm down.
When he turned to look at her, his expression had returned to its usual calmness. "Thank you, I'm fine now."
Bai Wanwan remained silent, just sitting on the Stone Stool with her arms crossed, quietly staring at him.
"Jin Yi, is there anything you want to say to me?"
Jin Yi looked up, meeting her beautiful eyes. His breathing hitched. "Thank you for saving me. If you ever need anything in the future, you can come to me."
"Is that all?" Bai Wanwan raised an eyebrow, still patient.
Jin Yi's heart beat uncontrollably faster, some words stuck in his throat.
A voice in his mind seemed to urge him to speak out.
But another voice suppressed it back down.
"Um, no..."
Bai Wanwan watched him quietly. After a while, she suddenly smiled. "Alright then, the Young Clan Leader has recovered, so you should rest well. My Beast Husband also needs care, so I'll head back now."
Saying that, she left without any hesitation, turning and walking away.
Jin Yi subconsciously raised his hand, but forcefully pulled it back down again.
He carried the future of the Golden Lion Clan, and Bai Wanwan... their group had no intention of staying.
At that moment, he even forgot his previous belief that he would not share a Female with other Males.
Soon, she heard herself speaking softly to her Beast Husband outside.
"Xin Feng, the Young Clan Leader has recovered. Let's go home."
"Okay, let's go then."
Listening to the sound of the two gradually leaving, Jin Yi clutched the beast skin blanket, a look of struggle appearing in his eyes.
Just as Jin Cang, Bai Wanwan, and Xin Feng were about to come back in to check on the Male Cub's condition, they ran right into each other.
"Wan Wan, why are you coming out?"
Jin Cang asked in surprise. "How is Jin Yi?"
Bai Wanwan replied with a smile, "Clan Leader, don't worry. The Young Clan Leader's high fever has subsided, and I've also treated his wounds. As long as he rests well from now on, he'll recover quickly."
Jin Cang let out an "Oh" and quickly added, "His injuries this time were too severe and very dangerous. Wan Wan, could you possibly stay a bit longer to check on him? I'm worried he might relapse."
Bai Wanwan didn't overthink it. Wounds that aren't properly treated for infection can indeed lead to recurring fever.
But she had treated him very carefully and even used Highly Effective Wound Healing Medicine on him. Given the strong recovery ability of their Beastmen, it was almost impossible for him to get a fever again.
"My two Beast Husbands are also injured. If the Young Clan Leader's condition changes, the Clan Leader can send someone to find me again."
Jin Cang knew he was being unreasonable. Her Beast Husbands were injured for the sake of their Tribe too.
He couldn't bring himself to insist on keeping her, "Alright then, I'll send someone to escort you back."
After arranging for Jin Yue to escort Bai Wanwan back, Jin Cang sighed and turned around.
Upon returning to the Witchs Cave and seeing Jin Yi, he couldn't help but say, "Jin Yi, Father Beast has done his best. Do you really not like Bai Wanwan?"
Here we go, here we go. I didn't have time to rewrite yesterday, so it was a bit weak. I spent more time revising today.
