438: Chapter 438 Concealment
Hearing the door close, Bai Wanwan's ears turned slightly red, but she couldn't afford to dwell on it now.
Her clothes were already torn and dirty. She had just wanted to change into a clean, long cotton dress to cover herself after giving birth, to avoid embarrassment.
But what she never expected was that as soon as she took off her clothes, the two Males rushed in.
She quickly put on the long cotton dress. The contractions in her abdomen were making her extremely uncomfortable.
She hurriedly lay back on the bed and quickly exchanged for Painless Childbirth.
Soon, Jiao Yin's hoarse, tense voice came from outside, filled with unprecedented panic and awkwardness, "Wan Wan, we didn't mean to, are you... alright?"
He stood with his back to the door, his broad shoulders stiff as a board.
Hua Han also hung his head, his heart pounding so wildly in his chest it felt like it might burst, the tips of his ears red as blood.
"It's our fault. We didn't hear any sound and got worried, so we barged in."
Jiao Yin continued, "How do you feel? Should I go and fetch the Shaman?"
"No need. Wait outside for a while. If I can't manage on my own, I'll call for you."
The Female's voice was resolute. Jiao Yin and Hua Han exchanged a glance, both seeing worry and anxiety mirrored in the other's eyes.
"Then let's wait a bit longer. If it really doesn't work out, I'll go find the Clan Witch."
They didn't know the situation inside. They kept shifting their positions, their bodies wound tight.
In their hearts, they were worried about Bai Wanwan, who was going through childbirth, yet they couldn't ignore the brief, stunning glimpse they had just caught.
Time ticked by. Hua Han forcibly tried to calm his racing heart.
Amidst the chaos, an incredibly clear and resolute thought broke through: She's the one for this lifetime! No matter the cost, even if it means giving everything, he must become her Beast Husband! Protect her, and her Cubs.
Lying on the bed, Bai Wanwan felt the pain gradually fade away. After a sensation of heaviness and pressure, one, two, three... four Tiger Cubs tumbled out.
The Cubs landed on the bed, letting out soft whimpers.
After letting out a long sigh of relief, Bai Wanwan heard the system announcement: "Congratulations, Host, for giving birth to three Orange Tier Male Cubs and one Sacred Female. Total reward: 250,000 points."
She glanced at The Cubs gently squirming and a satisfied smile spread across her face.
She raised her hand and opened the system panel, immediately seeing the balance displayed: 26,250.
Previously, after various expenses for buying building materials, she had only a little over ten thousand left. But now, her balance had increased by over two hundred thousand.
For the two Males at the door, every second felt like a century, filled with worry, tension... all sorts of complex emotions weaving a giant net, trapping them firmly.
"You can come in now." Bai Wanwan's voice was filled with an indescribable tenderness.
Jiao Yin and Hua Han turned around almost simultaneously, their movements so fast they stirred up a gust of wind.
When they rushed into the room and saw the Female on the Stone Bed, bathed in a soft, radiant glow, looking even more beautiful than before childbirth, and in the crook of her arm, four healthy, rosy Cubs lying side by side, gently squirming, the two of them were utterly petrified on the spot!
Hua Han's eyes widened. He pointed at the four little bundles, "This... she's already given birth?"
Although he hadn't undergone the Pairing Ceremony, he had witnessed the miserable state of Females giving birth in the Fox Tribe many times. Wasn't each one a brush with death, wailing for days and nights?
How come for her, it was as easy as... as easy as picking a piece of fruit?
Jiao Yin also couldn't hide his shock, but he recovered faster. His ice-blue eyes overflowed with heartache and a deeper emotion.
He quickly walked to the bedside, knelt on one knee, carefully avoiding The Cubs, and gently placed his cool but steady hand on Bai Wanwan's sweaty forehead. His voice was low, "Wan Wan, how do you feel?"
Coming back to his senses, Hua Han hurried forward. Looking at the four wrinkled yet full-of-life little ones, then at the tired but gentle-eyed Bai Wanwan, his fox-like eyes shone brightly: "Wan Wan, you're amazing! The Cubs are all strong and adorable too."
Bai Wanwan smiled at him, "Thank you both."
If it weren't for them on this journey, she might not have been able to give birth to these Tiger Cubs safely.
"No need to thank me. It's just my luck to have met you! You're a Female. Taking care of you is what I should do." Hua Han's fox-like eyes curved as he smiled, charmingly alluring like a hook.
Bai Wanwan quickly turned her head away, resisting his allure.
Just then, a slightly cool breeze blew in from outside the door.
Jiao Yin promptly got up and closed the door.
"The climate on this continent is different from where you lived. The Rainy Season will probably arrive later."
Jiao Yin paused here, hesitating slightly, "When the Rainy Season comes, it won't be convenient for you to travel with The Cubs. We might have to stay here until the next Warm Season arrives."
Until the next Warm Season...
Bai Wanwan frowned. If her Beast Husbands couldn't find her, would they have to search through the icy Snowy Ground for an entire Snow Season?
*Thump, thump, thump...*
Jiao Yin glanced at Bai Wanwan and soothingly said, "I'll go see. You rest well."
He stood up and walked towards the door. Outside were the lynx clan chief and several Clan Members. They had brought the softest, tanned snow hare pelts, a clay pot of warm beast milk infused with nourishing herbs, several precious pieces of warm chalcedony emitting a gentle energy, and a large piece of deer leg meat, perfectly marbled, ideal for nourishing a new mother.
The old chief's face held gratitude and concern, "Please, you must accept these things."
"Thank you for the chief and the Tribe's generosity." Jiao Yin's voice was deep and steady, betraying little emotion, though his speech was a fraction faster than usual.
His ice-blue eyes quickly swept over the items in the lynx Clan Members' hands, "Thank you. We do need these things right now."
The lynx chief smiled and said, "Then I'll have them bring the things inside for you."
"No need," Jiao Yin raised a hand to stop him, "Just give them to me."
Jiao Yin steadily received the tall pile of supplies with one hand, his movements fluid and powerful, while his other hand remained firmly on the doorframe, ensuring no line of sight could penetrate his blockade.
He gave a slight nod, his tone still flat but carrying a note of finality, "Thank you again. The Tribe's kindness, we will remember."
"Of course, of course." The old chief quickly waved his hands and respectfully retreated a few steps with his Clan Members.
Jiao Yin said no more. He swiftly and decisively took a step back and closed the wooden door, his movements crisp and clean.
Outside, the lynx Clan Members exchanged looks. The old chief gazed at the tightly shut wooden door, stroked his beard, a thoughtful glint flashing in his eyes. Finally, he shook his head and led his Clan Members away quietly.
Jiao Yin stood holding the tall pile of supplies, tokens of the lynx Tribe's goodwill. His gaze, however, went straight past them, fixed intently on the direction of the Stone Bed.
In the dim light, Bai Wanwan seemed to have fallen asleep from exhaustion, her breathing even. The four little bundles nestled close to her, sleeping soundly.
Hua Han blinked his fox-like eyes, "They've all left?"
"Mm. For now, don't let them know about Wan Wan giving birth."
Bai Wanwan was the Female he had seen give birth the fastest, and The Cubs looked to have very strong Innate Ability from the start.
