354: Chapter 354 Why Not Repay Now
Bai Wanwan fell silent for a moment, then followed her heart and shook her head. 'I have to leave.'
After hearing this, Yin Ze's expression darkened.
He stood there looking at her for a while before turning and going inside the house.
Seeing this, Yin Mei offered a word of comfort and followed him in.
Bai Wanwan thought he was angry, and the usual smile vanished from her lips.
After waking up, she remembered nothing and felt insecure. She actually harbored a kind of imprinting affection toward Yin Ze and Yin Mei, who had saved her.
Deep down, she relied on them quite a bit. The sudden prospect of parting was something she also found hard to let go of.
But her subconscious told her that if she stayed here muddle-headed like this, without trying to figure out who those four Males were, she would regret it for the rest of her life.
Glancing in the direction of the Stone House, Bai Wanwan decided to go ask again when the Caravan would return. She wanted to leave with the Caravan.
Meanwhile, Yin Mei pushed the door open and entered. Watching Yin Ze's back as he drank water, she sighed and asked, 'Are you angry?'
Yin Ze didn't turn around and continued drinking.
'Wan Wan has forgotten her past; she must be very anxious inside. It's only normal that she wants to find out about her past. If you're angry with Wan Wan because of this, even as your Female Elder Sister, I can't take your side.'
Yin Ze put down the Stone Bowl and turned around.
'I'm not angry. I just need a little time to think about something.'
'Hmm? What is it?'
Yin Ze looked at his Female Elder Sister, the emotions in his eyes seemingly struggling.
Back then, it was precisely because he feared his Female Elder Sister would suffer grievances in their Tribe that he took her away to live in a Medium-sized Tribe.
He had sworn to the beast god that his Female Elder Sister was his only family, and he would always protect her and watch over her happiness.
But now, he actually felt an impulse to accompany Wan Wan out, to help her find her lost memories.
Yin Mei, after all, had grown up with him. Seeing his furrowed brows and hesitant expression, she quickly understood.
'Do you want to leave with Wan Wan?' Yin Mei said this not only without anger, but her eyes even brightened.
'I... Female Elder Sister, I haven't decided yet,' Yin Ze told the truth.
This wasn't a small matter. Even though his Female Elder Sister now had Kong Lai by her side, having only one Male might not be enough to protect her properly.
Leaving... he couldn't rest easy.
Sensing Yin Ze's worry and hesitation, Yin Mei stepped forward and gently hugged him. 'Yin Ze, you've done enough for your Female Elder Sister. I hope you can also strive for your own sake. Wan Wan is a good Female, and I like her too. Work hard, become her Beast Husband. I have no Cubs; I'll help you raise your Cubs in the future, okay?'
A faint blush spread to the roots of Yin Ze's ears. 'You're thinking too far ahead.'
Yin Mei let out a soft laugh. 'Alright, alright, it's your Female Elder Sister thinking too far ahead. Then it's settled. You escort Wan Wan out. I'll go prepare things for you.'
'Mm. I'll bring Wan Wan back in the future.'
'Good. I'll always be here waiting for you.'
After talking with his Female Elder Sister, Yin Ze felt a weight lift from his heart. Once he made the decision, he no longer hesitated, strode out with his long legs to find Bai Wanwan.
When he found her, she was talking with several Males.
The Males practically wanted to stick themselves to her. With a dark expression, Yin Ze stepped forward and pulled Bai Wanwan behind him.
The Males were initially a bit angry, but upon seeing it was Orange-Tier Male Yin Ze, they all backed down, not daring to say anything more, and immediately turned to leave.
'Hey, wait, you haven't finished telling me...'
Her raised hand was caught and pulled down by Yin Ze. 'What did you want to ask? You can ask me.'
Bai Wanwan's lips moved slightly. Thinking that parting would come sooner or later anyway, she simply spoke directly. 'Alright. I wanted to ask them when the Caravan is coming. I want to leave with the Caravan when it arrives.'
'No need to ask.' Yin Ze looked at her face and suddenly felt like teasing her. 'You're just going to leave like that, without thanking us for saving you?'
Bai Wanwan sighed. 'I have nothing right now. Later... when I find my past, I'll come back to repay you.'
Making such an empty promise, Bai Wanwan also felt a bit embarrassed.
'Then better to repay now.'
Yin Ze suddenly leaned in and wrapped his arms around her.
In the twilight, his jade-green eyes shimmered with a dark light, his handsome features gilded by the bonfire's edge. Bai Wanwan was momentarily dazed, forgetting to break free.
But reason quickly returned. She wouldn't stay here. She couldn't have a future with Yin Ze. So the best course was to make a clean break.
Just then, a beastman passed by. After Bai Wanwan pushed him away, Yin Ze, though helpless, didn't press further.
'It's getting late. Let's go back.'
'I still want to ask about the Caravan.'
Yin Ze tugged her hand, pulling her back. 'No need to ask. Someone will take you out.'
Yin Ze's words put Bai Wanwan's mind at ease, though she kept pressing. 'Who? Is a Tribesman going out?'
Yin Ze's eyes flickered. 'Mm.'
'Who is it? When can we leave?'
Bai Wanwan's eyes sparkled. Tugging his hand, she seemed eager to leave immediately.
Yin Ze felt a bit sour. After spending so many days together, was she really this eager to leave?
'Tomorrow. You'll know who soon enough.'
After saying this, Yin Ze offered no further explanation. After returning home, he didn't speak to her much either.
That night, Bai Wanwan lay awake for a long time before falling asleep.
But no feast lasts forever; parting comes sooner or later.
She consoled herself with this, but when she woke the next day, she still had two big dark circles under her eyes.
'What's this? Didn't sleep well?' Yin Mei noticed immediately, pulling her aside to ask.
Bai Wanwan gave an 'Mm.' 'Maybe it was a bit hot. I didn't sleep well.'
Yin Mei didn't expose it, shooting a somewhat reproachful glance at Yin Ze beside her.
Then she turned back to Bai Wanwan. 'Didn't Yin Ze tell you?'
Bai Wanwan was distracted but still responded. 'He did. He said a beastman would take me away today. Sister Yin Mei, after I leave, take good care of yourself. When I have the chance, I'll come back to see you.'
She opened her arms and hugged Yin Mei.
Yin Mei also hugged her back, gently patting her back. 'Good. I'll wait for you to come back and see me.'
'Us?' Bai Wanwan raised an eyebrow, puzzled. Did Sister Yin Mei mean the beastman escorting her out?
'Yin Ze. He's personally taking you. This bad guy, not telling you, making you overthink.'
Hearing Yin Mei's words, Bai Wanwan suddenly turned her head, her gaze landing on Yin Ze beside her.
He deliberately didn't look up at her, seeming somewhat uncomfortable.
'Is what Sister Yin Mei said true?'
Yin Ze had planned to tell her today anyway, so now he nodded in response. 'Mm. I'll accompany you out, so you don't get tricked away by some other bad beastman.'
Bai Wanwan curved the corners of her lips upward. 'Yin Ze, thank you!'
'Why thank him? It's what he should do,' Yin Mei responded with a smile.
After eating, Yin Ze shouldered a bundle and, with Bai Wanwan in tow, slowly walked out of the Peacock Tribe's gate under Yin Mei's watchful gaze.
