139: Chapter 139 encountered a problem.

The sun was bright overhead, and Bai Wanwan was lying comfortably on the sun lounger that Xin Feng had specially made for her, listening to the joyful roars of The Cubs chasing each other nearby.

Xin Feng sat beside her, his hand resting lightly on her slightly bulging belly.

"This pregnancy is growing quite fast," Xin Feng watched with a bit of worry, remembering how Wan Wan had fainted from the previous turmoil.

Bai Wanwan also reached out to caress her own stomach. Recently, her appetite had exploded, and she had eaten quite a lot.

She felt extremely happy.

After all, she could eat without getting fat.

She was currently enjoying this benefit—eating five or six meals a day, a whole basin each time, yet other than her belly, the rest of her body remained slender.

"Are you feeling any discomfort these past two days?" Xin Feng stared at her face, observing her expression.

Bai Wanwan smiled and shook her head. "I told you not to be nervous. I don't feel uncomfortable at all. This time, the birth will definitely go smoothly."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Mu Shan leading several Females approaching while shouting.

"Mu Ye, where are you? Where are you?"

Mu Shan seemed quite annoyed. "If I find you, I'll skin you alive!"

The Females grumbled as they passed their dwelling and walked away.

As Bai Wanwan lay there, she started feeling drowsy. She held Xin Feng's hand. "I want to sleep for a while."

"Okay, sleep,"

Xin Feng picked up the blanket with one hand and covered her properly.

She was truly sleepy and didn't even respond to Xin Feng before quickly falling into a deep sleep.

Xin Feng stayed by her side, watching over her and The Cubs.

When Bai Wanwan woke up, it was already evening.

She had already been moved from the lounger to the Stone Bed. The moment she moved, she sensed several Cubs nestled by her feet, their bodies emitting a slight vibration, warm and cozy.

Seeing how soundly they slept, Bai Wanwan didn't disturb them. She sat up and gently stroked the fur on their bodies.

The Cubs sensed Mother's approach, twitched their small heads, and nestled closer to her hand, sleeping even more soundly.

As she kept stroking them... a clamor came from outside.

At this hour, the Tribe was usually almost silent.

"What's going on outside?"

Xin Feng, who was pan-frying meat for her, heard her voice but didn't rush out to check the situation. Instead, he turned and walked inside. "You're awake? The meat is ready. It's just the right time for you to get up and eat."

The noise outside grew louder. Bai Wanwan took the beast skin skirt from his hand and said to him, "Go see what the commotion is outside."

"Alright, I'll go take a look,"

Saying that, he turned and left the room.

After he left, Bai Wanwan gently pulled her feet from between The Cubs without disturbing them.

The weather was a bit cool in the evening, so she quickly threw on her beast skin skirt and slowly walked outside.

The commotion outside was even greater now. Before she even reached the main entrance, she saw a figure dart inside.

It was Mu Shan!

Her hair was disheveled, and when she saw Bai Wanwan, she seemed not to notice at all, staring instead at something else.

While looking around, she shouted, "Mu Ye, are you hiding here? Come out quickly!"

Bai Wanwan was initially a bit angry about her uninvited arrival and was about to stop her, but she paused when she heard Mu Shan's words.

"You still haven't found your Cub?"

It had been at least several hours, and the sky outside was already dark. If a Cub ran into the forest, it would be dangerous.

Mu Shan glanced at her. "Have you seen my Cub? Did you hide it?"

Bai Wanwan had initially intended to be understanding of a Female's distress over a lost Cub, feeling she could tolerate a slight offense.

But Mu Shan immediately accused her of hiding her Cub, so she immediately retorted without pretense: "Do I not have Cubs, or do I have fewer Cubs than you? If you have the spare time to argue with me here, you'd better hurry up and go look outside."

Mu Shan didn't believe her and forcefully searched around Bai Wanwan's place. Only after confirming it wasn't there did she run out.

This disturbance woke up The Cubs, who had been sleeping soundly. They hopped off the sofa and ran to Bai Wanwan's feet, crying out.

Bai Wanwan squatted down, letting The Cubs lean against her knees. "Did I wake you? Are you hungry? Mom will get you something to eat."

"Wuwu..."

The Cubs wagged their tails and milled around beside her.

Xin Feng walked in shortly after and told her, "Mu Shan's Cub is lost. We've searched everywhere in the Tribe, but haven't found it yet."

"If it can't be found in the Tribe, could it have run into the mountains?"

"Very likely. If it hasn't come back by now, it's probably in grave danger."

Xin Feng, being a Father Beast himself, felt a sense of empathy upon hearing about the lost Cub.

He immediately picked up his own Cubs and spoke to them gently, "Don't run around recklessly, or your Mother will worry about you just like that Female just now. Don't make your Mother worry about you, understand?"

The Cubs seemed to half-understand and let out two "Ao" sounds toward their Father Beast.

Bai Wanwan stroked The Cubs' heads affectionately. "Let's be extra cautious these few days. We can't let The Cubs leave our sight, and we must close the door tightly when we come inside."

The voices of Mu Shan and the others slowly faded away.

Bai Wanwan thought about the fierce beasts roaming the forest. Forget about Cubs; even an adult Male with low Talent would face great risk.

Bai Wanwan didn't wish for Mu Shan's Cub to meet with misfortune; she hoped it was just hiding somewhere, being playful.

Xin Feng put The Cubs down, turned around to bring the food to the low table, and took care of his Female and Cubs.

The whole family ate the large basin of meat clean.

It wasn't until Xin Feng had coaxed The Cubs to sleep and settled Bai Wanwan into bed that the noise outside had not completely disappeared.

"Still haven't found it at this hour," Bai Wanwan sighed. Her own Cubs were even more mischievous; she needed to be even more careful.

"Don't worry about..."

She had been feeling sleepy lately. Xin Feng's voice near her ear hadn't faded, but she could gradually hear less clearly as she drifted into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, Xin Feng was already up, as usual. She rolled over, intending to close her eyes for a bit more sleep, but then she heard Shi Hua seemingly talking to Xin Feng outside.

"Shi Hua?"

She propped her arm up and sat up, calling out toward the outside.

"Sister, you're awake?"

As Shi Hua's voice came, her figure walked into the room.

"I've been extremely sleepy these past two days. I slept so early last night, and now I've slept until so late."

"I heard the older Females in the Tribe say that some Females who are pregnant sleep a lot. That's normal. Like me, being the same as usual is also normal,"

Shi Hua glanced outside and whispered, "Yan Lie said he is leaving. I left the prey he hunted for you outside."

Hearing that Yan Lie was leaving, Bai Wanwan felt somewhat relieved; he had finally figured things out.

"Oh, by the way, was Mu Shan's Cub found yesterday?"

She asked while putting on her clothes.

"No, and this morning, Mu Lian's Cub also went missing. When I came over, I heard her looking for it too..."

"It's missing too?"

Bai Wanwan finished dressing, feeling a slight strangeness in her heart.

"Did they go missing together, or did this one go missing today?"
